Small front but decent interiors. The hotel looks a little old but that is part of it's cachet. The room was comfortable and we had a free bottle of water per day. Bathroom amenities were carefully selected and tasteful. Overall positive impression with one minor glitch: one of the front desk persons argued with me that we had left the do not disturb sign on and that is why the room was not cleaned. Myself, my fiancee and the person who came to bring us fresh towels know that it was not the case: the sign showed "please make the room". In the future, please avoid arguing with your guests.

I've stayed at this hotel twice, in October and January, pricey because of its location. In January I booked my room on a secondary site, great price, but when I arrived I was assessed a daily fee of $22 for Internet access, now not such a great price. Also room was listed as twin double beds. I assumed I was getting 2 double beds, not so, 2 twin beds. Hotel is run down, but if you want to be near family, it works.

A good hotel in a great location with some issues that could be improved

The hotel is located in Upper West Manhattan, right on the American Museum of Natural History and also very close to Central Park. It's a tall building (we were amused by the skipping of a 13th floor). There are 2 elevators, but about half of the time one of them was out of order (another one each time). Our deal did not include breakfast - we were told we could have a breakfast buffet for $20 per person, with some little discount. However there are many food opportunities around in Columbus Avenue. The room was a bit compact but comfortable. I think the most disturbing issue was the floor, which squeaked a lot with every step. We could hear the same squeaking floor from the rooms around us. WiFi reception in the room was pretty good. The safe didn't work for some reason. The bed was too soft to our taste. Another funny thing: The tap in the sink opened in the opposite direction to what one would expect... Not a real issue, but we always fell for this :)

Ok, but not worth the money.

Terrible hotel bar/restaurant, although not affiliated with the hotel, you gain access via the hotel. Just a tenan t to the hotel owners, but just a terrible place to eat/drink. Could use a fridge and coffee pot in the rooms. Toilets flush with verrrry low pressure. On the positive, nice restaurants very near the hotel. Subway and Central Park and the Met are right there. That's why you pay so much. It's about location, not hotel amenities. Finally, ALL EMPLOYEES of the hotel were great. Nothing but great things to say about the front desk, bellman, and room cleaners. Note to owners - Fix that darned restaurant.

Great room and great staff. Everything was easy and there were no issues. We arrived early and our room was already waiting for us. Great price and location. Staff was very friendly and helpful with directions.
