The Best of the Villas

Old Key West has become our go-to Disney hotel. This latest visit was for 4 nights, with between 4 and 5 adults, one child and a baby, in a newly renovated 2BR villa in the Turtle Pond section. Check-in was easy, we made no requests ahead of time, but they were able to find us a ground floor room upon check- in (never hurts to ask) the location of the room was pretty close to the road, we could see traffic behind the swampy looking area behind the villa, but the road noise was not really an issue (and having a first floor room was more important to us with a newborn than the location). The villa had been renovated VERY recently, in fact, we may have been the first people to stay in it. I love what they did with it, the new kitchen island was a better use of space and the bathrooms have a great spa-like quality. Also the huge TV in the living room was a big plus. The new decor is a little more muted than in the past, but I liked it, clean lines while still having a very keys-like feel. Room was super clean, housekeeping was good (we are not DVC, so we had daily housekeeping) beds still very comfortable, even the sofa bed in the living room got decent reviews the night it was used. The theme pool is great, it is the nephew's favorite water slide. Cast members are generally friendly and in a good mood. We were close to the smaller pool with snack bar but we only visited it briefly. Store and onsite food options are limited, but good, we had pizza delivered thru Disney's in-room dining and it was surprisingly great. It is to your advantage to use your kitchen tho, as relying on the onsite options for more than a few days would get old. Transporation can be a bit of a trial here. We had really bad bus luck this trip, even using the app, and leaving just before the bus was scheduled to arrive, we still waited a long time for most park buses. We waited over 30 min for a bus to disney springs one morning before giving up and finally driving ourselves. . .only to pass the bus coming in. (Which is exactly the kind of things the transportation boards and apps are supposed to eliminate, but there's still a lot of kinks in the system.) Overall, you really can't go wrong choosing this resort. It is beautiful, the rooms are SO much bigger than the newer villa properties, and the location is great.

This was our first stay at the Old Key West Resort and will definitely stay here when we come back to Disney. The resort is absolutely beautiful! We were able to take advantage of the 80 degree weather to swim. The pool is beautiful with activities held by the staff. The snack counter’s food was delicious and reasonably priced, and every staff member we dealt with was so friendly. Nine of us stayed in a room way back in the resort. The rooms were beautifully decorated and spacious and so clean. Even though we were far from the main building, hopping a bus was easy and quick. We never waited long for a bus. Our room was near the highway, but we heard no sounds of it from anywhere in the room. I highly recommend this resort to anyone who needs a peaceful stay with room to stretch in your suite.
Like the renovated facilities!

Stayed in one of the renovated one bedroom villas. The decor is very nice. Some of the furniture is still not replaced, but facility itself is very nice. They just put in shampoo, body wash and conditioner pump bottles in the shower so you have more available to use

We have just returned from 9 nights in a one bedroom at OKW. We were in one of the remodelled rooms, farthest from reception, but no issue. Rooms nice and clean, well stocked, and now fitted with refillable shampoo and etc in the showers. Decent sized balcony to sit on. Rooms bigger than other DVC rooms. Regular transport to parks, about every 20 mins, which picks up from various points in the resort. Didn’t eat at OKW, but throughly enjoyed the company and friendliness of the bar staff.
Love this place

After the hustle bustle of the Grand Floridian this is a great place to stay, very relaxed, reasonably priced food, easy access to Disney springs and nice staff. The old tired bathrooms have been re-done and are awesome along with new hot tubs. We stayed in the 2-Bedroom apartment and were very comfortable as a family of six.
