    Retro Vibe meets Modern!

When you first enter this hotel you can feel the energy that the 50’s and 60’s crowd have left behind. You can only imagine these movie stars in their bungalows partying by the pool into the wee hours of the morning. They have done a really good job keeping the retro and modern mix. The main pool area is amazing and the Chicki pool seems yet to be discovered by most guest. The rooms are nice and we really enjoyed the soaking tubs. The food was also good, but nothing over the top. The grounds are immacunentliy kept. There is some obvious pride from whomever is in charge of landscaping. With all this being said the property still needs some work. The carpets are old, the rooms need some TLC (our shower leaked and had mold in the corners and there was dust behind the tub that had been there a long time), the pool staff needs some management checking in on them (they were much more interested in visiting among themselves than waiting on customers) and their restaurant needs some better planning. We witnessed them sending a single away saying they were overbooked when there were many tables a available. There is extreme potential in this property. Maybe some movie nights for families by the back pool? Some old school movies playing by the front pool in the evenings? Sing alongs? S’mores kits offered to use by the fire pits? It needs to tap into the story that was first written there. With all the pro’s and con’s I would still go back.

Not at all like the bad reviews here

Building 8, room 8212, March 2019. Room was in great condition, bed was comfortable. Looked like everything in the room was recently added. The grounds were well kept and quite frankly, beautiful. So then... why does this place get so many bad reviews. MAYBE the other buildings haven't been renovated yet? I didn't have time to check them out as I was only here for one night. I wasn't expecting the "60's style" that is the theme of the lobby and rooms, so at first I was a bit taken aback, but once the shock wore off, I have to say it was every bit as well done as the Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills. As for service, I have to say the front desk staff was wonderful. I had a problem with my room key not working. I went to the front desk and got a new set. Then THOSE weren't working and this time one of the front desk staff walked with me to the room and explained that you have to keep the card in the slot for about 2 or 3 seconds. I thought that was very nice of him to accompany me. One odd thing: No elevators. This was no problem for us but I could see how it could be for elderly guests that don't get a room on the first floor. Overall, this was a very nice stay and I would stay here again.

Apathetic is how I would describe the staff. Room is outdated with a mattress that should have been replaced years ago (it had divets in it and was so uncomfortable). The bathroom had multiple issues including a toilet and shower handle that were about to fall off and the toilet paper holder that was also about to come off the wall so the TP roll pointed toward the ground. Simple maintenance issues that no one seemed to care about. When pointing out my issue to staff I was told "so noted" by the front desk manager. I asked to speak to resort GM twice and I am still waiting for the call. There are many other hotel choices in Palm Spings. Stay someone else

As a Titanium Elite member I have stayed at hundreds of Marriott properties. This is one of the worst hotels I’ve encountered in the chain. It is an unacceptable property for Marriott to deliver to guests. The hotel is old, dirty, and all the finishes are dated. It appears as though original 1960’s era finishes are still in use. Dirty, stained, torn carpet in the stairwells, corridors, and rooms. Furnishings in the rooms are very old. Windows are old and thin and every noise from outside bleeds in. We stayed in building 5 which is at the back of the property. The pool between building 4 & 5 has a full bar yet on a Saturday we were at the pool all afternoon but the bar was never opened and no one ever serviced the pool with drinks. This in spite of the fact that it is high season in Palm Springs. The worst aspect of this stay is none of the parking lot lights work. On Friday night it was pitch black through the lot, even though temporary generator lights were on site. Saturday night generator lights were on in the side lot however there is no light around the back parking or driveway. Parking is a disaster. If you are in building 4 or 5 you have to walk several hundred yards from the side lot in the pitch dark just to get to your building. Completely ridiculous and unsafe. I will never stay at this property again.

After walking up three flights, over torn and worn carpet, then walking down a filthy hallway (dirty glass was out there the entire time), with dubiously stained carpet we entered . . . that’s right: a filthy room. Bathtub was dirty not sure when the last time the sink had been washed out, even the room-darkening curtains had stains. The comforter on my bed was still damp so (I hope) the sheets at least had been laundered. If you are compelled to stay here, stay out of Building 5 and the third floor. Icky!
