    I typically prefer to stay at Holiday Inn Express as the hotels are generally newer, updated, and provide free breakfast. My company booked this hotel stay for me during the busy MLB spring training season, as it was one of the cheaper 3-star options during my 4-night stay. It was immediately apparent why: remodeling of the lobby and dining areas on the ground floor. Nobody really ever enjoys staying at a hotel when it's under construction, but the staff here made the best of it for me. Rather than charge for a breakfast buffet, I was given vouchers to redeem. Sitting in the dining area with torn up walls and yellow tape wasn't the best visually, but the breakfast buffet was complete and satisfying. When I checked in I was told the room I was given on the sixth floor had been remodeled. I was very pleased with the room. All the power outlets in the room had been updated with added USB ports so charging a phone or other small device was easy. The bathroom was nice, though the choice of wallpaper was a bit strange. No complaints at all about the room, and the balcony overlooking the pool area is a bonus. There is plenty of parking. Unfortunately the quickest exit to the parking area was closed off to construction, and I tried to escape to the parking lot via the pool/courtyard but the gates were locked. This was certainly less than convenient, but understandable with wanting to have a more secure feeling while the construction was on. Overall, this hotel could be a winner once the remodel transformation takes place, but for the time I stayed here, it was only just a minor inconvenience. For a business traveler like myself, I didn't mind exchanging free breakfasts for a little construction mess.

    I've been to a number of other hotels that are undergoing renovation, but this one seemed like it was getting the hotel equivalent of gender-reassignment surgery--all of the entrances save for the main one were closed, and half of the first floor was closed off--getting to the fitness facility was like something out of "Planes, Trains and Automobiles." There was also construction dust and debris in the elevators and all around the lobby area. The room itself was decent, and the staff were friendly, but if I had known about the scope of the construction I would have gone elsewhere.

    The staff at this hotel are outstanding. If it was not for the staff being so friendly and welcoming I would have checked out after the first night to stay in another hotel. The hotel is under renovation and it very much needed. If you notice in the pictures I posted their was a huge crack under the door of my room. It was big enough I had to put a towel down to have any privacy. Even with the towel I could hear every single person talking that walked by. Since I was close to elevator I got to hear every time it opened and close throughout the nights of my stay. The other issue I had was the elevator for my floors down button did not work and there was not even a sign to warn it was broken. Another hotel guest told me I had to push the UP button and wait for it to go Down since the down button was broke. Other than two issues my room is was great as it had been renovated recently. The rest of the hotel is in dire need to the renovations. If you are considering to stay here I would suggest looking at the most recent bookings to see if these types of issues are being addressed in the renovation the hotel is ongoing.

    Wow! Where are the IHG brand standards people? I have never stayed in a more run down IHG property. We are Spire Elite Ambassadors, and we were 'upgraded' to the suite tower, which they apparently gave up on maintaining 10 years ago (check out the picture of the door to our room). The faucet dripped, the fridge was loud, the drapes were ridiculously wrinkled and unkempt, and there was lots of dirt in the corners. The bathroom was downright gross, dark and tiny. The elevator was painfully slow. I was actually looking longingly at the Motel 6 across the 12-lane highway (that our room was 30 feet from). Since we have upgraded to Ambassador, we seem to be getting WORSE rooms than we got before. They are doing renovations to this property, but nothing has been done with the suite tower. Stay away until you are sure property is completely renovated or insist on getting a renovated room.

    A suite with a king size bed and sleeper sofa. The sleeper sofa did not have any linens in the room. The shower fixtures were part plastic and could not get the water to be cool - so no shower in the morning. Would not stay here again.
