I have always wanted to stay at this hotel (from my first visit to Quebec city as a child) so booking here was kind of a bucket list experience for me, plus I thought my t kids would get a kick out of staying at the "castle". I don't book Fairmont hotels regularly; I am a Marriott Loyalty Program member and my go-tos for work and leisure travel are usually a Sheraton, Marriott or Westin or otherwise, a boutique hotel but given the hype around the "luxury" that Fairmonts have to offer and the great rates/specials that are available on Fairmont Hotels this summer, I thought I would give it a try. Everything seemed off from the room to the service. The room itself was quite small for a "deluxe room" with only 2 small windows at each corner and a slanted ceiling, even upon waking in the morning, I had to turn on the lights as it was not lit enough to dress, etc. There was no fitted sheet on the mattress, only a regular sheet that evidently kept coming off and exposing the mattress, no duvet cover on the duvets (not sure if this is intentionally but a bit odd from my perspective) and though I had not requested cleaning/room service (for environmental purposes), I had to call them to get a change of towels as the room was so humid (it rained for a lot of our stay) that our towels from the day before hadn't dried. As well, we didn't have enough towels though I had clearly indicated we were 4 individuals staying in the room. The bathrooms. I also requested a change of the coffee mugs and 1 of the 2 new mugs that were brought to us was dirty. When I called room service to ask for them to come exchange it for a clean one, they didn't so much as apologize for the mishap. Receiving a dirty mug in your hotel room is gross during regular times but during COVID times...unacceptable. As well, EVERYTHING comes at an additional price, parking ($40 per night!), bottled water in the room, etc. It's not a question of being able to afford it all (because I can), its a question of principal, for a so-called "luxury" chain hotel. As well, we were charged an additional "resort fee" of $20 per night which I only noticed on my invoice after we left, when I inquired what this was for, they said it was to cover the activities (that we did not participate in) and use of the hotel amenities. The only hotel amenity we would have been interested in using would have been the pool for my kids and it was closed because of COVID/renos. Upon check out, when I was asked how my stay was, I answered that it was just "ok" expecting that the front desk receptionist would ask why it was just "ok" but to my surprise, she didn't even bother. At the rate I paid, I am going to write this off as a bad experience but had I paid the full rate for this room which I believe is close to $400/night, I would have been fuming. Don't waste your money staying here, if you are fascinated by the building's beautiful architecture, tour it from the outside and spend your money staying else where, there is better value for your money than this hotel in QC city.

The Fairmont brand is worldwide known for being one of the most upscale and stylish accommodations. Le Chateau Frontenac is therefore a “MUST DO” on the list. Not only is it a UNESCO Site, but also did it host a few of the most significant historic events, and in particular one that later contributed to put and end to WWII and bring peace to the world. Personalities such as Winston Churchill and Rosevelt, Queen Elizabeth II, Princess Grace Kelly, Spielberg, Di Caprio, and many celebrities have been honourable guests at this magnificent historical masterpiece. Well! It just so happens, we too -my spouse and I - stayed there these last two nights of July 2020, and received the most impeccable service, regardless of the pandemic. The only downside was not having the pool area available, which was understandable due to the current circumstances. I will let everyone to get the idea of what this hotel represents by catching a glance through the pictures I took for they speak better than my own words. I must mention too that a young lady named Jessica at the reception awarded us during our first night a gold room on the higher floors owing to the fact that our AC in our prebooked room did not work properly. As soon as we made the remark, this lady did not waste five minutes to accommodate us in a much bigger suite; such is the treatment one gets in a place like this. Thank you so much for making my Quebec City visit unforgettable.

We didn't stay here but it was part of our sightseeing trip around the city. It sits on top of a hill overlooking the harbour/port of the river and above Quartier Petit Champlain and is stunning. The french influence is obvious and it does look like a chateau. You can book a tour of the Chateau for about $20 but we just enjoyed it from outside as we had to choose what we could fit into one day. We did not see it lit up at night either which I understand is quite something.

Enjoyed ourselves during a quick stay in July. Very robust corona measures; daily temperature check at main doors, disposable masks, gloves available for guests at main doors. Social distance stickers on floor at checkin and staff wear masks when not behind visors. Hand sanitizer stations outside and inside elevators. Valet parking was easy but my recommendation would be if there could be a dedicated telephone button in room for valet Vs general line. Everything was smooth, but also it was eerie quite in hotel and even the City in general. We stayed in a newly renovated room which had ample space, great AC etc. During our stay we were advised of intentional power outage during sleep hours to update AC system. Did not feel much inconvenience but hotel offered fan, which was appreciated and we ended up not using it. Everyone is courteous, helpful and genuinely seemed to want your stay to be great. My fairmont experience is artificial as all services were not available (pool, fitness room) but pleasant nevertheless. One friendly advise to hotel would be to straighten out the secondary carpet on 5th floor (area being renovated) it wasn’t taunt and was a little hard to roll my suitcase and I did end up tripping/tribuché (but in fairness I was also texting and walking..) Looking forward to my next stay at Le château.

The hotel is located within the historic district. This hotel is stunning, lovely and impressive. Very cozy and gorgeous decors. The room was a good size and really comfortable. Close to many amazing restaurants.
