Week Stay at Xcaret

We had a great time, lots of walking from pools to beach, to buffet, and dinner at night. First Club was nice and staff very helpful.

Great place , ok food

Got this booking through Costco travel. Price included room, flights, transport. This is a large, lush campus. We were in 21. That was about a 15min walk to the lobby. 20 min. To the beach area. If you are physically challenged like me, ask to be close to the lobby. They have some golf carts that will pick you up. But that waS hit or miss. Room was a jr. Suite. It was spacious. Had a wooden chair in the corner and a small couch. Has an older coffee maker, a fridge that is stocked ( included) Hair dryer. Has shampoo and body wash. Pretty clean but i still wore my flip flops in shower bc i dont need athletes foot. Hot water most of the time. Each building has a concierge. They were very helpful. Food is just ok here. Even in the reservation specialty restaurants. The buffets had a variety of food to choose from. Tons of great pools here but we spent our time at the beaches because we are far from beaches at home. They have an adult ocean swimming area which is beautiful. Bring swing shoes for that. You can rent snorkel gear if you like. ALL EMPLOYEES were great. Super nice/ funny. Bring tip money to tip these great people. Circling back to food,, we found it underwhelming. Youll find something to eat... but breakfast waS our favorite meal. Entertainment waS pretty good. Transport to and from resort takes at least an hour. You will be sharing the van.

Wonderful experience, beautiful location, excellent staff

Tiffany B (Sammamish, Washington) on Apr 19, 2024

My family and I stayed in a suite in the Royal section for 10 days. It was pretty perfect and we were sad to leave. There are far more roses than thorns, so I’d definitely recommend it and really hope to return one day soon. - The Royal concierge was so easy to communicate with via WhatsApp and they proved valuable during our stay. Always friendly. Always helpful. Always remembered our name. - Breakfast in the Royal restaurant was our favorite time of day. Sitting outside at the restaurant overlooking the water, enjoying food from the buffet or delightful French toast or omelettes while iguanas looked on. The staff during lunch and breakfast were some of my favorite people. They were so attentive, our cups never ran dry. On our last day they brought us croissants on a plate decorated with a Bon Voyage style message. Daniel, Apolinar, Alberto, Ahíto - really helped make the experience perfect for us every morning. - At dinner, Francisco proved to be one of our favorite people at the entire resort, always attentive and personable, making sure we had everything we needed. The dinner at Royal was definitely the best. The salmon was the best I’ve ever had in my life. Ever! - Even outside of Royal, every member of staff we came across always said Buenos Dias or Buenas Noches when they passed us. The people who worked at the buffet and the snack bar - all so good. Antonio, Carlos Mateo - I wish I remembered everyone’s name, but really, I don’t have a bad thing to say about any staff member of any of the restaurants. Everyone we came across was great! - There was so much attention given to the upkeep of the grounds. The rooms were always clean and the lobby, restaurants, bars, cabanas, everywhere always looked great. - The shows at the hotel were worthwhile. The circus night was very surprising. There are some very talented and bendy people there. Beautiful show. - Can’t beat the location. The tunnel leading to Xcaret was so convenient. We also walked around the property our first night and the monkeys were in the trees right over our heads. The amount of wildlife on the property is amazing. You can’t walk 5 min without seeing iguanas, those raccoon guys, capybaras, deer… The Mayan ruins on the property, super cool. The Thorns: - The deer they have in the small enclosure. Is that necessary? There are deer roaming the property freely. The ones I the enclosure don’t have much space. - I didn’t at all mind tipping for meals or drinks or any service, but some people were too thirsty for tips. One of the people at front seemed to expect a tip after exchanging a few words. No work, just a few sentences of convo and they had their hand out. Didn’t like that. - The bathroom doors were slats so not entirely private when you have a family staying together. Not a deal breaker, but hope the bathrooms are updated sometime soon. Overall, Royal is definitely worth it if you can swing it and no matter what you pick, the staff work hard to make it a great experience.

You get what you pay for

As my first all inclusive experience this fell short. I should have read reviews to have lower expectations. CONS: - extra costs every where: Room Service, No shuttle unless you stay 5+ nights, wine at reserved dinner - Not clear on any schedule events - no 24/7 food- we arrived at 4 and had to rush to the buffet before it closed and most dinner times didn't start till 6pm - You have to make reservations before 1pm otherwise they wont seat you, but they are very lack luster in enforcing dress code - The food at the reservation (seafood restaurant) was absolutely terrible - Our room phone didn't work and the door to the balcony did not lock thankfully we were high up so we didn't feel like anyone was going to break in -Shower drain backed up so we had to undscrew it to let water drain - There is a lot of walking to get from one place to the other for no reason - Day 2 we were still very lost in trying to find different places of the resort PROS: Staff are very friendly 24/7 front desk service
