Let me start off by saying this was just a quick trip to Saint Pete we were just trying to get away this has been a difficult year for everyone driving along the beach we noticed their Signage.., was one of only two hotels with a digital moving sign upon entering the colorful lobby we were greeted with a welcome in from front desk clerk Penny we explain to her that we were just looking for rates and looking for a quick 2 to 3 day getaway if possible she was very thorough explaining the different room plans And prices..., after talking it over we decided to stay at the Dolphin Beach Resort and I don’t think we could’ve made a better choice rooms were spacious and clean beds were very comfortable housekeeping staff was thorough and very pleasant upon check out we met the front desk supervisor Randy who greeted us and ask how our stay was very thoughtful I think we have a New home away from home can’t wait to come back in the summer and stay in a beachfront room again thanks to Penny Randy and all of the housekeeping staff for making our little getaway memorable keep up the good work Dolphin Beach Resort
Operating with poor business choices

My friend and I stayed here for three nights recently. We had previously booked the prior weekend but life's unexpected occurrences came up and so we needed to reschedule for the following weekend. The web site we booked through had this business listed as "cancellation free" but this turned out not to be the case. Long story short on this is that my friend called to find out about rebooking the stay and got an attitude from a woman on the other end of the line at the property about wanting to change reservation dates to the next weekend. She made it known to us that "the next weekend won't be any better" as far as weather was concerned....she assumed we wanted to change due to whether; which was not the case. Don't you just hate when customer service people make assumptions based on nothing and let give you an attitude about it? I do. Anyhow, we showed up the next weekend to an almost empty hotel/resort. We asked if we could have a room facing the beach and were told that it would be an additional $90 per night...BS in my book. The place was nearly empty and there are at least 45 rooms facing the ocean at this place; only four of which appeared to have anyone in them while we were there. I'm not sure why management at this place has not made a decision, when in these hard times, to give all guests free upgrades to ocean view rooms when the place is nowhere near capacity. Seems very short-sighted to me. Our room was clean, the water pressure sucked, the drain in the tub didn't suck very well and therefore person number two into the shower was forced to stand in person number ones filthy water...it didn't drain for well over an hour on any of the days. The staff that checked us in was nice enough. The maid cleaned the room well but didn't replenish the bathroom conditioner, shampoo or lotion bottles after the first night..they were clearly used/finished and needed replacement. The location of this place is decent. I wouldn't stay here again just due to the fact that management doesn't know how to promote their property in these dire times of pandemic. Upgrade people and put them on the ocean side if possible. This would make it appear from the beach that the resort is fuller and may peak interest in those walking by. Don't have an attitude during a pandemic about your new customer wanting to change days; be happy you have a customer that wants to stay at your resort when most are dying for any business during the pandemic. Learn to think outside the box to promote your property; that, or die from lack of customers and from poor service to those you have. i'd fire the management and get someone in there that is willing to make steep cuts to overnight stays in order to get guests into the resort. And I'd put the all in the ocean view rooms first if the guest party size allows for it....think people, think!!!!!!!

Stayed over thanksgiving. Older place but love the retro style. Staff was great. New beds pillows and sheets very comfy Breakfast was good and good price. Enjoyed flippers bar in the afternoon for a snack and beautiful view. We felt right at home. Much better than some of the larger resorts in the area This is our new go to for St. Petersburg we try to visit the area at least twice a year. The dolphin will be our new home for the trip

Rude

Had a horrible feeling the second we walked in the door. "Penny" was cold and rude. Asked for a room with a balcony and she said "well ill see but I doubt it." There were maybe 4 cars in the whole lot so no way did they not have one. Our toilet wouldn't flush, maintenance guy was nice but said you just got to mess with it a little. Pool had people doing drugs at night.Found a cockroach on the floor as we were leaving. Not a family friendly hotel at all. We've stayed at 100s of hotels, very rarely complain and this was by far our worst experience ever.
