The best hotel yet

I have been to cuba many times over the last few years. I have always stayed in smaller hotels near town. This time I stayed here because I was coming to quarentene before going to santa clara to get married. Well didn't make it there due to the growing cases of covid. As sad as that was I loved staying at this hotel. The grounds are clean. The staff is incredible. Everyone was in full mask and shield. My room was amazing. The food I cant even explain how delicious everything was. I'm a food nut and other hotels don't even come close to this hotel. It is spanish owned not cuban. As much as I love cuba sometimes the food at cuban hotels is not the greatest. I have decided to return here when times are better and I will get married here as well. I highly recommend this hotel for solo or family. I give them a 10!

Got Married

We just got back from this resort. Had a great time, got married on the beach. Eduardo was our coordinator and our Wedding was excellent went off without a hitch. The food and the staff were all excellent. The rooms were huge, and very clean and well taken care of. Will definitely go back. Now just a heads up. There was only 39 guests had the hotel because of the covid situation in the world. It was good because the pools were always empty. The main bar closes at 11, so you had to use snack bar after 11. Only 1 restaurant open, a la Carte options. Food was fresh hot and very good. There is some construction going on at the moment. So some noise thru out the day. We plan on going back once the pandemic is over. It was a great get away for a week.
Fun, relaxing, family-friendly, beautiful beach

We spent a week at Iberostar Selection Bella Vista in December 2020 and we had a fantastic time.. mum, dad, 8 year old son, 7 month old baby and grandma. The hotel kept all of us entertained. Good Covid precautions were in place and followed responsibly. The staff are wonderful, really professional and so friendly. Special thanks to Maya from the kids club and our morning omelette lady—we can’t remember her name but she was exceptional, made us feel like her family. The beach is beautiful, there’s a quieter strip behind the big rock, the water sports staff are super amenable, the catamarans and kayaks and pedalos are included, seem well maintained and safe. The two big pools are lovely and pretty clean, long and straight enough to do lengths which is nice for swimmers. Our 8yo loved the kids pool with slides too, even though we thought he might be too old for it. The kids club is well equipped. The rooms are clean and contemporary—personally we really liked the decor at this hotel, other Iberostars we’ve been to are a bit dated. (But grandma said she preferred the more traditional Iberostar Varadero!) The bathroom had a lovely big bathtub, with very hot water that never ran out and good water pressure. Win. Our room was a standard double, not a sea view room. But Varadero is a narrow peninsula so there are actually sea views on both sides of the hotel. Our balcony looked over the top of a cement factory, but beyond it you see the sea. The view was not ugly, the factory was mainly masked by trees, but just mentioning as a heads up. You can pay extra for a proper sea view room which looks out the other way over the pools and the beach. Those rooms also get the noise from the pool bar and the nightly entertainment on the terrace so if you like an early night, maybe choose the other side. There were swim-up rooms located next to a different pool that looked nice, I might have formed out for a swim up room, my son would’ve loved it.. but that part of the hotel was closed. Cleaning staff did a great job, many thanks to the maid service team. You can also order room service from the 24hr snack bar (pizza, fries, hamburgers, sandwiches) - great for kids who are hungry outside of buffet hours. The food... let’s say in the context of Cuba, the food is excellent. It’s not 5-star gourmet but this hotel definitely had better food than many other Cuban hotels we’ve been to (we live in Havana and we’ve been to quite a few). Lots of fresh fruit and vegetables at the buffet, plenty of choice and the young Spanish head chef was around every day, you could tell he was making an effort to keep the buffet ship-shape and come up with creative ideas to change up the menu. And he chatted to clients and went out of his way to cater for children, I was impressed with his hands-on friendly attitude. (We actually run a cafe-restaurant in Havana so we appreciate how hard it is to do catering here). If your priority in an all-inclusive is top-class food, i wouldn’t choose Cuba! Go to Cancún or Florida. But this hotel is better than many others in Cuba in that department. There is WiFi throughout the hotel not just the lobby, which is unusual in Cuba. The connection is pretty bad but that is normal in Cuba and probably not the hotel’s fault. If you really need good internet 24/7, get a Cuban sim and use 4G. The lobby bar was well stocked and the bar staff were amenable. Overall we really loved our stay! This hotel is concentrated over a smaller area than many of the other Varadero resorts and I can imagine if it was at full capacity it might feel a bit crowded but we had a lovely peaceful stay, no complaints and big thanks to all the wonderful staff.
