    23 Years Going to SJC!

Just came back from our 2nd visit this year. We have been going bro SJC every year, except last year for 22 years. We go for my husband's birthday and this year the staff and management went above and beyond. Everyone was following COVID protocols and we felt perfectly safe. Things were a bit quieter this year due to lower bookings. They usually have a lot of visitors from the U.K. and Canada, but since those countries are locked down, it was mostly Americans. Food was good as usual and all non motorized motor sports were still included in the AI plan. Wish we could figure out a time to go back before the world opens up. It was a perfect vacation!

Tennis with Bennett at St. James's Club!

I've stayed at St. James's Club many times in the past and knew it was where I wanted to go for my first post-vax trip. In all the times I've visited, this is the first time I've played tennis on the beautiful St. James's courts, taking several lessons and hitting tons of balls with the wonderful pro, Bennett. Bennett is an incredible player and coach -- his skills are incredible, his teaching style is insightful and easy to follow, and (best of all) he's an absolute pleasure to be around. Bennett quickly identified and helped me correct a problem I've been having with my backhand -- he "tweaked" my footwork, shoulder turn and follow through and I feel like an entirely new player! He diagnosed the problem(s), offered and demonstrated simple changes, and practiced with me until I felt like I could incorporate them into my game. And he did it all with the kind of thoughtfulness, humor and friendliness that had me itching to get back out with him again. I should add that I also had occasion to watch him work with a beginner and I was impressed at how he had them hitting and improving very quickly -- he's clearly the kind of tennis pro who can help anyone who wants to improve their game! When I'm in Antigua, I often am diving or sailing or limin' on the beach. Now I'll be adding "tennis with Bennett" to my island routine. Can't wait to return and maybe even take a game or 2 off him next time!

Good Location and Facilities, Meals could be better, Excellent dive shop

The location was beautiful and there was a lot to do, and the rooms, pools, and beaches were very nice. The one thing I think they could improve is the dining experience. Meals were included, but unless you wanted to pay extra to eat at their most formal restaurant, there was a good chance you would be caught in some sort of event, usually directed at young children, that was so loud you could not really talk to the other people at your table. The best thing about this place was their dive shop–– the scuba diving instructors were very knowledgable and I saw so much wildlife. Diving was also much less expensive than it often is at similar resorts.

    The Unexpected

The hotel staff could not have been nicer. They were very accommodating, especially Naomi, in the travel department. Our room was large and right on the beach. Unfortunately there was a tremendous amount of seaweed, which they were constantly trying to remove in front of our room. Naomi, in travel, helped us to book tours and gave us good information on all that was available. We loved her recommendations. The only disappointment was a sailboat tour, Champagne, that we booked. It was very pricy. We were told we would spend time on two secluded beaches and enjoy a picnic on the beach. We pulled into a beach at 4:30 in the afternoon, they then fed us lunch on board in a styrofoam and gave us about 30 minutes on the beach. I thought it was a total ripoff. The food at the hotel was horrible. The selections were fine, but the kitchen clearly needs some serious help. We could not wait to use the spa. Because of Covid there was only one person working. We were unable to get an appointment. Beware, this hotel is on the Atlantic, not the Caribbean. It is also a long drive from everything.

We had a fabulous time at the St James Club. Everything at the resort was very clean and well kept. Rooms were spacious and very comfortable. The pillows were amazing! With the exception of Oriental night, all of the food was very delicious. The staff were very friendly and went out of their way to help you. Highly recommend
