We came to playa paraiso In the summer holidays and I don’t have much bad to say about it. We were greeted with a Thomas cook representative that stayed at the hotel which made it earlier for us as she could book things for us and understood English. The air conditioning was excellent and the room was very big with two big comfy beds in. It was nice and clean. The swimming pools were nice however someone did poo in it and they didn’t clean it properly so we stayed out of it for a few days. The beach was a two minute walk and was amazing, lots of music and loads of sun beds so you didn’t have to reserve them. We went to the end of the beach and done horse riding a few times and absolutely loved it. We also hired a paddle boat and a different type of boat which was completely free with the hotel, just make sure you book first thing as they go quickly. There was also three restaurants there which you have to book prior to going but I’d say book as soon as you get there as spaces also disappear quick. Food was lovely, you could watch your meat be cooked and make your own pasta in front of you. The pizza bar which was near the beach was lovely however we did que for an hour. The snack bar is open all day however they did run out of burgers for a few days and refused to cook for us if it was late. The staff were so lovely especially the lady who plaited hair. So many options of drinks. Doctor and hair dresser on site. There’s a shop five minutes up the road however it wasn’t open much and there was also a bowling alley there as well. Entertainment was good and they also included a band which sung some good English songs. Felt sorry for the life guard who was slaving away and no one was intrested In him but he’s very friendly. There’s men in buggy’s that drive you to your room however we were close to everything. Our block didn’t have hot water for two days so they have us another hotel to shower in however that was disgusting and full of bugs. You will be bitten by mosquitoes though so I’d be careful as we ended up with about 100 bites by the end of it. Lovely memories made and will hopefully be back soon.

The resort used to be called the Pestana. It hasn't changed much since opening under a a different name. The beach is so beautiful and the service is pretty good. There are different a la carte restaurants but book as soon as you arrive. The rooms were clean enough but my only complaint from not rating excellent is the beds which were small and too hard. I really enjoyed and miss my morning cappuccino served from the bar in the lobby. Thank you Yaisimy for making them so delicious and always served with a smile! "Gracias Yaisimy por preparar mis deliciosos capuchinos todas las mañanas. ¡Dios te bendiga!"

We arrived here March 12 with a family of 8 including 3 children (7,5,3) and 3 seniors. I emailed in advance asking for buildings 1 or 2. Our request was honoured and we were in building 2 all located on the ground floor. We arrived at noon but some of our rooms were not ready till 5;30. We ate lunch and changed into our swim wear and enjoyed the pool. The beach here is beautiful and there is lots of shade. My daughter in law did get up early to get us a space but there was still space available later in the morning. The ocean is very shallow and the kids could go down to fill up their pails with water. We had lunch at the beach. Just before the walkway to the beach to your left is a pizza stand, The kids loved the pizza and the crispy fried fish. The fish place is right beside the beach bar. Yummy... We spent the afternoons by the pool. We stayed near the kids club and the kids enjoyed going in there. Right near us was a playground and 2 wading pools. One of the pools had a slide. The large pool upon entering was very shallow and easy to see because of the different colour. Since the hurricane they have added lots more cabanas so there were lots of shaded areas. Food. There is a 24 hour snack bar that serves kid friendly food....hot dogs, burgers, fries, toasted sandwiches etc. And great cappuccino. Most nights the kids ate dinner here and later went to the buffet for ice cream. Breakfast had an egg station, pancake station and the usual buffet style foods. Dinner was hit and miss. The best night were when they had pork roast...excellent. The pasta station had huge line ups and one night 45 min wait. Dinner in the buffet is not my favourite. The rooms are looking tired and need a little updating.....but we were hardly in them. This visit I didn’t like the new pillows and the beds were not as comfortable as before. The maid was good. Rooms were cleaned and lots of towel art and flowers. Just a tip ...don’t leave the beach towels drying on your balcony. My grandchildren loved the kids show at 8pm We arrived just before the pandemic was declared and by our fourth day no new people were coming to the resort. The resort visible looked quite empty as the week went on. We travelled with Sunwing and when we flew home they called it a rescue mission and supplied each of us with a boxed lunch. We all enjoyed our vacation and are looking forward to visiting again.

We hope to be back again for the third time, next year!

This was our second visit to this little gem of a hotel. What made us come back was not only the beautiful beaches, the great food, but also the friendly, helpful and always smiling staff. We would like to especially mention Yoalmis at the Portugese restaurant who made our evening incredibly special, she went above and beyond for us. Leisy, Roxie, Dany, Yoan and Yane in the lobby were absolutely wonderful through our entire stay. Playa Paraiso is truly a little piece of paradise.

FIrst off We love Cuba and the beaches. The weather was perfect all week. We went with Air Canada for the first time for this trip. Not sure we will go with them again. Sunwing /Airtransat seemed to offer more. After arriving at 1030 we waited until 3 for our room. We were placed in Building 11 and according to the customer service rep who we went to see on Day 3 ...was closed for renos until we got there on March 10. When we arrived there was a maintanace man caulking tiles in our bathroom. There was no power to that building for the rest of the day. Our dresser was broken. Paint was splattered all over the walls and floor. We are used to the rooms being dated as it is cuba, but this was bad. Always had great sleeps when in Cuba but these beds are aweful. The pillows were rolled up batton. To us it looked like it had not been renovated yet, or was in the middle of it when they gave it to us. We went to see our AIr Canada Rep. Marciano? and he promptly arranged us to see the customer service rep. She was great. She addressed our issues with the room right away and apoligized for the state of the grounds around the building. (broken glass-razor blades-garbage). We were then moved to building 6. Ocean view. They offered us bottles of rum and cigars as well. We declined as he room was more then enough. The kids club rep Yuri was great with the kids. She took them bowling and made sure they had a great time. Our service at the buffet was amazing. We saw Sergios smile daily and had prompt service every time we sat in his section. He was very attentive knowledgable and friendly. Rolando was also great and served us at breakfast many days. Always there with a fresh cup of coffee and asking if we needed anything. Housekeeping was great. Efficient and very helpful. Our pool boy (sorry didn't find out his name) was such a hard worker making sure everyone had chairs. My favorite thing about this hotel was the beach. It was very clean and well maintained. This is the first time we went to this resort or chain. We normally go to the Memories chains but they were full. I found that the entertainment around the resort was not as abundant as the memories reosrt. Did not make sense that the ping pong table was at the gym and not near the pool. There were not many things for the kids to do if they did not go to the kids club. There was a basketball net at the pool but the ball was at the gym. And no one that worked there seemed to interested in going to get it for the kids to play with. On the resort add for aircanada it showed a pool table/ sports bar , shopping, japanese ala carte and much more. It is not at this resort. You have to go next door to the melia about a 5 minute walk down the road to use these facilities and they are extra.
