    Great Food- Average Resort Overall

    Stayed at Sunscape Sat 4/10 - Thurs 4/15 Pro: The resort has hand sanitizer stations, floor markers for physical distance, plexiglass physical barriers in place on counters/bars to protect resort staff from large respiratory droplets. The resort management staff should review the CDC’s updated guidance regarding surface (fomite) transmission. Masks are not enforced for guests but they have resort staff wearing disposable gloves for hours at a time in the outdoor heat? Science Brief: SARS-CoV-2 and Surface (Fomite) Transmission for Indoor Community Environments | CDC Con: Resort staff all wear masks but guests are mostly maskless and entitled, thinking a negative covid test 3+ days ago gives them permission to be maskless. They allowed maskless guests in the gym. Pro: Anna is the sweetest, kindest, most genuine restaurant employee. She was always so kind and attentive every time she saw us at the resort. She made us feel so welcome. She was always smiling and even though she was always wearing a face mask, you could tell she was smiling (by her eyes). I hope she gets extra bonus/pay for her work ethic. She was working early (0630 am) and always doing extra. Pro: Kareen was very kind to me in the lobby. I believe she is a manager and she was very helpful. Pro: Vianella is very attentive & a kind server. She is a hard worker. I always saw her hustling, no matter which restaurant she was working in. Con: We asked the front desk numerous times for change (several days) to be able to continue to tip staff and they never had change available. Management ensuring $1, $5 are available allows guests to tip the resort staff. This is the single most frustrating aspect of this resort and an epic management fail! Pro: Buffet food is served by resort staff and therefore reduces contamination by guests who have poor hygiene/sanitation habits. I really like this because guests hands are disgusting, touching utensils at the buffet! Covid has brought some much needed changes and I hope this change continues! Con: Staff also ration your food/plate. I could only get 3 zucchini slices. Con: Not many breakfast options compared to other resorts we’ve been to. The oatmeal was liquid. The fruit choices were mostly melons. Con: Room service menu is only served in the room (not the pool) and it took at least an hour to be delivered at lunch. Pro: They give you plenty of bath towels and do a good job cleaning the room each day. Pro: The restaurant(s) food is better than average, it’s pretty good food overall. We were pleasantly surprised. Con: The resort is older. Our shower only had one sliding shower door and the bathroom was small. Pro: The beach is great. Clear water. It’s a beautiful beach. The beach is the reason we chose Sunscape over Dreams. Pro: Open air dining in the restaurants. Great ventilation for covid concerns. Con: Birds fly in the restaurant. The resort needs need to improve pest control (for the birds). Pro: Sun Club bartender Nathaly was very nice and so kind to us but she wasn’t given any good tequila to serve. Pro: Free covid testing nearby but you have to register in advance and walk across the street to a trailer. No one tells you any information about where to go. Con: They don’t serve quality bourbons (just serve Jack Daniels before 5 pm) and no decent tequilas. The spirits are cheap and likely refilled bottles, if I had to guess. Then, finally on our last day we had a male Sun Club bartender (Kenneth) who served Jose Cuervo silver but the bottle was almost empty. I strongly dislike the practice of refilled bottles. Why wasn’t Nathaly given the Jose Cuervo to serve? Con: Resort management does not enforce the face mask requirement for guests, which is shameful because maskless guests jeopardize the safety/health of unvaccinated resort staff. Pro: Nice pool umbrellas are fixed/stationary. The breeze doesn’t knock them over. Pro: Resort was mostly empty, not crowded. (100 guests maybe?) Pro: Hand scooped Lovers Brand (local) ice cream served from a window near the Italian restaurant every day at lunch time.

    Without getting into too much detail, this resort serves the worst over cooked poorly prepared food. The beach is awesome. The pools are nice. But I would never go back and subject my family to the garbage that is served at their restaurants. When the highlight on the menu is hotdog and French fries, it’s clear that the all inclusive resort has missed the mark.

    Great time! Excellent staff very attentive and genuinely friendly and kind. Very safe place to be with cleaning protocols and sanitizers in place every step of the way Beach and water is amazing. We are coming back!

    We had an amazing stay at the Sunscape Curacao Resort. The location, staff, pools, restaurants were all excellent. We upgraded to the Sun Club which was worth the extra money for a more private pool, room and bar. Kenneth at the Sun Club Bar made our week! He was always smiling and friendly and made the best drinks - margaritas especially! We will be back to Sunscape for sure - we had the most enjoyable vacation yet at this resort. Highly recommend!!

    Best dive vacation ever, Thank you Jorge, Norma, and Verona!!!

    I'm an avid diver...more of a rabid diver. If there is water, any water,, I want to dive it. This was my dive vacation and they had me at unlimited shore diving. Even when Curaçao shut down and boat diving was canceled in the midddle of our trip, the house Reef is better than most I have dove anywhere. Usually "house Reef" means weight and equipment check. After 3 days of boat diving, the boats were canceled and I spent at least 15 hours on the house reefs from a shallow 20 foot to a 165 foot full deco dive. The Reef is amazingly healthy and the fish population is great, even with the Lionfish. Jorge runs the Ocean Encouters dive shop at the resort and is totally committed to making your diving vacation perfect. He is one of the best dive shop managers I have ever met anywhere in the world. I love Cozumel but the diving here is just as good, and in some ways better if you don't like current. More scorpion and trumpet fish here than further North. Resort wise, the food was excellent and the service was beyond compare. Norma usually worked the pool bar and is not only the best bartender I have met but a genuinely wonderful person as well.. if you don't know what you want, just tell her what you like and let her do her thing! Verona was usually our waitress wherever we ate and she remembered our drink orders after the first night. As soon as you sat down, your drinks were on the way. All the food was excellent, far better than most resorts, but by all means order the tuna steak at the resort restaurant Oceana. One of the best "steaks" I have ever had. Covid precautions were followed and the resort was clean. They arranged for our Covid tests to return home. The only negative comment I can think of is that the music at the pool sometimes went until 1 or 2 am, then private Bluetooth speakers after that. I'm old and my party til dawn days are long over. If a quiet room is important, make sure you mention that when you check in. My room was closest to the diveshop so that was more important to me. Great resort, but Norma(my Jamaican sister) Verona, and Jorge made my vacation perfect. We will return when airfares drop again.
