Aston at the Waikiki Banyan has scheduled upcoming maintenance, renovation and modernization projects which may impact guest accommodations.
Elevator Modernization Project
- Elevator modernization work will commence on April 22, 2024, and continue through April 30, 2025.
- Work will be limited to Monday – Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
- Each elevator will take approximately 13 weeks to modernize.
- Each tower has four elevators, and only one elevator will be out of order at a time. Therefore, throughout this project, there should be three remaining elevators in each tower in operation for use by owners and guests.
6th Floor Recreation Deck Restroom Renovation
- Work has already started and, barring any unforeseen circumstances, will be completed by May 27, 2024.
- Work will be limited to Monday – Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
- While the project is ongoing, the 6th floor restrooms and the sauna will be closed.
- The BBQs and recreation deck remain accessible for all owners and guests. The pool and Jacuzzis will remain open for use until the Annual Pool & Jacuzzi Maintenance project (described below) begins.
Annual Pool & Jacuzzi Maintenance
- Beginning April 29, 2024, the swimming pool and Jacuzzis will be temporarily closed for annual maintenance work.
- Barring any unforeseen circumstances, both pool and Jacuzzis are scheduled to re-open on Saturday, May 18.
- Work hours will be limited to Monday – Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Good location, Room was not great

We are not terribly picky travelers and normally don't complain. In fact, we were already settled and so busy with traveling, we didn't tell the staff until after we checked out about the issues we faced. We didn't expect to stay long in the room since we planned many excursions and outings so we just dealt with these issues. We traveled with a large family so it was important to have a full-size refrigerator which was a big reason why we booked this property along with the location. The service upon arrival was great. Ashley was so welcoming and made a good first impression. The hallways were outdated and dirty. It smelled and the paint was chipping. We booked two rooms and both were outdated and dirty. I wished I had booked a renovated room through AirBnB instead of directly from the hotel. Upon arrival, the cleaning cart was in our room so we had to wheel it out. Not sure if they were done servicing our room. The water temperature of our shower was unpredictable. Whether we turned the knob in various directions or didn't move it at all, the temperature would go from freezing cold to scalding hot at random times. I had to stand by the restroom while my kids took showers because they would scream about the water temperature. It was very dangerous. The body wash bottle was also missing from the wall. The lock to our room didn't always work. When we left for the day, we checked the door and it would still open. We tested putting the deadbolt on and you could still open the door without using the key! Check your room doors before you leave! We had to keep re-inserting the card key to trick the door into locking. It was frustrating and scary to think that our lock didn't work. The parking was decent but the spaces were very tight. If you come back in the evening, all of the better spots were taken. The elevators are very slow and very full in the mornings. The location is probably the best part of this property -- just 2 blocks from the beach.

We really enjoyed our time in Waikiki. I was worried when I read other people’s reviews but I had a great stay at the Banyan. Rooms were clean and I did not see any bugs whatsoever!!! The location was the best..2 minutes to food, beach and stores.
