The location, beach club, grounds etc are awesome. Food.....not a ton of choices but what they have is top quality. One of the few smaller places that still serve good chicken breast, homemade pizza and tender beef. The rooms are smaller and a little older....but for the price and the amount of time you spend in the room you can't complain. Wifi needs major help.......best place is at the beach club. Service is top notch at dinners / lunches. Front staff is inconsistent. We were charged two different prices for our split stay.....not much more but why wasn't it the same ? Bar service was good. We would definitely stay again as we love the area.

I had an amazing trip, I must say that this was one of the most interesting trips so far in Mexico!! When I got the the airport I had a driver waiting for me and together we drove about an hour and a half towards Puerto Escondido. The driver was so nice. We stopped halfway at a small restaurant on the side of the road for lunch and had excellent food. Once I got to the hotel I was given a room in the 300 block. The hotel is small but clean. It is not recent but is feels comfortable. The room itself was tiny, no safe, no fridge and quite old with a very small window with a “garden view” Where you really had to stretch out of the window to see the “view”. It felt a little like a prison cell for its size and view. The bed was comfortable though. I requested an upgrade with ocean view and a balcony but since it was a holiday all rooms were booked until the next day so I slept in that small room the first night and was given an upgrade (what a change!!) the very next morning. The new room in the 400 block had been renovated and had a fridge and a balcony ocean front. There is a safe at reception which requires two keys. One with the reception and one is given to you. I was not worried about the safety in my room. I left my go pro and iPad and jewelry and nothing ever went missing. The cleaning staff is so sweet and nice. I spent time chatting with them. Paola was the sweetest. Tip them well. They make only a few dollars a day! I did opt to leave my passport in the safe just in case. The hotel rests about 80ft above the ocean and the garden is beautiful. You can see the sun set every night! There are two pools and a bar on the main garden and a pool and bar/restaurant on the beach. I counted 107 steps up from the beach to the hotel but it was an easy walk up. They also offer a shuttle for those who have mobility issues. The pool at the beach is large and there are many beach chairs and tables. Lunch was served down there. The food was ok but I rarely ate at the hotel. Breakfast and dinner are served at the hotel buffet style and for the most part is was quite good. I only ate mexican food but they did offer a few American dishes which were not interesting to me. Naccocho beach is beautiful and clean but the surf is strong and swimming is not recommended although past the rocks there is a small cove called playa coral where you can swim (and I saved a baby dolphin which was beached by the waves) with the help of a few other people who showed up. There were rarely many people on that beach and it was perfect for a swim! On Baccocho there is a turtle sanctuary a few meters from club coco where you can learn about the turtles of Mexico, their endangerment and you can release a baby turtle to the sea for 100pesos. What an emotional experience!! About a km from the hotel is a trendy area with restaurants where I went for breakfast a few times and even a gastronomic dinner at a place called Almoraduz where a local Chef prepared local ingredients with exceptional flavours. The meal cost about 1000 pesos with the wine and dessert. I visited many beaches and restaurants in town and walked to the local market. I even found a night market on the streets next to playa de la piedra and met so many nice people and vendors. People are so nice. I also hired a cab for 220 pesos for an hour and he took me to a few shops for things I wanted to buy. The sun is way hot and I went through 3 bottles of 50spf and still burnt!! A hat was necessary but also because I walked everywhere. On the beach at playa angelito the men go swimming for oysters and around 1pm open them and you can buy a platter and watch them shuck them for you. There are restaurants lining the beach and you can buy a drink or food and get a nice beach chair and umbrella. I met so many Interesting people including a lady (Malu who works at a restaurant called Estrellas gourmet. She even made me a meal for the plane and dropped it off at my hotel the morning I was leaving) she helps out with a local shelter and took me to her house to meet a little handsome three year old chihuahua who would make a great friend for my dog in Canada. My travel agency was amazing at securing his passage with WestJet and we went to the vet to get a checkup, shots and papers to travel back to Canada. It was a breeze going through customs!! The entire trip was something else, I could talk about everything I lived for an hour but this is the gist. I would recommend the hotel. It was perfect and close to everything. I must say that the a la carte restaurant which is open Tuesday Thursday and Saturday was not worth it except for the river rock fish soup which was AMAZEBALLS!! Also some things are not included in the price of the all inclusive. For example premium liquors and espresso. The cappuccino was more expensive than at the local trendy coffee shop a km away called el cafecito. But at 48 pesos it really wasn’t that bad. This was the first time I stayed in a hotel that was less than 5 stars or diamonds and I must say that for the price this was really surprising. The staff was kind and attentive and Sunday night is the Mexican meal at the dinner buffet and was amazing. The menu changes everyday and I always found traditional foods deemed worthy of Oaxaca cuisine but do not be scared to wander out and try the local restaurants you will be pleased with the options and the wonderful flavours of Mexico. There are so many beautiful things to discover in Puerto Escondido definitely a place to recommend and super safe to walk around. You can book trips with a local travel agency on Avenida benito Juárez and will pay less than with your travel company but even better you can go to the marina in sector hidalgo at playa principal and negotiate a tour to see the dolphins and go fishing for 500 pesos and it is super safe. You can bring your drinks and food. Playa manzanillo and playa Angelita are walking distance as well and good for swimming. All I can say is leave the resort and go exploring. This is a beautiful town filled with exceptional people and experiences!

Someone said "Hidden Gem"...if you're looking for someplace to kick back & come down from the hectic pace of your everyday life, this is the place. Rooms are nice & very clean; most have been upgraded I heard. The grounds are well cared for & the beach is miles long. Staff is amazing & they try to accommodate all your wishes. Most speak English and they're more than happy to play Charades or Pictionary if you stumble across someone who's not well versed in English. The maids are lovely ladies and all the wait staff are amazing. The SunWing rep is Vlad & even though we were WestJet guests, he went way above to help us. Thanks, Vlad, & thank you to allllll the great staff at Posada!

The accommodations were good - we were happy we opted for the upgrade to ocean view with balcony (many rooms do not have a balcony). The staff was superb, from the wait staff in all the bars, restaurants and pool areas, to the maid service. The food was adequate. Not extensive buffets, but a good selection of food that tasted good. The beach and pool areas were top notch, and we loved that we could go anytime of day and always find a chaise lounge. Don't miss the turtle release just 200 meters north on the beach - 100 pesos and great memories and helping an endangered species. The one downside was the really terrible wifi - only available in the lobby and main restaurant. It worked sometimes, but usually not well - just wanted to try to keep in touch with family. They should upgrade the wifi and have it available in the rooms for a fee even - maybe someday. If you're looking for a quiet vacation within walking distance to restaurants and beaches, this is the place to go. We would definitely go back to the Posada Real.

Stayed for 3 nights over Valentine's Day and really enjoyed it! Multiple pools, beach access and club, lounge chairs and even hammocks! We only ate at the breakfast buffet, and it was great. My only complaint would be that the beach bar is understaffed: waited 10-15 minutes in line for drinks every time, and the beach hostess took a drink order once and never returned! At least the hanging chairs at the beach bar made the wait time fun. Lots of chairs set up to watch the beautiful sunsets and there were a couple of weddings and even a music video filming while we were there.
