    Great location in Kailua-Kona

The hotel is not 5 star, but it is clean, friendly, great parking area, and close to many stores and restaurants (all within a short walk). We live in East Hawaii but love to go to the West Side to rest, eat and drink at Outback, and relax watching the dolphins in Kailua Bay from the Hotel. I personally love the private lagoon for snorkeling and swimming. There are lots of tropical fish there and sometimes a Honu (green sea turtle) comes in during high tide.

Great oceanfront hotel at a very reasonable price. Great bar. Older rooms but kept up nicely, but this seems to be the Hawaii norm unless a brand new facility. No beach at hotel, would need to drive a ways to get to a sandy beach. Very close, walking distance to Kona waterfront restaurants and stores.

    Very dated but amazing lagoon

The hotel itself is very dated and the rooms need work. Old school showers over the bath and carpets are so tired and worn. Balcony also very low...not one to risk with children unless you are on ground floor! Staff are very helpful and bar area is lovely with views over the ocean. Sunset there is superb. Pool is fine but bizarrely only few deck chairs and even few umbrellas. So finding somewhere to relax by pool is hard. There is a lagoon area which is so cool! Little sand area area and then few steps into a beautiful lagoon. Lots fish and only 4/5 feet deep so amazing snorkelling. This for me is highlight of hotel. No actual beach at hotel but is a beach 5 minutes walk away. Location is spot on for local bars and restaurants. Shame hotel is so dated as staff and lagoon are amazing.

Awesome experience and wonderful and friendly staff.

Our experience at the hotel was nothing short of wonderful. The staff was very welcoming and helpful. As soon as we came we were greeted warmly. We also had help with our bags to our rooms. The staff were so welcoming, and polite. Parking was convenient. The view was very intriguing. The room was clean and cool. We also had the opportunity to take a tour around the hotel, and check out the ponds and the ocean. We had a great time.

Pros: 1) lovely resort right on the ocean 2) staff is very friendly and helpful 3) beds were comfortable 4) food in restaurant and bar/grill was very good, if a bit pricey 5) sitting on balcony with ocean waves coming in right below and view of the ocean was fabulous. 6) A/C worked beautifully! (Some resorts don’t even have a/c, and the humidity makes a/c a MUST! 7) Easy stroll to several restaurants. Cons: 1) no microwave in room 2) Tub in room 474 was very slow draining Neither pro nor con: 1) currently being worked on. Construction can be a noise issue during the day. However, we’re glad to see them updating this 1960s resort. We’ll be back!
