It was awesome but it isn’t my go to for Vegas

lolitarocks (Murrieta, California) on Apr 09, 2024

I literally LOVED this resort! If you look through my previous reviews, I’ve definitely stayed at my fair share of places in Vegas. Mandalay Bay pretty much has it all in one place. Initially I was slightly discouraged by the pricing, but it ended up being well worth it. For those who don’t want to walk the strip, this hotel checks those boxes. It pretty much has it all. The gentleman at the check in desk was pleasant and allowed me to check in early with no fees. I’d already been in Vegas for 3 days on business by the time I checked in so I was beyond appreciative. The room was great, casino floor was awesome, tons of restaurants and shops and it was just a good time! My only complaint is the mini fridge!!! I found it frustrating the fridge in the room was just for the mini bar items. I’m sorry… 12$ for a 12 ounce can on soda is utter nonsense, there is literally zero excuse other than they can. No one likes to feel ripped off. If you want to keep any of your items cold on your room, it will require a cooler. Fine if you’re driving in from SoCal, but overall a fail. 52$ a night on report fees and then no fridge?? Not to mention to resort fees are already a rip off. Pool fees when it’s not pool season lol. Frustrating, but UGH Vegas. Plenty of other hotels on the strip, more centrally located that will at least give you an option of a fridge to house your morning caffeine without charging you 1$ per ounce for it. Even resorts world has the fridge split in half. One half is over priced whatever and you get a small enough space to stash a drink. Not at Mandalay Bay! Amenities inside the resort, top tier! Gaming floor was awesome and I had a good time. Gift shops weren’t over priced and House of Blues was as amazing. Mandalay Bay wouldn’t be my go to place in Vegas, but overall it was a great experience.

Terrible Customer Experience

Frank J on Apr 08, 2024

Yeah, it's a fancy resort, and it's among the more expensive, but it's just not worth it. I'm barely 4 hours into the trip and I'm regretting the decision to stay here already. My key card has failed twice, and I was told to wait on a long check-in line to reactivate it. What was even more disappointing is that I found out my key card didn't work when I was turned away from the pools because they are closing three hours early for a private event. Mandalay boast about how great it's pool is, but you wouldn't know based on the dejected look of the 100 or so people who were ushered out of the pool area to accommodate whoever bought the whole thing out and caused it to close early. Apparently the pool is not covered in the resort fee either, so there's no concession there. Do yourself a favor and stay somewhere else that cares about it's guests and doesn't haphazardly deny access to the amenities that caused you to book in the first place.

Excellent weekend at Mandalay!

snacstang (New York City, New York) on Apr 08, 2024

Just had a fantastic weekend at Mandalay Bay. I’ve gone to Vegas so many times and usually stay center strip (Cosmo, Palazzo, etc) and have never stayed here. We checked in a few days in advance on the MGM app, which I highly recommend. On the app, we stated that we’d arrive by 11am on Friday and by 9:30am the day of our arrival, the app said our room was ready. We were given the room details and a digital key card and an option to obtain physical key cards at kiosks in the lobby, which I did. It was so easy, no waiting in line, and the kiosk signs in the lobby were easy to find and I got 4 keys for my family. When we pulled up to the hotel entrance outside of the lobby, it took a few minutes to find a bellman with a cart for our luggage (I saw only two staff members), but they were very friendly and reminded us that they would get to us as soon as possible. Once they did, the attendant, Mike, was very courteous and after we reached our room, our bags arrived just a few minutes later. I had to call guest services with a few questions throughout our stay and they were always warm and courteous. Based on some reviews here, I didn’t have high expectations of guest services, so I was pleasantly surprised. The room was great, well appointed, clean and modern. It also had a nice view of Mandalay Beach and all the pools and some of the airport runways. My kids loved seeing the planes and helicopters come and go. We were on the 17th floor and the room was quiet. As for the hotel layout and location, the hotel is huge, so my little kids didn’t love the walk to the restaurants in the shoppes. We really enjoyed Ri Ra Irish Pub though, super friendly server, good food and kid friendly. We loved that Mandalay Beach was accessible from the same elevator that you can access your room. I don’t love when you have to walk through part of a hotel in your bathing suit to get to the pool. They have an excellent pool area that we all enjoyed. The location on the strip is great and more chill, but also super close to everything else. Overall, a fantastic weekend and we’d definitely stay again!

Horrible Experience. Stay somewhere else!!!

Brad G on Apr 04, 2024

Horrible check-in experience. Checked in early. Front desk person said we would get a check-in text by 3:00 PM. Didn’t receive a text. Stood in line for 45 min as there was no one available to help us after I check with Concierge desk. Got to front counter and was told they still couldn’t help us. Had the rooms in my sisters name although I booked everything with my travel agent. Won’t stay here again or gamble here.
