Arrived on a Monday afternoon folowing an 11 hour flight from Gatwick we were quickly ushered into our room after a quick check in that was great! Room - I've visited a few Secrets hotels and knew what I would get, however this turned out a little smaller, whilst most Secrets are big affairs, this is one of thier small affairs and I must say we were not disappointed, it was all there just smaller! One note to mention, all rooms are semi- detached chalets spread out over the complex and to get to them there are steep hills, although a shuttle service is offered, on the occaision we did use it, they did take a while. Food-all the food was of a good standard, however the Market Cafe was the buffet restaurant and as most places the food was not always hot! The other restaurants served food of a very good standard which we both enjoyed. Specail mention to Anna of the Sea Food grill who took time to help us with our Spanish! Drinks - Yes well it was all there and Im glad to say that they had people like Kelly and Louis serving us as we sat in the sun! Out Doors- the whole facility is set over a large area and well kept, the pools were well kept and very warm which was nice. The beach was the same although I will suggest that you don't walk on the dry sand in bare feet after the sun has been on it a while. Have heard reviews of this establishment giving you the hard sale, well I didn't encounter that at all! Beware smokers you can only smoke on the beach and you could be fined serious money if you are caught! I must admit I did enjoy this rule as a non smoker. In summary I would recommend this hotel and the weather!

We stayed for 6 nights. All-Inclusive with really good buffet options for Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner. They also have snacks, drinks and ice cream in between meals. There is a main bar, 2 pool bars and a sports bar. I recommend having Centario Costa Rica rum on the rocks - very tasty. We stayed in the Master Suite room which was amazing. Lots of space in the living room, huge master bedroom and 1.5 baths, including a rain shower and jetted tub. We had our 12 and 9 years olds with us, and they placed 2 rollaway beds in the living room - so the kids had their owns beds and my wife and I had our own room/bed. The back deck was really great and overlooked one of the pools, so we could keep and eye on the kids. Great staff, very friendly. And the iguanas, howlers, etc were a nice addition to the property. Only 30 minutes from Liberia Airport - tops.

Lovely friendly relaxing hotel great location on the beach staff very friendly and helpful the reason for four instead of five stars is lack of shade around pool area (no umbrellas) no lobby bar or area internally to have drinks before and after meal . I would return .

Pool that was open was always dirty with many leaves etc in it. Difficult to walk on grounds.... no paved walking areas between pools and to access the beach. Did not like that there were 3 days with locals at the pool bar drinking for the day and eating in the restaurant as well. Resort should not be open for local workers during premium travel times.

My wife and I arrived home in Liberia Costa Rica on March 9, 2019. It had been 8.5 years since our last visit to this beautiful region. We left Canada's cold dreary weather behind flying with Air Canada. The flight was a short 5.5 hours. We were greeted at the airport by warm breezes. The world (outside the air-conditioned bus) was commented on with pride, humour and promise of adventures. We arrived 20 minutes later at the Casa Conde Beach Front Hotel amongst ancient trees covered in vines. We were handed a special Passionfruit drink amongst the welcoming faces of the Casa Conde family. We determined immediately that this resort was a place to restore, relax and rejuvenate our souls. The Manger Paulo informed us we were upgraded to a Superior Room from the Garden Suite at no charge. Our first room, 101-C was a lovely surprise. It was on the first floor facing the “road” we had a stone and wrought-iron framing of trees and the amazing songs of wildlife especially in the morning to listen to. And while we did face the road it was only 'busy' on the weekend – not loud or obnoxious either. We could never hear any noises when the patio doors were closed. Indeed in the hour before sunset we watched, from our porch, the happy families walking back in the soft golden glow after spending the day at the beach. There is an elderly woman who watches the cars for the locals and she offered us warm smiles as we came up the walkway to our room. One day we met her on the beach and she showed us how to shell a tamarind pod! This was just another example of the wonderfulness of the Ticos. Other than these times this room had more privacy than other spots as it was at the farthest corner and not on a main walkway. This room felt like a hideaway from the rest of the resort. Everything was well-appointed, clean. Two queen beds with soft linens and plenty of pillows. Bathroom, with deep tub, and (to us) lots of space. More than enough storage spots and hangers. Air conditioning worked very well and was easy to program. Our last 3 nights we upgraded to a Master Suite (201A) also on the ground floor. Wow. Felt like royalty! If we were travelling with family or friends this is an amazing option. The suite must have had approximately 1600 sq feet to enjoy! The views from the three terraces that each Master Suite has are stunning and you will feel like you're in heaven watching the spectacular sunsets over the ocean. Since we were on the ground floor, we could walk right out to the pool from the terraces. As well the pool bar was easily accessible. Thank you to Luis and Bryan Steven for treating us so well there. We happily spent our days in the glow of nature that envelopes Casa Conde; exploring when we felt like it. The grounds of the resort, as well the surrounding areas, are simply glorious, peaceful and inspiring. Days spent hanging out at the pool, having boardroom conferences at the swim-up bar with new found friends (a clean, never out of stock bathroom is literally steps away), drying off in the sun or shade eating snacks that were brought around by courteous smiling staff, or popping over to the snack area for yummy ice cream bars, pizza, burgers ect. Organized excursions were readily available and a trip into town was not only scenic but fun and safe (even went into a grocery store for coffee and treats to bring home). The van driver even overheard us talking about missing the howler monkeys at resort the previous day and he spied and stopped the van for us right under a family of Howlers. We ate every meal outside except for our dinner at the seafood restaurant (mmm seared tuna cooked to order). To be outside, eating amazing food, saying hello to the wonderful people who work hard to create this oasis. Every evening there was something special being made to go along with the other delectable foods. When we expressed an interest in how to make the Pupusas that were being made from scratch in front of us not only did the lovely woman explain it to us, but we also were given exact measures by another gentleman. The two barbeques (one in the open space surrounded by lights and beautifully set tables – and a fire with marshmallows and sticks nearby), paella, a salad bar that was phenomenal in its freshness and different toppings. The food always showed thoughtfulness and a desire to elevate...examples broccoli with a sesame flavour, beans wrapped in the fluffiest omelet I have ever had. Honestly- the food was the best we have had anywhere. The Ribs were melt in your mouth good. The sauce to die for!!! Nothing ever seemed mass produced and you were not forced to be carb-dependant. The balance of provided choices are healthy – with treats being of quality. Special, delicious and creative drinks would arrive by our sides as we dined. Heber, is a magician and a true gentleman. Heber, you are the ambassador of Casa Conde. The drinks you made were the best we have ever experienced anywhere we have travelled to. Heber, thank you for taking care of my wife Gwendolyn and I. Gwendolyn's new favorite drink is you Vodka, pineapple and basil. We never would have thought to put basil in a drink. Your creations are amazing!! There are no slushy drink machines in this resort. Everything is made by hand and each drink is made special for you. We did a lot of research before choosing Casa Conde. We like smaller, quieter resorts that leave room for 'celebration' :) where we can search out activities on our own should we choose. And this haven is so much more than we expected. During our stay we celebrated my birthday – and in a miriad of ways we were shown the uniqueness of the exceptional people who make up a resort that has captured our hearts. Never have we ever been treated so well. From the head chef Miche to Hebert. My 55th birthday will be one that I'll always cherish!! The special dinner you both put together for Gwendolyn and I was absolutely unexpected but so I appreciated! To those thinking about booking this resort. If you are someone who needs to be entertained almost every waking hour when you are at a resort please don't book this resort. However, if you are looking for relaxation, luxury, romance and you know how to make your own fun, then this is the place for you. To the General Manager Randal Lara, whatever you are doing, keep doing it. You should be very proud of all the wonderful staff you employ. They make the Casa Conde Beach Front Hotel ESPECTACULAR!!!! Pura Vida indeed! Te Vere de nuevo
