Great resort to visit with lots of pools, restaurants, staff treated us like family often bringing us snacks at the pool without even asking. You could relax in peace or go to party at different pools around the property.

Was a little worried reading about the Virus going around the hotel. Everything was sparkling clean and there was hand Sanitize Gel around everywhere. We reserved a Cabana on the Beach for Friday and that was good. The Waiter service was lacking a little, but there was a portable bar, close enough to just walk up and get a drink. Saturday we had a Cabana reserved on the Pool area, There as a little confusion on who Reserved the Cabana. But Sergio handled it for us quickly. Room was clean nice, They did not restock the Mini Bar snack at all. A few hall ways at night, the auto lights did not come on when we were walking down or back to our room from Dinner or the show. We will be back for sure. Soon Hopefully.

This is a nice place, but I don’t think it belongs in the $500+ a night category. The wait to check in at reception was surprisingly long and chaotic (only two people working the main desk), and after we did check in we were subjected to a timeshare-esque sales pitch trying to get us to attend a “VIP breakfast” for their new property in the area. We’d had a long trip that day and we really just wanted to get our rooms and start relaxing, so this wasn’t particularly welcome, not to mention being somewhat unbecoming of a 5-star property. The food we had at every restaurant was excellent, definitely met the 5-star standard, but there isn’t as much choice as it first appears. Two of the main dinner restaurants were closed on our first night there and the hibachi place supposedly books up days in advance (free tip: we got a spot just by showing up to the restaurant on the spot and asking for one). So you need to plan ahead. Also, even though it’s supposedly a high-end all-inclusive, it is still an all-inclusive, so things did get a bit rowdy (ie, loud) after 4pm. If you’re looking for a quiet view of the sunset, try to avoid the drunk groups in and around the pool. All that said, this is a beautiful property with solid amenities, and the staff are all very nice. I just don’t think it belongs in the $500+ a night category.

We had a great time. Food was excellent! Lots of Pool space....chairs always available. The grounds were very beautiful lots of different plants and trees. Great service. A nice breeze the whole time. They had some great entertainers in the CoCo Cafe. (Flute and Violinist were excellent). We would visit again. Monkeys were fun.

Wow, what a trip it's been and I haven't even left for Costa Rica yet. I was set to visit this hotel in June, prepaid, non refundable deposit. I was reading the reviews, as normal, to get new ideas from current guests. This is how I stumbled on the virus outbreak of January and February of 2019. About five weeks into constant complaints from reviewers who were letting us know in TA - Land, I started to think this was more of a hotel issue than a simple virus that just should go away after a few weeks. That's when I started emailing the hotel. If there was a problem, I wanted to know about it before I had to pay the other 4k of my total. I got a canned response back. You can see what the response is when you read the other virus reviews and see the same canned response. I wrote to them again asking for more information because the canned response didn't seem to match up with what reviewers were saying. They didn't write back. They just ignored me. So, I went to corporate. It's easy enough to see who their parent corporation is, and since it was in America, I figured why not. I emailed them. Nothing. By now, horrible reviews are being posted on TA about total lack of hygiene and the canned response was seeming more and more preposterous as people were falling ill. It was impossible to get the country of Costa Rica to respond, so I reached out to the parent corp again. I said I wanted more of a definitive response so I could gauge whether or not to cancel my vacation, and this was not the time for them to be silent. I told them that the CDC should get involved, especially since so many Americans were being affected. Still no response. Then, under the TA questions and answers for this property, I came across another concerned party who asked if the hotel was going to contact the CDC. I answered that I had tried to bring that up and the hotel just ignored me. Based on THAT answer on the question forum, within 72 hours of posting that, I was contacted by legal counsel of the hotel down in Costa Rica. He told me to pull down my answer on the question thread or he would sue me. I reminded him that I had a first amendment right to discuss my experiences and opinions, and he continued to threaten me, saying I was defaming the hotel. I asked him how, and he pointed to one of the emails I sent to corporate about notifying the CDC (which proves they do read their emails and ignored me on purpose). I tried to tell him that talking directly to a party about themselves is not defamation. He continued to threaten me with litigation. That's when I replied to him from my official email that lists me as the owner of my own law firm. I explained to him that I was a lawyer and was very familiar with defamation lawsuits and was absolutely certain I had breached no laws in the USA, so I told him to back off or I'd expose him for trying to threaten TA reviewers with unjustified legal action that would never hold up. Suddenly he becomes apologetic, but I'm wondering how many other TA reviewers did he bully and get them to change their reviews before he ran into me? If I wasn't a lawyer, I could see how scary it would be to be threatened like that over a review. In any event, the virus looked like it cleared up (or there was a "sudden" influx of good reviews), and I was prepared to put it all behind me and look forward to my trip. But then I called into the hotel to request a certain room reservation and what did the specialist say to me? "Oh, you've been in contact with corporate." Gee, I wonder how they knew that... It was at that point I realized my reservation was tainted and it would be impossible to go to the hotel without the threats following me. I cancelled and thankfully my booking agent got my money back. I had originally asked the hotel to cover it, since they caused the issue, but haven't heard back from them. (Not shocking.) I'm sure this hotel has a lot of great things to offer, but threatening guests with legal action for honest reviews and questions is bad behavior and I didn't feel comfortable going ahead with my trip. I don't doubt that others will have a lovely time here. Just don't voice up BEFORE your vacation...
