Awesome time!

We had a great time in Jamaica! Great food, drinks and entertainment. Javell who was one of the bartenders was incredible! He was so friendly and welcoming! He always anticipated our needs and made sure we were okay. We will definitely be back!!

Average at best!

jim r on Apr 18, 2024

Room was very nice and housekeeping did a wonderful job keeping room clean and well stocked. Very disappointed in availability of chairs on the beach. If you don't have butler service you can forget getting a beach chair in the shade. We enjoy sitting on the beach and the 4 days we were there we were able to get a beach chair 2 days and both times were in the sun. This is a bad problem throughout the resort. The food was average at best. The breakfast was very good but the dinners were not good. When we got there we tried to get a reservation at Butch's but we were told that no reservations were available for the 4 nights we were there. I ran into a butler on our 2nd day and asked him if I gave him $20 could he get us a reservation? He came back in an hour and we had a reservation. The food at Butch's was average at best. We also ate at the Italian restaurant and our meal was not good. The fish sandwich we had at lunch every day was better than the fish we had at the restaurants at night. It's a beautiful resort and the people are very nice. Problems were beach chairs and food quality. We had been here 10 years ago and had similar experiences. Will not be back.

Disappointed with Sandals

Traci K (Milton Keynes, United Kingdom) on Apr 17, 2024

This was our second visit to a Sandals resort - the first being Barbados. We had high expectations and sadly Montego Bay did not deliver. It's not the actual resort.... We were very happy with our room - and with the service across the resort - but there were a few things that just didn't deliver the Sandals promise. Particularly "Romance". We soon learned that if you wanted a sunbed you had to be down there with your towel at 6.00am. The problem was simple. The Butlers were reserving sunbeds for their clients. But to make matters worse imagine 4 sunbeds together. The sun shade is in between the 2 couples of beds. The Butlers were reserving those two beds (the ones either side of the shade - leaving 2 beds - 1 either side of their happy couples. That needs to be stopped. That isn't naughty holiday makers taking the beds early in the day... that is Sandals staff leaving 2 customers for every shade without a sunbed. Really poor. Next - the restaurants. The quality was nowhere near as good as it was in Barbados. The hype around Butch's meant it was really hard to get a reservation there. We got one but the food was nothing to get excited about and what was worse was the restaurant was half empty and after 8.15pm no new customers came in. No wonder people couldn't get a reservation there? It was like it closed at 9pm? We did enjoy the caribbean restaurant (Oleander) and the Bayside Restaurant in the evening and the Thai restaurant at the Plantation resort was worth a visit. Breakfast at the Bayside was also very nice . The servers were all really lovely but as an example my husband ordered a gorgonzola salad. When it arrived there was no gorgonzola - to which we were told they had run out. Surely they should tell you that when you place your order? We were warned that the resort would be busy but we weren't prepared for the noise levels of the groups that gathered at the swim up bar every afternoon. The DJ cranked up the music to a ridiculous level (if you were eating in the Jerk Shack you couldn't hear each other talking), the pool was full of people drinking and there they stayed all afternoon, getting louder and louder - and then the screaming and shrieking...... far from romantic. We had a swim up room. It was near the pool bar. The noise was way too much. Sandals bills itself as a romantic luxury holiday for 2 people in love. It's not that any more. It's a very expensive free for all. It's unlikely we will come back to a Sandals after this experience.

Great Vacation at Sandals Montego Bay Again!

Odyssey712013 on Apr 14, 2024

We had been to Sandals Montego Bay on four previous occasions, always in July, This was the first time, however, that we went on "Welcome Home Week," formerly "Reunion Week." It was, indeed, lots of fun! And, as always, we enjoyed our vacation there. Our thanks to General Manager Chris Elliot and his staff, to our wonderful butlers Milisea and Antonio, our housekeeper Kandice, and the ladies from the Red Lane Spa, Verona and Kayon, who gave us a very relaxing and enjoyable treatment. Of course, our thanks to the rest of the staff - groundkeepers, bartenders, water sports, and all the restaurants sfaff. All of you make the guests feel welcomed "home," indeed. We also went to Royal Caribbean for dinner at the Thai, Bombay and Spices. Thanks to all the dinning staff there as well, particularly to Keisha at Spices. She was awesome! Last but not least, we did the Martha Brea Rafting, and that was a fantastic, relaxing, and enjoyable experience. Thanks to our raft captain, Kenton (#137). He was very friendly and informative. Again, we enjoy our vacations at Sandals Montego Bay, and we are looking forward to our return to that resort this Fall!

Sandals customer, but honest review.

Steve W (Three Rivers, Michigan) on Apr 13, 2024

Concierge service was very disappointing. Do not feel it was an upgrade at all considering the service at South Coast. This was a short birthday getaway and it fell flat. We couldn't book at Butch's for a birthday dinner no matter how hard we tried. Staff talked the correct words (at times) but you could read thier eyes....they don't care & hate thier job. The room was dirty upon arrival. Hair on the floor & shower. The air-conditioning beeped constantly. They disabled it on the first day after we voiced concern & never came back to put in the remote until our last day. The rug under the bed was was absolutely filthy- please check room 214. We were considering a swim up room, but glad we didn't. The bottom of that pool area was very dirty--looked like mold on the tile/floor area.I would NOT recommend this resort to a friend due to these 2 reasons. Tokyo Joe's & the pool by Bayside have the same rotted out/sagging decking. The pool decking is roped off, but not the restaurant(?). We did leave Tokyo Joe's after our spring roll appetizer due to the lack of selection of vegetables for the stir-fry (only carrot, onion, & cabbage?) appetizers on menu unavailable, and general structure/maintenance of flooring and walls. On a lighter note-housekeeping was fantastic during our stay! Much better than South Coast. They restocked all linens/toiletries promptly & cleaned the room well. We felt taken care of by the housekeeping staff. Our fridge was restocked well (requests fulfilled w/"no problem") & we loved the large glass bottles for the H20 instead of plastic bottles. Joel & Sato at Soy were informative, helpful, fun, & charming. Suprisingly delightful sushi in JA! We came ONLY because it was my husband's 50th birthday. Despite telling every staff we met & putting it on our reservation information, nobody put in any effort to acknowledge his special day--except Leonardo at Latitudes. Thank you, Leonardo for making him a special Appleton cocktail on his special day! We love JA & frequent the Sandals brand, but we were very disappointed in Sandals Mobay. I felt terrible my husband got no recognition of his 50th birthday, despite telling multiple staff THAT is why we came. We felt the resort cleanliness, maintenance, and (heart felt) hospitality was lacking for a Sandals resort. We would not recommend or book another stay at this resort. We hope this review helps improve Sandals Mobay. Looking forward to our next stay at SRC in November. We will return to visit Soy & Latitudes at Mobay.
