We had the Sandals Butler experience, our butlers were the best! Andre was our #1 who took care of our every want need or desire. Meko worked with Andre and did an excellent job,Katrina was excellent in making us extra comfortable. Jackie did a good job also. The ride from the airport to and from was in a Rolls Royce and this resort has the best Food,Drink, comforts, all not to be outdone by anyone else,We have already booked our trip for next year. Memorable to say the least!

    Make the best of it....

In short, we had to make the best of it. The resort was beyond dated and the staff not accommodating. We are not very high maintenance, yet we were looking forward to this vacation and the resort was nothing but a let down. Here is a synopsis...The start of the vacation had us waiting for our "upgraded" room. When it was a pool walk out along the main path we asked to see our original room. The original room as my husband said to the woman was "worse then something you would see at a Motel along the NJ Turnpike". They then told us that the "upgraded" room was no longer available and had us wait another 40 minutes. They gave us the "upgraded" room again and we just made due. The amount of mold in this resort could give anyone with slight allergies issues. The carpets, hallways, rooms, everything. Having arrived on a Thursday late afternoon, we could not get ANY reservations other than 9:30 PM at the "nicer" restaurants. When we finally made it to dinner, our dinner took over two hours to arrive leaving us both to literally pass out at the empty restaurant table. The "private" island, is not private, it is shared/gated with other resorts. It is nice but the bar was disgusting, waiting in line for over 15 minutes every time you needed a drink. Also a complete bee hive, multiple people getting stung while trying to sit at the swim up bar. Their were of course the standout employees but majority were annoyed that we were there and requesting drinks/food. Every guest that we spoke with asked how we liked the resort and we told them the truth, they 99.9% of the time agreed. Always a common thread, make the best of it. When spending thousands of dollars, you don't want to make the best of it. We've concluded we will not be attending another Sandals. Would hate for someone else to spend hard earned money on a pretty horrible resort.

The stay itself was amazing! We had butler service and were spoiled out of our minds by Necia and Alshane! Even the butler trainee, Tanisha (sp?) Was spot on. From bringing our morning room service to dinner and spa appointments, we were never let down or left hanging. But they were never intrusive either. I actually cried when we had to leave them. They are just lovely people who make you feel like family. Alshane even walked us to the wedding office when I was feeling conspicuous in my dress. We were gifted a Retie the Knot ceremony by family and really thought it would just be a lark. But let me tell you, Keri and her crew went above and beyond to make sure it was fun but also beautiful and deeply meaningful. Christian, Johnny, and Philly worked by her side and it was wonderful. Christian especially made the private reception meaningful with his kind attention. Keri was by my side almost every minute and not a single detail escaped her attention. Even though it is a very busy wedding location they made us feel like their only clients with their attention to detail and service. We had professional photos done and our photographer was Darrington. He was so sweet and patient and I swear he made us look better than we really do! I highly recommend the candlelight dinner on the beach. We were lucky enough to have ours organized and served to us by Owen. He was wonderfly attentive and prompt without being intrusive. So personable and nice. Of course Alshane showed up to make sure everything was perfect. Did I mention the amazing butler service? The resort itself is impeccably clean. I love all the quiet private nooks that allow you privacy even in the middle of the busiest parts of the resort. With multiple hottubs and fire pits it was never difficult to get away from the bustle of the place and just enjoy each other. The restaurants are beautiful, the food in each one was never disappointing. Impeccable service and delicious food in every single one. Abigale at the Casanova on our last night really stood out in her service and friendliness. Of course Necia escorted us there and got us settled at our table with drinks. But even when we ran into Abigale the next day outside by the beach she was friendly and asked us if we needed anything! Every employee you passed, including those in management uniforms always greeted you and made sure you have everything you need. The private island was one of the most relaxing and fun parts of our stay. We snorkled over the coral farms, ate a delicious lunch at Schooners and snoozed by the pool. We also had our Retie the Knot ceremony there and it was gorgeous. The pilot, Sylvano went out of his way to approach from a direction to keep my dress dry. Our one low point was morning room service. We never once received it without interjection by our butlers, even when we ordered in advance as suggested. Necia and Alshane brought us our breakfast every day because of the terrible room service. More often than not they didn't even answer their phones. Did I mention how much we loved our wonderful butler team? All in all it was the vacation of my dreams and we're already planning our return trip.

Just prior to departure I checked the reviews - I had not done so at the time of booking (what could be wrong about Sandals?) - and I was horrified to read so many negative reports. What have I let myself in for, I thought! Sure, there is always going to be one or two who get on the wrong side of everything and it sours their experience (I even met one whilst I was there), but 40%? I need not have worried. This is a top-quality resort, highstandards, great customer service ethos. Look, nothing is ever 100%, and there are bound to be some slight errors. However, this place gets a very high score from me. . We stayed 11 nights. The resort has approximately 300 rooms in two blocks, together with some villas in the rear gardens. Between these blocks lie two pools, each as featured as signatures in the promotion literature, separated by a restaurant/entertainment/service block. One pool caters for the “lively” crowd, the other for “quiet use”. Tip here - if you are not part of the “Foam Party” day, and are sitting by the quiet pool, it is rather like living next to a fairground! A good day to go to the Offshore Island. What a great facility! A real change, there’s everything you need, great beach experience, and the restaurant there serves conch! The site is not wide - we estimated at about 350 yards. The beach is lovely - soft white sand, cleaned daily, nice little shelf, though not extensive swimming. However, it is not possible to go walking beyond the confines of the resort. Transfers were efficient, check in excellent - no information overload, although we took our time to get some reservations in for the speciality restaurants. Our room in the Balmoral Tower was comfortable, clean and reasonably fresh. We overlooked the service area, which had a constant generator noise (nothing you couldn’t get used to), but if you’re a bit sensitive to that, I would recommend a pool view room if possible. Our room maintenance was reasonable (can’t they just replace used glasses?). We did have a slight problem as the cistern in the WC sometimes failed to close off the water inlet completely. When it first happened to us, it took three attempts to get the maintenance man out, but he advised how to tweak it. He promised a new valve the following day, but I don’t think it happened – or didn’t cure it. Still, no risk of flood, and I guess they knew that all along. Our visit from 2/12 to 12/12 was at a quiet time, we had no difficulty getting sunbeds in good positions. We got reservations at the restaurants without too much trouble (although 7.30 to dine is rarely available on less than four days’ notice - you just need to be savvy). We only came unstruck one night when we turned up at Spices - buffet restaurant - at 7.30 to find a 40-minute wait. We went to the pub, but not a great experience! Service at the bars was excellent. No service at tables, you just go to the bar/server, but probably better for that. We experienced no delays. The staff are generally very good at their jobs here, if you want something different (a little stronger, perhaps) they do it willingly and they get used to your taste after a day or two. Special mention to Trevor at the piano bar. Restaurants - Spices is for the standard buffet meals. Good breakfast, fair choice, efficient egg station (would have liked some good crusty bread, though). Great choice and variety of food here for lunch. Probably the best range of dishes I’ve ever had for a buffet version. Baccarat is a la carte breakfast, a bit haphazard in service though. As to dinner, the restaurants (not the pub) are pretty good. Steaks are particularly good in the ‘reservation’ restaurants. Didn’t have a great experience at the Japanese Kimonos – the ambiance was a bit low, and the “entertainment” was limited. Otherwise, service excellent (a mention for Rashana at Gordon’s – always working at top speed!) We took the catamaran excursion - it was excellent, good service from the crew, nice stops, and good assistance with the snorkelling (especially the turtles). The brochure extolls the virtues of shopping in Nassau town. Don’t bother – it’s just so downmarket! Back to the resort - it’s a nice ambiance. The place is really well managed. The staff are invariably helpful and friendly (effusive, even). It’s a slick brand, very well thought through and executed. A bit artificial? Well, yes. There’s no way that the escargots are farmed locally, so they must be shipped in frozen, I guess. However, everything is done so beautifully you don’t resent it.

Sandals Royal Bahamian - Honeymoon trip

We chose this resort as our honeymoon destination. The welcome, the service, the organisation, the choice of restaurants, bars and quality of the food was all top notch. The staff at all levels are extremely friendly, helpful and professional. The activities are plentiful and varied. The room was very well equiped, very clean and comfortable with a fabulous view of the ocean. The day spent on the private islands opposite the hotel were fabulous. The hotel was extremely clean and the beach was even raked ever morning to remove the algae that the ocean had washed up during the night. One issue with the room is the air-conditioning system is very loud and even though we didn't use it we could not sleep with the window open as their were some external air-conditioning units outside. The Sandals Royal Bahamian website made the hotel look like a real paradise for honeymooners as only couples are accepted. However there are often activities, music and foam parties organised in one of the pools and the noise can be heard throughout the hotel. This did not always allow for a quiet and relaxing afternoon by the pool. One other point .at should definitely be improved is that fact that many couples who are friends will organise their holidays together and we experienced such a group of 8 couples that boiled down to 16 middle aged US couples reenacting a memorable "spring break" from 20 years back and drinking heavily from 10h30 when the bars open until late at night, laughing loudly, yelling, spending the whole day up their waist in the sea or hot tub with their drink coolers continuoulsy full of free cocktails and simply not respecting the intimacy, discretion and quiet that the majority of the guests are looking and paying for. These groups end up being the laughjng stock of the whole hotel and ruin the "classy" image that Sandals is trying to promote.
