A lovely immersion in an historic place.

With the impending closure of the Roosevelt, low rates, and a dip in crowds, I took the opportunity to staycate in my own city, and commune with the past. Suffice to say, I'm so happy to have had the chance to cloister within these walls for a night. I took the opportunity to walk around the building during my stay, wave hello to Governor Dewey's room on the 15th floor, pass by the 3rd floor room where dance instruction was once offered in the '40s, and use the reliable WiFi to stream the YouTube video of the Guy Lombardo's 1957 New Year's Eve broadcast from the grill downstairs. With fewer guests, you miss the "hustle and bustle" aspect, but instead get the opportunity for quiet contemplation. The staff was perfectly nice, everyone's following mask guidelines. Elsa, the manager on duty at my check-out, couldn't have been nicer and was obviously running a very tight ship, but took the time to help me identify some of the areas of the hotel I'd read about in my geekish historical research. Now is the time for vintage-minded New Yorkers to spend a night, if only to say you've done it!

The cozy and slightly approvable facilities, very elegant but more careful with the people who manage to make reservations see some individuals a little bad in the corridor with possible problems for the guests, outside of this the very good customer service and in an excellent cosmopolitan location in new york city

Our family stayed here for a few nights and we had a very good experience. Centrally located for touring around the City. Rooms were good but are showing their age a little. Staff were polite and efficient. Lobby& reception area magnificent, clean & tidy.

Excellent stay here. Very homely and a nice personal touch. Staff all really friendly. Would stay again. The reception staff especially were helpful and went over and above to ensure we were happy and were having a good stay.
Dirty hotel and poor customer service

I stayed here for a bachelorette. Customer service was horrible and rooms were dirty. I got bit by something which I believe was a spider and my whole leg swelled up with blisters. When I went to the front desk to inform them the next day they did nothing! They showed no remorse and said they would send someone to my room. I checked out and they refused to provide any refund or discount. They said it’s an older hotel and they can’t keep spiders out! Whole weekend in NY was ruined! Lobby was beautiful but hotel itself is dungie! Watch out for spiders!
