The staff at the checkin desk were very rude and professional. After requesting to speak to the supervisor on the checkin day, we were contacted by no one during our six day stay. The service is very disappointing.

This hotel is a bit like time traveling. You get a sense of a glamorous past that's nearly all but gone. At present, it has a cozy, camp-like, family feel. It reminded me of the resort from Dirty Dancing, transplanted to the desert. Most of the guests were families, and there were children everywhere, mostly on scooters, skateboards, and bikes. (Tip: Stay vigilant as I saw one poor woman knocked off her feet. There aren't any signs anywhere and no attempt from the resort to maintain safety.) ? Another reason it feels like you've traveled in time is because this is probably the whitest and least diverse place I've ever visited, and I include Scandinavia on that list. It was hard to believe at times that I was in SoCal, but then the almost entirely Hispanic staff would bring a dose of reality about the intersection of race and class. As I observed men in polo shirts tucked into belted shorts and impossibly blonde women call for their children--who were invariably named after a Biblical character if male or named after a 19th-century British or American writer if female--I found myself thinking of Margaret Mead.

    Beautiful location but understaffed

hotel needs to double staff. very slow service, no towels at pools, hours to receive response to texts, etc. bartenders are overwhelmed. also rooms are hot and beds are old and lumpy. not the level of service we’d expect from a waldorf hotel.

Protected by a mountain range the hotel is surrounding by spiting palm trees. The night lights the trees to create a fantasy of dan I got palms swaying in the wind. There is nothing else like this resort in the desert. A rare gem !!

Had a couple of day stay here for my child's spring break. I think my experience here matches what a lot of other people are saying - its a beautiful location but they are way not ready to be open. A couple of notes: - Rooms (I stayed in a pool casita) are very dated. They were clean and fine but not particularly luxurious or comfortable. The fridge in particular was so loud it kept me up all night. - Be prepared not to see any staff. Outside of the restaurants they seem to just have given up having people around. During covid I can understand the social distancing but it should not take several tries of ringing and ringing to get an operator on the phone. Basically expect to be fully on your own at the pools - no water, old towels are removed only twice a day, etc. - The wifi is 2 MBS (I measured). I mean really?? This is 2021. So in a nutshell, if you'd like a beautiful location where you have access to a room and a pool - this is a great option. If you're hoping for some semblance of luxury or if you think the Waldorf name has a meaning, look elsewhere.
