Watch Out For Those Overcharges On Your Room!

Fairmont Scottsdale Princess is located within 20 mins from phoenix sky harbor international airport. I booked a short 3 night weekend getaway at this resort through Delta Airlines Vacations Online. On the website it does state that the resort charges a daily self parking fee of 15.00 and resort fee. This was the only information stated on delta airlines vacations website about the resort. So on the day i checked in at the Fairmont Scottsdale Princess resort, the front desk only told me they needed to see a card for "incidentals". They did make me aware of the daily parking fee but that was the only thing they told me. So i went ahead and gave them my credit/debit card to put on file for incidentals. The big surprise came when I went to check my bank account online while i was on the trip. The resort charged me over 900.dollars at check in!!!!!!!!! So i called the front desk and spoke with one of the staff members as to why I was charged over 900.00 dollars. He said that they charged me 900 dollars for the room i had reserved. I explained to him that my hotel room had been pre-paid through delta airlines vacations. After further checking their system he admitted that they had made a mistake and said that delta airlines vacations had not sent them the payment for the room until late that night of check in. What concerned me about it is the front desk staff at check in didn't even bother to confirm my reservation to see if delta had paid for the room and just assumed that i was paying for it on my credit card so in turn i got double charged for a room that I had already paid for. Very poor customer service !!! The front desk clerk did tell me that he was working on reversing the charges. When i spoke with a member of the management team at the resort she didn't really seem to care that they overcharged me 900.00 dollars and made excuses for the mistake. Her story was different from what the front desk clerk told me about the mix up and said it would take up to 5 days after i check out to get my money back that they took out. She only offered me a 50.00 dollar food and beverage credit for my trouble ,what a joke!! They could have done better than that. So i ended up having to cancel some of the excursions i had planned to do in sedona az because of the loss of money over the "so called mix up at the hotel" The resort its self is decent , has several pools and areas to relax. The self parking is not very conveniently located to the resort and is sort of a small walk. The resort does have a restaurant but it is very pricey. If your looking for a short getaway i would recommend looking elsewhere at a cheaper hotel with free parking lot. My best advice if you are considering staying at this resort is to make sure the reservation department has all your payment information taken care of before checking in or you will get surprise charges on your credit card that you were not made aware of and no apology for the mix up. I will definitely not come back to this resort if i decide to visit the Scottsdale az area again.

Very nice rooms! Parking was not the easiest at least to self park. Overall a pleasurable experinece, especially in these Covid times. Staff was friendly and attentive. Didn't golf this trip but will plan on doing that next time around.

The room was very nice, what we expected based on the several Fairmont hotels at which we've stayed. The view from room was very nice as was the main pool area. Dining was a different story two Mexican themed and one Steakhouse for dine in or take out. The one more American cuisine restaurant was closed even though web site showed open as of our stay. Supposedly it was operating for delivery but no answer when called the number instructed. Kinda silly too that take out wasn't available since it was 100 yards or less from our room. Parking was inconvenient. Self park was 10 mins from our room in front of large meeting complex and no provisions for unloading/loading luggage first then parking. A "resort", by definition should be self sufficient. We'd been hiking in several areas and states for a week and were looking to rest for a couple days and do nothing. Instead, we were coming and going throughout the day. Having stayed in the area many times, a regular hotel would be better situation taking advantage of the many dining options in Scottsdale.

My husband and I have not had a vacation in 10 months because of the plandemic. We didn’t want to fly or drive to California so we decided to do a staycation this year. We got a great deal at the Princess and it was a very nice stay. The employees were very nice and kind. It wasn’t too crowded anywhere but it seemed like the employees did not know when things opened and closed because of the new rules. We were told the fitness center was open 24 hours but it was 6-6 instead. The restaurants all looked closed. No hours posted. No hours posted for the pools. It would’ve been nice to have a piece of paper with the current operation hours. We saw many people smoking and didn’t see any signs for no smoking so not sure of that policy. The food that we did get at the bar was ok. Nothing to rave about. Our room was very nice and very comfortable and quiet. If it were not for the nice employees we wouldn’t go back.

The property is outstanding. I came here thinking this is the best hotel I have every stayed at after visiting 24 countries. Im an avid spa-goer so I can say their spa is very nice, although I saw a group of girls without wristbands hanging out in the women’s spa. I didn’t like that. Front Desk agent Karlos is their best asset. After meeting two groups of people here that both made me cry in the end, I called front desk to complain about my security escort. I had been crying at the bar because 1. cannot get a rental car in Phoenix/Scottsdale due to Covid. Must arrive bt 9a and noon on weekends. websites do not reflect this change in hours of operations. Also washers stop at a certain hour so there’s cars but they aren’t sterilized. so i re-checked in and was stuck at Fairmont. 2. I realized that I had just been picked up by swingers that I spent the past 2-3 hours chatting with. Karlos went above and beyond to exhibit care and attention to my situation. He checked in that evening to assure me that the security issue was addressed. He also checked in on me the day after to make sure I was rested and offered any assistance. A beautiful place is nothing if it is filled with ugly people (inside or out). Karlos is the lifesaver of this entire establishment. Beware if you are traveling alone.
