My 2nd visit to GFA and again was not disappointed. We were on the 10th floor, wonderful views and beautiful room. The room was very clean and beds extremely comfortable. Even with the necessary precautions of COVID, everything was - again - excellent, from Claudia at the cabana desk to all of the restaurant staff, pool staff, wish I had gotten their names. I can't recommend GFA enough. At the restaurants there were enough choices to find something different to eat each evening, and the D'Brick Buffet if you didn't want to go to the restaurants. Had a wonderful, restful vacation.

I am on day 4 of a 5night trip. Almost all is exceptional. Room very nice junior suite. Have to ask for a hair dryer as it wasn’t in room. I wasn’t able to get my b52 shots at bars as only available in grand bar which I do not have. Minor. Bring salt and pepper packets if needed. Lots of mosquitos for some reason. Drinks are a little light on alcohol. I have enjoyed restaurants although it is heavy on seafood so not as many options for me. I would definitely recommend. Great place.

First off and hands down, the staff is incredible! They truly are exceptional, and gave the BEST service! The pool and the beach were great, I did not feel that it was over crowded at all, they took great precautions to make sure everything was clean and sanitized, and we had an amazing view of the ocean and pool Area. The rooms were clean and fresher daily. Things I would change: DO NOT stay on the 4th floor, ( that’s where we were) it’s the main level, Lobby, restaurant , elevators to other parts of the hotel, there is no insulation and you can hear everything through the door and walls to the hall, we were woken up multiple times a night from those who were enjoying their at 2 and 3 am. I would stay higher up or lower. Second thing is the food, it was very inconsistent, one day room service is so good, we order the same thing the next day, different portions different ingredients ect. Same thing with a few things on the menu. The Italian and Asian were hands down the best food! Would I come back, yes.

My friend and I booked our trip through our travel agent. We were both celebrating our 40th birthday. We were coming from the middle of Kansas and all we wanted was a beach and sunshine! Which we found both at the Grand Fiesta Americana. The staff is absolutely amazing and made our trip memorable from arrival to departure. Pro tip: Get to know the staff. When you remember that staff, they will remember you. We were well taken care of. Everyone was so kind. We never felt ignored or found an inattentive staff members. These people are hard working! Our first day at the resort we met Dominique the pool concierge and reserved a cabana for every day of our stay. Each morning he would escort us to the cabana and set our towels for us. Ricardo and Rafael were our “cabana boys” (aka pool servers). When we didn’t know what drink to order we’d say “surprise us” or the “Ricardo/Rafael special.” (Again, take care of your servers and they will take care of you!) Our first night at the resort we met Esperanza and Jorge at the Sky bar. This is a class act team of bartenders. After dinner we would go to the sky bar to see our new friends. Seriously, some of the best service! At breakfast we made it a point to sit in the same area of the restaurant each day. It was almost like Jamie, Alfredo, and Macardo were expecting us. They were so welcoming each morning and was pouring coffee even before we sat down. It was impressive how each staff member we encountered seemed to learn and remember our preferences. While the sunshine, beach, and staff were the highlights of our stay...here’s a few improvements we’d like to see.... The food...the best meal we had was one we paid extra for (steak dinner on the beach). So good! Other than that..the food was a 4/10. Room service took 2 hours to get to us and was ice cold. The Mexican restaurant had the best margarita..not too sweet. Other than that, everything was just ok. Our room: while the room had a beautiful view of the pool and beach...it had a musty smell..that followed me home. Our room had two double beds and just a couple doors down from the mojito bar (which is the perfect place to watch the sunset). This was our first time to Puerto Vallarta and we did enjoy it very much. We may even return to The Grand Fiesta Americana again one day....to say hello to our new friends.

We booked a Master Suite for 7 nights. This includes a free shuttle (which we did not get), a $100 resort credit (which upon check-in was told that we did not get it), Spa Hydro Therapy session (due to Covid, they don't offer it), access to the Grand Club and a reserved Cabana Bed by the pool (which we ended up getting after finding Dominic by the pool on the second day). First day check in: This was the absolute worst experience we have ever had at any hotel or resort. We were escorted to the Grand Club for check-in by one employee, greeted by another employee who told us to have a seat and they would get our check-in documents. Another employee offered us drinks. Another employee brought our check-in paperwork, keys (room 711) and took our luggage tag. Then sat Carlos, the timeshare salesman. After we politely declined to schedule an appointment to listen to the member sales pitch, our room keys disappeared and we were told our room wasn't ready. This was when we also found out that we were not getting the amenities that are included in booking a Master Suite. I specifically I asked about my resort credit of $100. We were told that we did not get it. I showed an employee on my phone where it states I should get this for booking this room category. His solution was to have me email the resort while I am there trying to check-in at the Club Lounge - what? So there I was emailing the resort that I'm at while still trying to check-in to ask about my resort credit, SMH. Finally we left the lounge to find lunch while they "got our room ready". We were told to come back at 3pm. I'll skim over the lunch experience, but I'll say it took over an hour to get nachos and grilled shrimp because they gave our food to the wrong table. After it taking so long to get food it's now 3:30pm. So we go to try and get our room. We went to the Lobby reception to finish checking in. Room was still not ready! We were offered a room on level 3 or wait for our room on level 7. I'm beyond frustrated at this point. I declined the lower floor and we went to the Club lounge to wait. I requested a manager at this point because I was tired of the run around. The front desk manager, Nely came to talk to us and she was the same person we dealt with at the Lobby desk. We addressed all of our concerns and what a terrible experience we were having and our room was finally ready. She escorted us to our room and it's a very nice room. I'm glad we waited for our level 7 room as you can still hear the pool noise from this floor and floor 3 your view is of palm trees. Pool bar service (Ricardo, Alfredo, and Rafael are awesome!) Dinner food was horrible. Went to bed hungry every night. Breakfast and lunches were average and acceptable. Carlos kept approaching us throughout our stay to try and sell his membership. His selling line was "We would not have had such a horrible check-in if we were members." Yea, no thanks! Why would I want to buy into something that they couldn't get right on day one. I finally did get my $100 resort credit posted to my room so on the last night I decided to try the Lobster which is an upcharge. It was so overcooked that the lobster meat would not come out of the shell. They offered nothing when I told them it was bad except the bill. Also, did not know they charged gratuity to my room until reviewing my bill during the travel home. Why was I charged $86 in gratuity at check-out? We loved Puerto Vallarta and will visit again, but it will not be to this resort.
