Not worth the money!!!
szentara (Marlborough, Massachusetts) on Mar 23, 2024
Do not waste your money on this resort. If you really want to go to the Dominican Republic, choose a cheaper resort. I wish I read a review like this before I booked. Please don’t come here. This is an honest review from someone who is not very picky. Pros: The grounds and rooms are very well-maintained (with the exception of the public bathrooms). The staff are very friendly. There were a few entertaining shows at night. Cons: -This resort is loud and not for children with sensory issues or parents who want to relax with peace and quiet. Music was blaring from speakers all over the resort. The worst noise was at the waterpark. I had a headache after a few minutes. All the bars, blare very loud music. You can’t get peace and quiet anywhere except at the beach. -The ocean is not swim-able for children. I have swam in the ocean from Florida to Maine. I have never experienced an ocean like this. The waves crash very strongly at knee height and will knock anyone over. I got knocked over several times and actually ate sand one day. DO NOT let your water go into the ocean unattended. There are supposed to be lifeguards, but they were never paying attention when I was in the water. Ironically, there are lots of lifeguards by the pools. -The pool is freezing cold, despite it being really hot out. I don’t understand why they pump the pool full of cold water. Also, the pool is 4 feet deep, which is too deep for infants, and two shallow for an adult. I actually had sore knees and back from hunching over in the water all the time. For children’s resort, I would expect a zero entry pool. -The food is not good! Very bad children’s menus. For a child family resort, I would expect a standard menu of chicken nuggets / tenders, hotdogs, and pasta at every restaurant. The food was not geared towards children and my daughter barely ate anything. FYI, and Dominican Republic hotdogs are called sausage. -Anything remotely related to Nickelodeon such as slimming or character breakfast is an additional cost!!!! -Some of the rooms are very rundown .The AC and TV broke the first night. The shower is glass and there was not a proper seal so after showering water flooded the entire bathroom. When you call the front desk talk to maintenance they do not speak English. It took several tries to get our room fixed. I would’ve expected better at a five star resort. -Personal concierge is a joke. Despite what they tell you, you will not get one-to-one service. You need to go to a concierge’s building and ask for what you need. -Don’t get suckered into spending two hours of your life for a Karissa’s VIP tour. We were promised free sliming and character breakfast, but we had to stay the entire entire duration, which was about two hours. -Some of the rooms are really rundown and not maintained well. My room was horrible.
Warning - do not book

I am currently here and wish that I could leave and get my money back. I’m considering just leaving anyways because I am so hungry. I will give a detailed review at a later date but want to caution ANYONE considering booking at this place. Do not come. It is unclean and the food is terrible when it is even available.
Very Good for families with small children.

I have to say I was really skeptical about going to this resort because of the reviews. Food was plentiful, by no means gourmet. Room service menu needs some much needed attention. This resort is geared towards families with little children. So the room service menu needs to have things like onion rings, mozzarella sticks, pizza, wings, nachos and Mac and cheese - not chicken breast with Greek salad or Philly cheese steak. Other than the room service and small garbage cans in the room. My experience was great. Staff were always friendly. Yes there currently construction going on at the resort. This does not interfere with the daily activities whatsoever. As for the characters - follow the schedule on the Karisma app. They show up as indicated. While I didn’t see SpongeBob (I was out on an excursion) I did see plenty other characters. The slime session was fantastic. I had excellent water pressure and hot water. They are currently making the resort bigger, and a staff member did tell me that resort used to be an adults only resort. And the do take the reviews seriously. I saw a couple of managers walking around with lists and correcting things. Shout out to Vladimir my personal concierge.
Horrible

The resort is not by any means a 5 star, I would maybe give it a 2.5 or 3 start. Pros: - the water park area was great for kids under 7. - the beach and pool area was not overly crowded. - the rooms were spacious and clean - the pool attached to the room was amazing. Cons: - the service was horrible !! They hardly ever got your order right. - the fridge was not refilled daily, with water or drinks. - they never had our reservations to anything we booked. Every time we double checked, they said they didn’t exist! We almost didn’t get to go to space walker or the character breakfast. - the character breakfast is a total waste of money and I would not ever recommended it to any one! They rushed the kids through getting photos and the buffet was horrible. - the restaurants were ok when they actually got your order right. We waited over an hour to get into the Italian one and then almost two hours to get food. The kids were falling asleep at the table. Multiple families, including us ended up walking out. We got to rush at the buffet just before it closed at 10. Over all, very disappointed and I will never come back and I do NOT recommend!
Amazing resort for little kids

Amazing resort for little kids. There is food that picky eaters will eat at almost all of the restaurants. Wok Wok restaurant was an adult favourite. Spacewalker restaurant was a kid favourite. Lots of fun things to do, including the water park, arcade, character meet and greets, and bouncy castles. Bring water shoes with good grip for the kids. The beautiful stamped concrete paths and pool surrounds made for a constant parade of kids slipping and falling down when it got wet. The ocean was rough during our stay, but beautiful. Edwin in the Snick Lounge made amazing cocktails. We would consider coming.
