We spent New Years at Blue Bay and it was wonderful! The property is beautiful, easy to navigate around, great ocean views! The sanitary procedures are at the highest standards to keep the very one safe and healthy. Different food options available, including room service for a small service fee. The pools are clean and spacious so you don’t feel crowded. Daily activities and water sports activities are on site, small stores to get any needs or souvenirs. Highly recommend!

Very unhappy with the facility and experience. Would absolutely not go back or recommend!

The room was garbage. Clean, but old, poor quality, the humidity caused the floors to be wet and very slippery (dangerous). The partial ocean view was dead trees. The balcony looked like it was broken into and destroyed. The check in took 1 hour and 40 minutes. The gym was disorganized and very unclean. The food for all meals was poor quality. Ran out of options. Dry and overcooked. Incredibly disappointed with this stay.

    Many things were fixed

I think a lot of things mentioned here were fixed. The food was awesome, the rooms were cleaned daily, the minibar was refilled every day, staff wearing masks all the time and being super friendly and working very hard. They are taking very good anti-covid measures. We came back back 9 days ago and so far no symptoms, but we kept the distance, wore masks and didn't hang out with anyone. We liked the food. There were a lot of options even for us vegetarians. Everything looked fresh to us. Visitors don't have access to the food directly, it is being served and that's great! In the evening there is only the a la carte option. We loved it. You have 3-4 restaurants to choose from every night. We loved the Caribbean, the Mexican and the sea food one the most. The waiters are super friendly and go above and beyond to accommodate you. Really nice people and make you want to come back. The room was ok. The TV is a bit old, but whatever. We didn't use the central AC (so I don't know if it worked), because of Covid, the ceiling fan was sufficient on most of the days. The beds were very clean, I particularly investigated them lol. Multiple layers of sheets and mattress covers, everything was immaculate. The bathroom was a bit old though. Everything worked, but it could be refreshed. The shower door had water residue that has been there for at least one or two months. I know they probably don't have enough time to scrub it, because it will take a good hour to clean just one door. The administration needs to put additional time aside for that I guess. The area has been hit by a storm recently and the staff have been actively renovated and scrubbing everything. They have been doing some construction work on new building as well. The beach is fine, but the water has some good days and some not so great days. A lot of sea weeds and some other stuff that I don't know were it's coming from. We walked a bit and saw an area were the beach was covered by something brown that was stinking like poop, so I'm not sure if something is dumped there and whether it affects the water in the area. Just doesn't look good. If authorities want people to visit, they need to fix it, because that is the result of human activity. Also, I don't know whose idea it was to install those giant concrete water breakers. They look ugly. But all of this was not a big deal. We enjoyed our stay there. When the water was not so great, we would spend the day at the pool. The least favourite part was when we just arrived and they tried to convince us to buy their timeshare. They insisted on doing this while we eat breakfast. It took 2h, when 30min would be really enough. It is something we would consider, but not for this hotel (because of the beach), and we wanted time to think and read about this. He wanted us to decide on the spot and get into an annuity for over 10k. So we declined. I highly recommend the administration to stop doing this. It's extremely annoying and insulting to think people are that dumb to fall for this. If you go through that presentation, you will get $100 gift card. We spent ours in their store. Overall we were very satisfied with our trip. It's a decent 3.5 star hotel. You'll probably get better quality somewhere else if you are willing to spend more. But this was the cheapest option at the time.

Hello Travellers , Me and my wife look for value first and foremost and safety. If you truly look at what you pay, ( 675 per all incl.) how you would not think this is a great value. Our service on all levels was simply fantastic. Covid protocols were stringent, (in a good way) and made us feel safe in that respect. Food was good at buffet , just good , but remembering the cost. A La Carte was easy to reserve and Very good. Rooms were very nice , clean and modern. It s just a room people , don t dwell , sleep and shower. 4 shows for entertainment were there , all just ok . Could always get a drink from 3 different bars , (fav was tiki beach bar). Pool is enormous and clean , lot s of activities.Beach was always clean and orderly. Our 2 excursions with BD Experience , were soooo worth the trip , %0 per for a Cenotes trip , and 95 per for a catamaran, easily the highlight of our trip. Me and my wife love to go off site. We made it down to 5th Ave , an adventure in itself , lol , (be ready for sales pitch from all) , if you just say no thanks and keep walking Try having drinks on the beach patio at Senor Frogs , great staff , comical and good service. My ONLY complaint is nowhere to get a snack from a late night , sandwhich etc. If your on a buget or just looking to relax, THIS IS THE PLACE

I want to preface this review by saying that - A - we attended a wedding B - we did not choose the location We stayed 4 nights and 5 days, a group of 12. Let's start with Check-In: It was a breeze, checked in, payed $7 Environmental Preservation Fee and a 7-8 passenger golf cart sped us (not even joking, literally put the pedal to the metal) down to building 5. Building 5: It's centrally located to the Swing Bar, Large Pool, Beach and the Jaah-Al restaurant/buffet. The rooms have an immediate and strong mildew smell upon entering (when we returned home, we had to wash our clothes 3 times to get rid of the smell that penetrated the clothing, shoes and luggage. We came in a large group for the wedding and stayed in rooms near one another and we all experienced the same things - - Leaking A/C units, two of our rooms woke up inundated in puddles of water, I fell twice even when being extra cautious because the tile is NOT slip resistant. - Sewer smell from the shower drains - One room had water as hot as lava, the other had water that wouldn't get anywhere near hot - One part of our group had to move rooms the next day because they had no A/C and it was mid-80's with 79% humidity. - One room awoke to a flooded shower, no answer at the lobby, they finally got someone to "repair it" only to be told they didn't shower correctly (this happened at 4am, so neither occupant had showered, but merely discovered it because they had to use the restroom in the middle of the night) mopped up the water and left. Shower was NOT fixed. - Every room had a different type and size of TV, tried to watch while getting ready, like I would at home, the picture was grainy and the sound muffled, I mean, at that point why even have TV sets in the rooms? - Room came with soap, shampoo, body gel and lotion, as well as a shower cap - We also had roaches in our room COVID-19 Precautions: - All staff work masks or a combination of mask/face shield - Masks were enforced upon entering restaurants and when getting served at the buffet line - 25% of guests were wearing masks - In no other common area were masks enforced Food: (I've eaten at better hospital cafeteria's) - Were not told ahead by the couple that we had to make reservations to certain restaurants. Even at minimal capacity, we were not admitted to any restaurant without a reservation. They made ONE exception and then we got horrific service, we waited so long in between meals, we left without so much as tasting or seeing dessert. - Food was generic, cold and bland - Room service limited you to 6 dishes per room and charged a $6 fee, the first time we ordered it, the food was old, cold and the guacamole was brown and the chips soggy or stale - The Mexican restaurant which the wedding couple made reservations for all 26 of us, was cold and bland, the only thing I enjoyed was the strawberry margarita. - Lunch buffet was lackluster, even the wait staff said we'd enjoy breakfast the next day. - Breakfast brunch there was 3 good things at the breakfast buffet (which, due to Covid restrictions is NOT serve yourself, which is great, very much appreciated) chilaquiles, omelets and the green salsa. Our server was funny and got to know us well, he worked behind the serve line, I wish I would have got his name. - If you were thinking about snacks or a snack bar, better think again! The lobby shops are ridiculously over priced, my son paid $6 USD for a small back of Hot Cheetos - On our last day there, they closed the smaller buffet nearest to our room and opened up the buffet near the lobby The alcohol: - Swing bar was ALWAYS jammed pack, no social distancing, drinks were ok but clearly watered down. - Only 2 kinds of beer in the entire resort...XX Dos Equis at all bars and restaurants and Superior cans in your mini-fridge - Mini fridges had mineral water, diet and regular coke, orange fanta and lemon lime soda. - 3 large bottled waters were also stocked in the room - No coffee maker in the rooms - Fix a hangover, ask your server or bartender for "Suero" Resort Amenities: - Pool was old and dated - Beach was brown and murky with broken seashells for sand - Pool had daily "activities" which used an old speaker with blaring dated music - There are "Mexican" lemurs in mass amounts! They're harmless, but they do poop like dogs, so good luck with your patio facing outside. - There are HUGE lizards - There are HUGE fire ants - There are bugs in the sand - Mosquitos everywhere - The pool had areas closed off with yellow warning tape Entertainment: - Black & White Bar featuring the bartender who made our stay so enjoyable. The entertainment is dated but they really try to entertain everyone, God bless them for trying! Wiliberto exceeded our expectations as a server, bartender and host. - We DID enjoy the "Silent Disco" Now, if you've made it THIS far, thank you and second, let's get to the event that brought all 26 of us to this resort - The Wedding: - If I could have JUST attended the wedding here and stayed elsewhere, I'd attend time and time again. - Everything about the wedding itself was great. - The ceremony, the location of the reception and the decor - My ONLY complaint is that we should have had golf cart shuttle service from the beach ceremony to the reception near the entrance of the resort, which is a LONG walk!! All in all we had some standout service by some great gentleman. The server on the buffet line, the server at breakfast who brought us all "sueros", a BIG shoutout to the server who rushed out and found us 4 pieces of tres leches cake to celebrate my son's b-day, he really went above and beyond. Also, shout out to our porter who stayed with us until our airport transfer shuttle arrived. I know many local families and couples frequent and visit often because it's inexpensive and very affordable, the old adage is true, you DO get what you pay for. The resort is in need of a HUGE overhaul, it could really be great if they tried. Stop painting over mildew, stop patching up old grout and fix one area at a time. No sense in having multiple areas out of commission.
