    Michigan Family Vacation

We are family of 5 (53, 53, 26, 24, 9) plus boyfriend. Found resort through Delta vacations and would recommend Delta over Apple, Bookit... Our family enjoys all inclusives, and discovered the benefits of the mega resorts last year at Barcelo Punta Cana. We found the Iberostar offered more options than the Barcelo; better drinks, food available on beach, and the fabulous fit-fun gym. We are blessed with Lifetime in Michigan and found the same classes and intensity at Iberostar's Fit and Fun. Instructors Diego, Uriel, and Ema were awesome. The starcamp program appears well organized but our nine year old did not use. He spent the days with the entertainment team. Many thanks to Jennifer, Eric, Humberto and the entire team for the fun in the sun. Service is outstanding throughout the resort. Appreciated the real fruit smoothies blended by Juan and Hugo at the wave pool bar. Food is similar to other inclusives, we found Italian the best, steak and brazilian are recommended. Beach and grounds are perfect, especially the food selection available beachfront; burgers fries, salads, fruit, nachos. Nightly entertainment is vast; shows, family games, laser tag, car racing, never a dull moment. Our only opportunity for improvement is the rooms, the HVAC systems in both our rooms did not work well and were noisy.6170 and 6176. Maintenance attempted to correct during our stay, an update of the equipment and room decor would enhance the resort.

My 30th birthday trip with my family

Overall this place was good. We first got a broke down room with the lights broken and no outlet plugins to charge phones etc but they quickly gave us a new room that was better. We went from the 4th through the 8th. My birthday was the 6th. We couldn't get a reservation for the al cart steak house but Angel did a phenomenal ob and still let us eat since we came right at 6. They gave me birthday shot, cake with candle and sang happy birthday to me with a bow made with a napkin in my hair. It was great. Then the nightly cleaning people decorated my bed and gave me a bottle of champagne. They went above and beyond. Also, since we traveled with our kids 2 & 10, there was plenty of kid activities to do. Kids pools, wave pools, foam party, beach activities, nightly entertainment with carousel, bounce houses, etc. My kids had a great time. The steak house was definitely the best food. Other food and buffets were just average. In the plaza mall they did have a good crepe and ice cream shop. Fitness center was great. I will say the mosquitoes are awful. Definitely bring bug spray. Even with the bug spray I still got bit. I have stayed other resorts in Mexico and didn't get eatin alive like I did there with the bugs. Overall it was a good time!

This our second time visiting Iberostar paraiso maya. First time we went there was 2013. First good things staff is amazing, grounds are very looked after. Beach is beautiful and they really take care of it. Pools we did not use as we came here for Caribbean sea. There was construction going on so that was a loud. Star club amazing together with staff. Now the bad ... rooms have not been updated since 2013 or probably since they built the resort and falling appart, they try to keep it clean and nice but things falling apart. In the first room we had ant problem and somekind of weird noise from 4 in the morning. We moved ants did not come back but noise continued and we just got used to it. Some kind of pipe banging or ac falling apart. Anyway so the bigest disappointment was food. We are in Mexico 10th time so I know good food and good choices. We tried all buffets and few restaurants that we were able to book for dinner. If you are lover of junk then its place for you. With fries burgers and other fried stuff on the beach and everywhere else. I did not see good selection of salads. That was really disappointing. The lunch was same almost every day, as well as breakfast. Dinners had more variety but still not many choices. I am gluten and diary free not by choice but allergies. I felt that they tried to do their best with marking products but in maya buffet as well as other , tags were missing especially by the deserts and i got sick one night by eating something had gluten. Another disappointment was baby kitchen that should be definitely included in the price and not charged 50 dol extra for nothing. It is basically facility that you can steam bottles that is only good thing. They had Gerber food but it was unknown vegetable and I was too afraid to give it to my 5 month old baby. She ate avocado that I had to request multiple times. If I knew the situation I would not pay extra for sure. Staff makes this hotel good, otherwise prepare for a lot of walking as hotel is huge. I like that but my husband was not a fan of it. Another thing that was enoying as soon as we came in for check in we were punshed to join iberostar club their version of timeshare. Massage prices outrageously high therefore we did not even tried it.

Everything you need, but something missing

Room was comfortable, kids pool was nice but shut down for maintenance for part of our stay. Main pool very large and wave pool was fun with the kids. Food was plentiful and good enough for a buffet. It was great on one of the days, and the staff said it was for survey night and asked us to review. Japanese restaurant was very good, show was fun, food was good. Common mall area was nice, crepes were great, but way too many bugs to have fun. Resort overall has everything you would like in a nice resort, it just needs to be spruced up. The walkways are dark and the path to the beach is over a swam and surrounded by trees.

Nice, but not really a five star experience

The overall experience was OK but there were many details that you wouldn't expect from a five star hotel. The room was only prepared for two persons though the reservation was for four. We had made request for a room facing the pool, but ended up looking into the forest. We asked for single beds but got queen size beds. Two teenagers... Crappy refill of amenities, we all got sick from the food, cockroaches and ants in the bathroom, the place needs renovation. We were invited to a sell-meeting for "the club" that was supposed to take 90 minutes but took 4 hours. We booked "star prestige". After ten days (!) we realzed that it also included a special wine menu that we had to ask for - the waitors did not tell us it was included. They offer a "free" round of golf but the rent for clubs was so expensive that it was not possible to use. Everything was extremely expensive. No snacks included in the all inclusive and potato chips in the inhouse store was priced at 260 pesos. Dinner reservations were changed without informing, we ended up having to wait for the restaurant we had booked. Several times they asked if we wanted aperitifs but never served it, several times food didn't come at the same time. At buffets, "hot dishes" were cold. The regular mañana applied to car rentals. We had to wait for our car almost 1,5 hours. If it hadn't been for the fantastic concierge Maria in the Star Prestige Lounge, we would probably still be waiting for it. She really went above and beyond.
