Let me start from the top... when you land you will have to take a shuttle ride to the resort from the airport which is an hour and fifteen minute ride. (there are also people at the airport that will basically grab your luggage from your hands to take to the sandals airport lodge while you wait for your shuttle- these guys will request a tip so either have cash out or flat out don't let them take your luggage for you). The roads to the resort are winding and bumpy and many people get quite nauseated so do take that into consideration. I had never been out of the country before this trip so I was pretty culture shocked right about this time as well. Spoiler alert, it'll be ok ;) If you're lucky, your driver will tell you some cool facts about the island along the way and answer any questions you may have. When you get to the resort you will be greeted with a very warm welcome as you identify your luggage which is then placed in your room for you. (btw, we stayed at La Toc) We were then taken to the lobby for a quick orientation and check in. The orientation is optional and just entails a short walk around the main areas of the resort but I do recommend you do it as we got some good staple information that was beneficial for us the rest of the stay. Then you're ready to start your adventure! We got to our room which was clean, tidy and the view! I believe our room description was something along the lines of 'piton/sundeck' and I would very highly recommend it! We did not have the soaking tubs on the deck but I will say they aren't quite as private as they look online so do take that into consideration if its something that intrigues you. Our bed was very comfortable, air conditioning worked well and the shower water was so hot! Definitely no cold showers there! My best room advice would be to spend less money on the room and more money on excursions because you probably wont spend a ton of time in your room. We took ourselves on a little walk around the resort to feel everything out and quickly realized that there are several people around that will try to entice you into doing their excursions, massages, etc. No one was incredibly pushy but we did encounter this quite a bit. Let's go ahead and talk about excursions while we're sort of on the topic. DO THE JOE KNOWS TOUR! And do it early in your trip because you will likely make some good friends here! You'll hear all about joe knows while you're here and it is for good reason. This is a boat tour that takes you all around to see various parts of the island including the infamous marigot bay where all the celebrities live, the places where pirates of the caribbean and dr doolittle were filmed, a volcano where you will do the 'mud bath' and soak in the hottest of hot springs, rinse off under a gorgeous waterfall (the photographer comes on the excursion with you and gets lots of fun pictures for you here), you will then go to have some delicious authentic home cooked food, head off to go snorkeling, and have some delicious rum punch with lots of dancing and music. The tour crew is the ship captain, a photographer from sandals and the tour guide and let me tell you, as I write this from my couch at home, we are legitimately missing them. We were split between two boats but our tour guides were SHOWTIME and CHOCOLATE THUNDER. I will just let you meet these guys on your own so you can form your own opinions but you will fall in love with their infectious personalities. I would do this tour multiple times if I was going to be there longer, thats how much we loved it! I know you're probably wondering how much it is so ill save you some research, it was $130 per person and like I said, I would have paid for it a hundred times over. We had an incredible experience, made some amazing friends whom we shared some great times with the remainder of the trip and we felt so good about who we gave our money to. Heres the thing- there are MANY other people who will hunt you down on the beach and try to convince you to do their tour (not affiliated with sandals) and believe me we considered several of them because they sounded enticing but ultimately- so glad we went with Joe Knows. I don't know who Joe is but he definitely KNOWS! We were more than happy to support the locals in other ways though because they are incredibly hardworking people. Let's talk about food. I hope you like seafood but if not, you will survive. A lot of the food is primarily seafood but each restaurant has one or two non-seafood options. There are several restaurants at la toc (I think 7 to be exact?). All had wonderful, flavorful, beautifully presented food. There is a pub upstairs that was our kryptonite. It stays open LATE (I think until 2am-ish) and has burgers/fries/wings/ all the good things you would want after a long (fun) day/night, or a late night snack when you've had a few drinks. While were on the topic- you NEED to know about 2 things for after dinner... the piano bar and the pub. This is where the fun happens! Bring your new friends and watch/participate in karaoke, dancing, cocktails, etc. Our personal favorite was to hit the piano bar until they shut down then go up to the pub to finish off the night with a great DJ. The piano bar- WOW. There is an incredible piano player/singer and a bartender who will occasionally grab the mic and sing while he makes drinks and it is pure gold entertainment. SO MUCH FUN. There was the sweetest waitress at the pub who even danced with us for a few. I can not say enough about the staff everywhere! So kind and truly there to SERVE you in every way. We wanted extra waters in our room fridge so we inquired about it at the desk and within the hour someone was at our door delivering bottled water. Excellent service from everyone involved. Lets talk about photography. Pictures are expensive, theres no way around that. We went in thinking we wouldn't purchase any pictures that were taken by the photographers but in the end we did purchase a small package and were glad that we did. They got some wonderful pictures, especially at times that we didnt have our phone available (kept them locked in the room safe most of the trip) such as while we were snorkeling, at the mud bath area, etc. Just to give you an idea of how much because I know you are wondering- we got a package of ten pictures on a disk, five of them printed and a nice wooden frame for $180. The pictures are great and will last a lifetime (I'm all about photos so it was worth it to me in the grand scheme of things). You wont spend money on much while you're there as it was all inclusive but things like souvenirs from the gift shop or excursions you can charge to your room and reconcile the charges at the end of the trip. This is convenient because we hardly every carried anything on us, much less forms of payment. There are several pool areas but the main pool has a great swim up bar with awesome bartenders so you never have to leave the pool! Just grab a raft and float with your drinks. May I suggest the 'bob marley'- delicious. I highly recommend checking out the activities that are going on each day/night because there are things like bands, talent shows, game nights, foam parties, etc. Tons of fun and fantastic entertainment. There was a party on the beach with a band, fire dancers, dinner, and lots of fun. Speaking of the beach- you can check out paddle boards, kayaks, catamarans, etc. at no charge which was tons of fun. Spoiler alert, paddle boarding is much harder than expected lol. One big perk of this resort is that you can also visit the other two locations which are the GRANDE and the HALCYON. The shuttle runs every other hour to transport between the locations. The grande was roughly about a half hour shuttle ride. The grande was beautiful and similar to la toc, just a few variations. We were able to rent out jet skis at the grande for $60 so that was incredibly fun and worth the trip over. If you're still hanging on to this review, just go ahead and book. You will not regret it and your soul will be yearning for the next trip back when you leave. I shed a few tears on the last day because we had such an incredible time. Celebrate your honeymoon, birthday, anniversary or just life at sandals St. Lucia and you will be so, so glad that you did. I definitely left a piece of my heart there when I left. THANK YOU SANDALS AND THANK YOU ST. LUCIA!

Overall we had a great time during our trip. This was our first trip to an all inclusive style resort. Some things were absolutely fantastic somethings were not as amazing as we thought they should be. The Pitons and La Toc are the best restaurants at the resort. At La Toc the filet was amazing. We had Laticia and a Kelsey (hopefully I got their names right) as waitresses and they were two of the best three servers we had during our week stay by far. They were welcoming and friendly and went above and beyond to make us feel welcome Pitons has a lamb that is the best dish served at the resort. And their chocolate cake is the best dessert. We went twice during our stay. Rachel (again hopefully I spelled the name right) was our waitress one night and she was absolutely fantastic. She was so much more friendly than a lot of the servers we had at the resort. Skylar was one of our Butlers, and she was the only one of the three I thought really made having a Butler worth it, she had answers to every question we asked and got everything we needed quickly and was always a smiling friendly face. We had a private pool in the room, which was nice but because its shady the water was always cold. We did the Piton hike. It was a difficult hike and we hike all the time. I wish we would have brought a backpack from home so we could have carried more snacks and water. It was a lot of fun, but we honestly feel like the price is too expensive for what you do. We also went to pigeon island for the scavenger hunt. I wish we would have had more time to explore the island alone and just look around. That trip also cost more than we thought it was worth, it would have been better to take a taxi and enjoy the island for as long as we wanted. Be prepared for going everywhere on the island to take almost an hour because of the small windy roads.

    Wonderful!!!

My husband and I spent 7 nights at La Toc celebrating out 15th wedding anniversary. This is our 5th Sandals, but our first time to St Lucia. This is our 3rd time having butlers. Thanks to the other tips on TA, I was aware not to let the men at the airport take my bags a few steps to the Sandals lounge. They were all wearing orange shirts and they stood right under the Sandals sign over the doorway, so it is deceiving. You might think they are with Sandals. We merely said we could take our own bags, wished them a nice day, and pushed through the double-doors to see the Sandals lounge just down the hallway. We spent only enough time in the lounge to use the restroom and have a beer, then our shuttle was ready. We traveled with 3 other couples and had great conversation on the ride that took exactly 60 minutes. This was on a Saturday afternoon, so I believe that meant much less traffic than a weekday. The ride was not winding in the first 20 mins, but then it was through winding roads though that does not bother us and we just enjoyed the scenery. Our driver pulled over at a beautiful lookout point, but we never got out of the van. We checked in at the butler lounge which is much easier than it has been in the past now that all the info is loaded on the iPad. We did have 3 butlers at this resort. They were all nice, but we prefer having only 2 butlers as we have had at other resorts. The butlers here also did not do all the things our butlers have done in the past – particularly at Negril where they did EVERYTHING and more for us. For example, in Negril, our butlers made reservations for us at restaurants which didn’t require them. They also walked us to our table for every dinner and had flower petals there, then got us our first drink. At this resort, we were only escorted to our table at the La Toc restaurant and there were no flower petals (though we did have towel animals and flower messages in our room on some nights). Only once did one butler bring us a snack at the pool. Of course, they did get our chairs and coolers set up every day at whichever pool we said we were going to (the main reason I pay for butlers). There is a strict rule at the pool to have a personal item on your chair by 10am, or it’s up for grabs to anyone. Our butlers here were still very good. They never missed one single request we made, and were very easy to reach. We stayed in an Edgewater 2-story suite in the Pitons bldg. BEST LOCATION AT THE RESORT and wonderful view. It is about midway in the property with a walking path out our back balcony to the main part of the property. The road out the front of our rooms in much more hilly. (Really wish we could lock the sliders when we went out that way, but we went that way a lot since all our valuables were in the safe.) We were next to Soy/Kimonos, a 1 minute walk there. We could walk up a short hill to the Armando’s area too. When I had heels on, our butler drove us in their golf cart. Easy peasy! Our room was very nice, but not great for light sleepers. The bathroom off the bedroom has no door, so the light shines in from the windows in the shower despite the great blackout curtains in the bedroom. The toilet is the only thing with a door. The open vent in the shower also let you here the surf and the night critters which are very loud. Even though this all woke me up early each day, I would stay in the same room if we to back. The bed was ok - not great, not bad - on the firm side. Sheets and towels were very soft. We split our time between the main pool and the Sunset Pool (by Armandos). Midweek is probably the hardest time to find a chair, but weekends have less people at the pools I believe. Samira serving drinks at both pools made the day even better – particularly when my husband was playing golf and Samira chatted with me each time she passed by. There is also a Pitons pool, but that was away from the beach and seemed to have less of a breeze. I don’t see where some reviews mention the area around the pools is slippery. The main pool seemed fine – sure you can get suntan lotion on your feet, so then be careful. The Sunset pool had some terracotta accent tiles and those seemed slippery, but easily avoided by stepping over them. The Pitons pool was all the terracotta tiles, so maybe that is where it is slippery – we did not spend time there. Getting drinks at the Sunset pool was easy because it was never crowded when we were there. Either Samira helped us, or we went to the swim up bar. Getting drinks at the main pool was more challenging. I usually went to the bar inside behind the pool and that was fast. The swim up pool is crowded and the very young honeymooners are not good at taking turns ordering drinks even when Andre the awesome bartender would ask, “who is next”. All our meals were wonderful. By far, Armando’s was our favorite! We ate dinner there on our last night and breakfast nearly every day. Stania, the hostess, was so sweet every morning we saw her – even when I spilled my iced tea – she did not want me to even think about it and quickly moved us. We had breakfast only once at the Pavilion. I didn’t see the birds other reviews mentioned, and flies (which are everywhere, not just here), were only on the foods not under cover, but sealed, like butter packs, yogurt packs, etc. And the cats…. Yep, they exist at every outdoor restaurant, but we were told by management they are a work in progress to remove them. They take a few at a time to a shelter for adoption. Can’t bring them all at once, of course. They do not bother you if you ignore them. The good thing is, there is always someone willing to feed them (guilty!) so they stay by them and don’t stay where they are not fed. This is not a Sandals issue. As you drive around the island, you will see stray cats and dogs everywhere – same as I have seen in other islands. Our package included the private candlelight dinner which we had on our actual anniversary. Usually, they are served on the beach in the sand, but I asked to not be on the sand and they accommodated by putting us in a cabana right at the edge of the sand. We lucked out because it began to rain and we were dry in our cabana. Theodora was a fabulous server. I was shocked at how hot our food was considering how far the walk must have been to bring everything. I happened to have the lamb chops which I had at Pitons earlier in the week, but the private dinner lamp chops were much better – Theodora said there is a different chef for the private dinners who actually stopped by to check on us too. We really enjoyed this dinner (especially being “free”) and recommend it if you are celebrating something to make it worth the price. Entertainment was good here, but not to the level of the Jamaica Sandals we have been to. Here there were only about 2 or 3 from the entertainment team at any event. The piano bar player was hit or miss on different nights, but Lucas bartending there was fabulous. He was the best at karaoke and made the best Chambord margaritas. We miss them, Lucas, and we missed you on Friday night when you were off, but that is a well-deserved day off! The various singers at the Pavilion were also very good if you can stand the heat built up under that small area. Grab a chair over in the dining area at the pool’s edge facing the back of the singer and you will be much more comfortable. Everyone at the resort is really very nice and happy to help anyway they can. Are there some that walk past you without acknowledging you? Sure, but I assume they are deep in thought like I am when I’m walking to work. We happened to meet, Fedora, our housekeeper one morning. I could have stayed and chatted with her all day. She is a wonderful person and did an amazing job in our room every day. Never did we need to ask for toiletries, towels, etc during our entire stay. I do recommend using the Loop on the Sandals app if you have it. You can compliment staff members instantly and they find out within a few hours which really makes their day (I assume they get something else too since they will tell you about the Loop). You can also use it to report any issues. We had a broken closet door handle I reported on the Loop one morning while I was lounging at the pool. By the time I got back to my room, it was fixed. The management staff also walks around each pool at 11am and 4pm each day and they are happy to help if you have any issues. I realize it interrupts your trip if you have any major room issues, but they do happen, and Sandals is #1 at addressing them. That’s one of the many reasons we booked our next Sandals vacation at the Loyalty Desk with wonderful Jasma before we left. Jasma was also our table host at the returning guest dinner and we enjoyed getting to know her. She is a beautiful person (inside and out)! We could definitely see ourselves going back to La Toc after we get through all the other Sandals on our bucket list! Next we are Sandals Montego Bay bound in May!

My husband and I just got back from our honeymoon and it was perfect! We stayed in an Oceanview honeymoon suite with our own pool which was AMAZING. Our butlers, primarily Clovis and Tyla, took amazing care of us and answered every call, delivered every beach pizza or burger for lunch, and made us feel as if we were the only people they were helping - even when we were nearly late for dinner every night and needed our reservations changed LOL. All the staff at La Toc made us feel welcomed and like family, including bar staff, waiters/waitresses, entertainers, housekeepers, groundskeepers - it is such a friendly resort (and country in general). Truly a memorable honeymoon and we cannot wait to visit again. Highly recommend! PS - best resort food hands down! And make sure to try the late night wings in the pub.. my husband had at least 4 orders every night! PSS - get a massage - those massage therapists work magic in the spa!
