stayed for the "weekend" escape package. room price was Very reasonable. room was very nice. hotel staff were all very good. our package included "parking", two martinis in the bar each day and breakfast in "The Velvet Glove" each day.....over all this was a Very good deal. At breakfast you can order anything on the menu including the steak and eggs ($26). Our breakfast (including coffee and juice) was outstanding each day. We had "Rod" as our server one day.........he was Way above average in service and genuine friendliness .

I stayed there for a conference and I did not find my bed or pillow comfortable. Also there was no fan in the bathroom. I did enjoy their lounge. The food was tasty and the drinks were good. There is a great underground walkway connected to the hotel that has shops and restaurants.

Like its sister hotel in Toronto, the Fairmont Winnipeg offers the same very high standards of accommodation and friendly service. If you opt for the Gold option you have your own private lounge for members, on the 19th floor, which offers complimentary all-day light refreshments, plus evening Hors d'Oeuvres and desserts, and light breakfasts. There is a concierge desk where you can check in and out, comfortable seating, games, the complimentary use of a computer, and space to work if required. The main restaurant downstairs is open for the full breakfast, but closed in the evenings on weekdays. For dinner during the week you have to go to the lounge, which is also a bar. The atmosphere is convivial, and often quite loud. The waitress service is impeccable, but the food is not that good. The crispy squid had batter falling off it and was not particularly crispy, and the sauce was a very hot chilli flavour. When they say "Bites" on the menu it is in fact a whole large portion, and not a starter size.

    Very good but needs improvement

Stayed there three nights for work. On the plus side, great central location, all staff I encountered were very friendly, helpful and went out of their way to accommodate. Very accommodating, from allowing an early check in, to trying to address several small issues. I ate one dinner there, quite good, albeit a bit pricey (but normal for hotels). The hotel was also immaculately clean. On the down side; mostly relatively minor, the hotel is showing its age and is in need of a makeover. While the rooms were very clean, they are somewhat run down; worn/stained carpet, chipped/scratched furniture, an uncomfortable lumpy bed, some appliances did not work (coffee maker, kettle,). If you want to keep anything cool, you cannot use in room fridge, instead you must rent one for $25 a day. The rooms on the front of the hotel (facing main/portage) have lots of street noise, and cannot block out rather bright lights. All in all a very good hotel- but needs updating

Hotel is like stepping in to 60s. very old-fashioned decoration and would definitely need face lift to modern day. Service is helpful and good. Breakfast not included and was quite expensive for quality.
