What a brilliant hard working group of staff, weather was wonderful for the whole week that we were there. The rooms are a little drab and in need of a upgrade but it didn't spoil our holiday at all. Food choice was a little limited but its understandable when its low season. The beach is amazing and a few steps away from the pool and the bar area is located in between so no long walk to anywhere really. And I must mention DAVE what a man great fun and very helpful with anything you need to know, he could do with polishing up his domino game lol. Look forward to returning. Yvonne & Mick.

Place is a little Tired , but it is super clean and worth every penny

We stayed at the Halcyon late August 2019. We have never dared to go to the Caribbean during hurricane season, but had no issues with the weather during our stay. The property needs a lot of reno's, very outdated and bed/pillows were so very uncomfortable. We tried to switch rooms several times, as we heard that some beds are comfortable. No such luck for us. Food was good, little selection but fresh and good quality, unlike the food we had at 4 to 5 star hotels in Cuba, Dominican or Mexico. Staff was mixed, those who stood out were Lisa, Steve, Roxanne and Malachi. Kudos to these great people who were so kind and pleasant to my family during our stay. Not particularly fond of the older lady at reception during the mornings, nor the DJ who played favourites giving 6 bottles of wine to a local family during game night, and not much to others who spent the time to join the activity..We went on a circumnavigation catamaran tour, and saw amazing views. Overall, even if the hotel does not rate high, the vacation was definitely 5 star! We might try the Starfish Jolly next time, and go around spring time to avoid the jellyfish. We definitely would go back to Antigua in a heartbeat!

We were there with a group of 19 people. In my room for a family of 4, we didn't have a phone, fridge, or hairdryer and we were supposed to have the family room. Please press 0 if you need anything.....no phone!!! Second day we spoke to staff and these items we received promptly. Next door was a couple and we had the same room as them so this couldn't have been a family room. Staff work VERY hard and unfortunately get the worst treatment because the resort is falling short. However, there are some staff that need to be a bit more pleasant and smile a little more, don't look like people are bothering you, it's your job. The hotel is In need of major updates to the rooms - I heard they will be closing for these renos, will be interesting to see how it turns out and how much more $$$ it will be. Daytime manager Fenton - bossman you are amazing, along with DJ Jessie, our Guyanese chicken curry/ curry chicken lady Roxanne, the front desk lady Sean - you have great customer service skills :) Also the hard working chef, the other aqua-aerobics guy, and the Rihanna look a like bar tender. Plus so many more that we don't know the names of but they all work so hard in the HEAT! Now to the night time manager - Mr. West. This is ONE MISERABLE MAN! We were hanging out in the lobby one night and he told us to leave. We were not loud, you can hear the crickets over us!! I think it's cause he can't go in the back and SLEEP! This place has 2 bars but only one is open - the beach bar. The Lobby bar should always be open but is only open when it's raining out. And the bar should be open till at least 1am - not 11pm!! People are on VACATION!!! The entertainment needs improvement, Dj Jessie is great but he has to lock everything off by 10:45pm as per Mr. (miserable) West. The main restaurant needs renovations badly. All of the fans don't work and you are dripping sweat while eating. I don't know how the staff does it in that heat. Thank God we were in a big group - we kept each other entertained!

This was our third stay in 2 years. We love this hotel from the delicious food to the gorgeous beach from the unique pier to the beautiful gardens. The rooms have a rustic charm to them although some have issues that definitely need addressing! We were disappointed on arrival to not receive a warm welcome & an arrival drink and we were put in a shabby room at the back but we were moved to a pool view room where we spent a very happy holiday. Also nice to meet & chat with more of the people that run this lovely place at the weekly drinks on the pier. Love Antigua & love staying here. We will be back.
