This resort was small and had a great layout. I find it very enjoyable when your room is so close you can easily go back to get an item within a minute or two. The food at the main buffet was a smaller selection than what I am used to BUT was still good food. The lobby had great seating with live music in the evenings. The churros at the lobby were delicious. The bartenders at the lobby were not that friendly. If you wanted a quick beer, no problem. If you asked for a mixed drink the service was definitely different. The goal was to get those beers out quick. I felt like it was a huge hassle every time I ordered something. So I stopped ordering. It wasn't worth how their attitude made me feel. The bar service at the pool was especially awesome. Very friendly service. The seafood a la carte near the beach opened at lunch time with a very small buffet to give variety from the main buffet. The snack bar at the pool had different options as well. There is an actual bank directly beside the resort. Don't forget you need to bring your passport to exchange money. There was a foam party on the tennis court one evening. That was fun. They even brought out a little cart and made sandwiches for snacks. The beach was lovely but no natural trees for shelter. There were always loungers but sometimes a struggle to find shade. The gardeners and cleaners were so friendly. The resort was very clean. I would recommend this resort.

We stayed for 2 weeks at the end of August. I would advise you not to book this hotel. Spend a bit more and stay somewhere nicer. I would rate it at 2 star not 4. This hotel is very tired and shabby and the food was pretty bad. Hundreds of flies on the food which can’t be avoided I guess, but food can be sat out for 3 hours or so. The snack bar is disgusting, dirty and greasy and the smell of old chip fat is very off putting. The mosquitos are the worst we have ever encountered. Lots of people having antibiotic injections. . Bars are understaffed and very slow. Ran out of tonic, sprite, coke, beer etc every day. No coffee sometimes. Room was dismal, very tired and desperately in need of refurb. No mattress protectors, who knows what is on those mattresses… Sheets only changed every 4 days or so. No remote for tv, the fridge wasn’t filled every other day as promised. Hallways and stairways never cleaned and dirty plates, cups and glasses are left piled up at the entrance to the blocks. There was a disgusting tide mark on the tiles around the pool bar. Lobby toilets were vile, they stank and never had any toilet roll, but they were better than any other toilets! I would not visit this area again unless the hotels really step up and make it worthwhile. Apologies for all the negativity, I really try to make the most out of things but this hotel was pretty bad and it was upsetting that we saved for this and spent our 2 weeks here when we could have stayed at much nicer places.

We’ve stayed at the five star hotels as well but this is the best hotel in terms of having a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere. Best bang for the buck The staff are attentive and extremely friendly and ask nothing in return. Since Cuba does not have chewing gum, I brought 80 packages of gum with me and handed them around. It was overwhelmingly appreciated by all. Good cosmetics and nylons are treasures the ladies loved. The beach had some bit of reeds in it but the water was quite warm and free of anything dangerous; no jellyfish and no sharks. A spa excursion is available for about $55 Canadian including facials, massage, etc. and taxi to and from the spa. I’ll be going again and again.

First of all this is my forth time in Cuba so I do know what to expect from the hotels there. They are not to the same star system to our hotels or any other around the would. So a four star for them is more like a 2 -3 for us. Stayed at Iberostar Daiquiri for a week op covers on both beds was stained and dirty. Sheets on bed was clean. Beds was comfortable. Bathroom although seems to be updated could do with a lick of paint on the doors. Sliding doors in cupboard would not open unless you lifted it up and moved across. Iron but no ironing board. We had to use the bed. TV but no remote control to operate it. Towels not changed every day. Fridge not stocked up unless you complained at reception. As I said I have been to Cuba before and fundamentally the basics was not in place. Out air con worked really well for about three days then it started to leak like mad. Water all over the floor. Maid put our towels on the floor to mop it up by nobody seemed to be informed that there was fault. After another two days I had enough of the maid using our towels to mop floor and complained to reception again. finally it was fixed within the hour. Also cleaning standard in our room was really poor. accommodation is in blocks and for the first two days there was dirty plates and food in the entrance to our floor in our block. Again maids was in and our every day but failed to take it away. also floors to entrance was never cleaned so there was drink stains all over the place. A little care to detail goes a long way. Food was really poor. Many people was complaining. The poor bar needs looking at and staff need to be taught how to cook chips without over cooking them. If you like chips dark brown or black you will be ok here. Buffett again very poor. I have seen better. And at this point im not sure if it is because hotel is in an island and not on main land but the hotels on main land seem to get better food. Found staff to be very friendly but because thee seems to be no money invested into this hotel they lacked enthusiasm in the things they do. Which is a great shame. Outside the hotel there really is nothing to do. If you want a relaxing holiday then this is the place including any other hotel on the islands. But if like me and my daughter you would like to see the real Cuba this is not the place for you. Disappointed with hotel as we went to another hotel on a day out and discovered ours seems to be the worse of the lot. The hotels are all around the Mangroves so there is more then normal mosquitos around. Some people were getting lots of bits. On a whole it has not put me off Cuba but I would choose a main land hotel next time.

Firstly, let me say that we did have a great time in Cuba and that in no way, this review put a dampener on our trip. The staff were great, friendly and helpful. Our room was always cleaned thoroughly every day and the resort itself was kept clean and tidy throughout. On the downside, it was a little tatty in places. The bathroom light switch was coming away from the wall and the doors were flimsy and in need of a paint. The beach towels were often frayed and full of holes and some days you couldn’t change them because they had run out of clean ones. The food was adequate in as much as there was plenty of choice, however it had often gone cold and dried up and had flies swarming around. I expect flies because of the climate, however there seemed to be little around to prevent them landing on the food. As a result I was unwell for a day and was confined to bed. The snack bar was disappointing in as much as the food would take 20-30 minutes to prepare and then would arrive cold. The Mexican and Italian restaurants were enjoyable though. Drink wise there was little to complain about, there was enough choice although they did run out of something nearly every day. The entertainment in the evening was good in the lobby area, lots of variety and vey talented musicians and singers but the evening show was a disappointment. It felt like it was essentially the same show every night with different costumes, once you had seen the first couple then that was it. The beaches were superb, beautiful sands, with blue/green sea and a great view. There were a few things to do on the beach, we particularly enjoyed the snorkelling at a nearby island with fantastic corals. So in conclusion, this trip was sold to us as a 4 star resort. It certainly wasn’t that, 2-3 at best. We had a great holiday all the same, it was a shame that the resort wasn’t up to our expectations but with some improvements it could be.
