    Best choice in Waikiki

We've spend 10 days in Waikiki in the Aqua Pacific Monarch and our idea was to live in a small but centrally located apartment with a small kitchen so we could prepare our own meals if we wanted to. Also we are both not typically huge fans of hotel breakfast as it typically is over-priced compared to what you really get. With that in mind we picked the Monarch and were not at all disappointed. The apartment was big enough to not feel squeezed into a lil box so once you got out of the bed the day started at the breakfast table (coffee machine had been activated before :-)) with a large cup of self-made Kona coffee and a simple white toast with cheese. (Be aware that the ABC Stores in the neighborhood massively overcharge you on the basic stuff even - so it's worth to get to one of the supermarkets near by and get your stuff there) The Monarch is in walking distance to all the important spots in Waikiki. Even Diamond Head would be in reach if you don't mind starting your hike through the suburbs of Waikiki... All rooms were comfortably equipped, daily fresh towels if you wanted them, beach towels, TV (which we only used once). Personell were all super friendly.

We stayed in a studio with kitchenette and partial Ocean Views and found it very spacious. It was handy with the kitchenette as it had a hotplate, microwave, reasonable size bar fridge, we had a couple of convenience meals, from the ABC shop nearby, at night in our room and sat and looked at the night lights while we ate, the microwave was handy for that. We also made our own breakfasts most of the time to save money a bit, again the kitchenette was handy for that. We were on the 22nd floor as was another travelling party with us, but they had a one bedroom unit (they had a child with them) and had full ocean view, but as it was at the end of the building it got hot in the afternoon. Ours had a nice breeze and saw just as much of the ocean. Another party of ours was on the 7th floor with supposed same as us, but they had no view whatsoever, except into the dilapidated noisy units next door. The city itself was very noisy with the sounds echoing around the buildings, but if you close the windows and put on the airconditioning, it is noisy, and blasts cold air straight onto the bed where you are sleeping. As it was tail end of winter the nights were pleasant, thus aircon wasn't required.

I recently stayed at the Aqua Pacific Monarch and was very happy with our room and accomodation. Honolulu accomodation from my research is quite expensive and this location proved to be good value for money. The staff are very friendly and helpful. We booked a One bedroom Full ocean view room and were situated on the 22nd Floor. The room decor is dated but that is very common with Accomodation in Honolulu from what I can tell. It was very clean which is what counts. If you are having a family vacation to Honolulu then I would recommend this hotel definitely.

VERY UNCLEAN HOTEL there were cockroaches in our room and they also sprayed against cockroaches while we were there, which should have helped but didn’t and instead created major fumes in our room that left us light headed. When we complained they allowed us to move rooms, but the new room had pee all over the toilet seat and a hole in the wall to the balcony with bird poop in it. We came here with a young baby and are looking for other hotels for the rest of our stay due to the major lack of hygiene in the hotel. I would not recommend this as a safe environment for young children.

Nice hotel, but be aware of Parking garage and tow sharks.

Stayed here recently. The hotel is nice. The view from our room was great. Location was amazing and only 2 blocks from Waikiki Beach. Lots of restaurants, bars, and shopping all nearby. My only gripe is the parking garage. which is serviced as a separate entity from the hotel. I believe it is monitored by ABM parking. Stayed a whole week at this hotel and prepaid for a weeks parking pass. Everyday we entered the garage I would show my parking pass to the attendant and also walked down and spoke to the attendant and provided all of our vehicle info. Make, Model, Color, License plate, my name. etc....Even though we saw the same two workers all week. On the last day they towed my car. When I drove in showed the garage attendant my parking pass, but accidentally placed my pass in my center console instead of the dash. Car got towed. Even though the guy knew which car we drove had all our car info. Still got towed. Cost $242.50 to get it out and even the tow yard was just a sketchy business. Only took cash and that it. This experience made it very off putting for me. I wouldn't be surprised if the two companies gave kick backs to to people who call in the tows. Even though I liked the hotel. This parking experience has made me bitter about ever staying at this location.
