View from our 8th floor 1 BR unit was magnificent. The unit was spacious, recently recarpeted and well equipped. Front desk staff was friendly and helpful. Kitchen was adequately equipped but coffee maker needed filters not provided; otherwise fine and very workable

Our usual place to stay on Maui at Lahaina remained closed due to Covid-19 on 11/5/2020. The Aston Mahana at Kaanapali seemed like a close match so we decided to give it a try. For the most part it had what we expected and needed...right on the beach, quiet and clean. We like to dine, shop, tour and fish right in Lahaina so it required a car trip to do so, as opposed to staying right in town. Here is our one problem with the stay: No Housekeeping! For a six night stay nobody even came to our room to make a bed or give clean towels. We went to the front desk for laundry soap, clean towels and shampoo. Not once did they ask why. We assumed it was Covid-19 related and we were on our own. At checkout my wife asked about it and the front desk person accused us of having the "Do Not Disturb" sign out. No way! Stayed in few places and it always seemed like there was a housekeeper on each floor with a clipboard making sure every room was made up. Okay. It was an oversight. Let's not tell the guest it was probably our fault. We know better. And do not take my phone number and say the manger will give us call. Lot's of places in Kaanapali, let alone all of Maui to stay at. Give it a try but make sure they clean you room.

    My "go-to" resort on Maui

We have stayed here numerous times, and plan to return many times in the future. The condos are spacious, well-maintained, and all are beachfront. I love the fact that the master bedroom faces the beach, so I can sleep with the sliding glass door open, hearing and feeling the soft ocean breezes all night. The pool is just right -- not very large, with only a jacuzzi adjacent. (There are no children's pools or play areas, which is wonderful for folks like me. My kids are grown and I enjoy a quiet, peaceful place to relax, unwind, read good books, and savor a glass of wine on my lanai each evening without the ambient noise children inevitably bring.) The staff at the Mahana is friendly and accommodating. I am always welcomed back with recognition that is genuine, not feigned. Can't wait for the pandemic to end so that I can return.

    Peaceful and secluded

The grounds are well maintained. A few steps and you can have a swim and snorkel. The staff are very attentive to our needs and very friendly. The view from the lanai is more than enough if you want to see the sunset. The smell of the sea and the sound of the waves is something that we missed when we came back home. Supplies for the kitchen and dining is ample. Cooked a few meals when we were there. We were there when the lockdown and stay home mandate took effect. But the place makes you feel like you’re in a different place. Sun and sea a few steps away. There’s a spa next to the pool and you can just relax and watch the sunset. The pool is quite small but who really needs it when your close to the beach. A second visit to Maui and staying again in this place is a plan in the making already. Thank you to all that made our stay memorable.

    Whale watching in Paradise

My husband and I just spent a wonderful 10 days in luxurious condo unit 914 on the 9th floor of the Mahana. Higher is better during whale season; load up with plenty of food, beverages and snacks and you can spend an entire day watching the whales if you so choose. We stayed in the unit a couple of our days, but every day we saw many spouts while eating breakfast! From the first moment you walk into the Mahana you feel welcomed by the gracious front desk staff. Unit 914 is outfitted with everything you need. You can hunker down, or take off for the day with the cooler and ice provided for your use. If you want to do some of your own cooking, the kitchen has top of the line GE Prestige appliances as well as a rice cooker, blender, coffee maker, etc. Waking up to 100% Kona coffee purchased from the Times Market is bliss; carrying it onto the lanai to watch whales is even better. The living room is large and beautifully furnished, and the king size bed is softly firm with comfy pillows. The bedroom and living room have floor to ceiling windows so you can wake up and watch whales from your bed if you wish. Having a washer and dryer in the unit makes it easy to pack just a few clothes leaving room to take home all your shopping treasures that remind you of your memorable Mahana stay. Access to the Kaanapali boardwalk right next to the parking lot made the few hundred foot walk to Dukes for Happy Hour so easy. We also were able to take morning walks directly onto the beach from the pool area. Sometimes we headed back to the condo on the boardwalk as there are many access points from the beach. Also it is easy to walk down the driveway and across the street to the Times Market shopping Center for restaurants, urgent care, shops and the market. The Mahana is in a great location!! I can’t imagine a better place to stay while in Maui than unit 914 at the Aston Mahana! Aloha!
