Just returned from our two week girlie holiday at Decameron Runaway Bay and glad to say we had an amazing time there. Lovely spacious beach huts that were so much better than a boring enclosed hotel room. Good choice of food at breakfast, lunch and dinner. Plenty of space on the beaches and pool side to relax. Free water sports and fun water aerobics daily. Excellent hardworking and friendly entertainment team. Special thanks to the lovely sassy Britney for being an outstanding team member - this girl works so hard and deserves a holiday! And to the boys Bryan, Richie and new team member Walay - give this boy a permanent contract please! He’s fab! The Decameron dance crew were something else though. Such amazing and talented dancers that I was in total awe of them every time they took to the stage. A privilege to see their shows as they put in 110% energy and passion every time. Loved this holiday. Thank you x

This was our first visit to Jamaica and the Royal Decameron Hotel made it a very enjoyable experience. Most of the staff are very friendly, our only poor customer service was in the Hotel Shop, we visited the shop three times, and each time we had poor customer service, on one occasion we stood by the counter for 3 minutes waiting to be served whilst the young lady chatted to her partner and just ignored us. The food in the hotel is good with a variety of dishes, the main restaurant is a buffet self service with waiter service for the drinks, there are also two a la carte restaurants that you can book and both are worth a visit to get away from the hustle bustle of a busy self service restaurant. Our accomodation was a garden hut, it was clean and well kept, Gwedelyne our cleaner was fantastic, it had a TV, the bed was large and comfy, the shower did not run hot but after a couple days we found it refreshing. There are two pools, we used the quiet pool on one occasion and found it very relaxing. The four coves give plenty of space for swimming and snorkelling, there are plenty of sun beds in each cove. The hotel has Wi-Fi which costs $20 for 24 hrs of use which was ample for our 10 night stay, it also covers two mobiles, you have to pay for the safe key which is $20, and be warned there are hefty fines if you lose your key, wristbands or beach towels. There are free water sports, and also a guided bike ride out of the complex. As .a note we bumped in to the Hotel manager on our last day and informed him about the poor customer service in the shop, and he dealt with it straightaway. All in all we highly recommend this hotel, and would like to think we will return again some time in the future.

Well been back a week and sorry to say the only thing I miss about this place this year is its Idyllic setting. stunningly beautiful and not too big a complex that has a real personal feel about it, like being family. Many of you will probably not agree with what I have written but when you consider how much we spent I think we are entitled to have our say. I brought my family here this year there were 6 adults one teen and toddler. I brought them here as George and I loved everything about it and had had such an amazing time last year. This years trip was very special to me and my family as it was a huge thank you to my girls for all their help and support at a cost well over £14000.00. I had to make complaints about numerous problems we experienced, and had asked to see management on 3 separate occasions and left my room number with reception for them to contact me. It was only by my daughter catching Almando the General Manager at breakfast that we got to relay our complaints. Food: Every time we tried the curried goat it was nothing more than bone. As were many of the other on the bone foods. The Jasmine snack bar, never opened on time, and never had full menu items, i.e. Patties, Pizzas. First time we visited we were turned away abruptly by rude staff as they were not ready this was approx 1pm. 2nd time not a full menu. 3rd time my daughter had to wait 15-20 mins before being served, even though people who came after her were served immediately. and again staff were rude. Almando arranged for us to have specially prepared curried goat and patties for our lunch. Unfortunately it was still full of bone and we presumed it had come out of the same pot as everyone elses. There were alot of staff always shouting when passing our cottages on an evening. Coffee machine on the end of the bar was never working. Almando said it was a new machine, I stated the machine was there last year and worked most of the time. He then said it was an indoor machine and suitable for the bar area and would be having it replaced!! Entertainment We had joined in many of the activities as did my Grandaughter, who won a few prizes, and was told 4 nights running she would receive them, however, she only received them after I complained to Almando, who made an extra effort for her behalf, but some of the entertainments team were off hand with us after this. The entertainment was exactly the same as last year even down to the quiz questions, noting flowed as it did when O'neill was running the team. He was always present and joined in. And there were no long gaps between events.Unlike the guy who is there now, he was that memorable I can't remember his name, think we sore him once. Some members can get rather over competitive and rough when playing pool games. Intimidation: My eldest daughter was sat at the Jetty bar one night on her own as she didn't want to see the show and was surrounded by 4 male staff members plus the barman, who harassed her verbally re sexual matters, that she had to leave the bar. Almando said he would check CCTV and speak to them. Also that he would address all issues with staff personally including the beach staff. Also my youngest daughter & boyfriend were constantly harassed by beach staff outside there cottage and got tot the point where they felt they couldn't sit outside. And on the day we left they still demanded his shorts and sliders. Building Work: as it woke my daughters up. Almando said they work 9 - 6 and that he had had previous complaints re the cottage being worked on as well as some others on site. Dirty Beach: We were constantly picking up rubbish that had either been washed up or thrown onto the beach. We left it in a pile for the beach staff but it took them over a week to remove it. Almando: Is a very pleasant man to deal with, however, we did feel we had been fobbed off as he had an excuse for everything and was more interested in showing us the hotels ratings since he had taken over in the last 4 month.

Just had a week at this wonderful resort and can honestly it’s the first time Iv ever been away and would be happy to go back there. Iv never been to such a friendly resort, absolutely everyone, staff and guests make a real effort to get to know you and chat. I’m guessing because the staff really make the effort, it makes all the guests do too. If you put the effort in and greet everyone with a smile and friendlyness, you get the same back. However there are a few staff who you can see really can’t be arsed, especially down in the snack bar. The rooms were lovely, we stayed in a garden bungalow, second row from the beach, so literally steps from the sand. showers could do with replacing, no hose to remove to clean yourself properly and the bath feels like it moved under you and could possibly give way at any second lol, but really good pressure and lovely clean rooms, lots of space and excellent air con. My one real gripe with the place is a lack of somewhere to really rely, listen to the ocean and have peace and quiet. The entertainment in this place is serious, an excellent team of lovely friendly guys, who really try to get everyone involved, but because of this there is entertainment 247. Boy do these guys work some hours. So there is something on constant, with noise constantly and no real place to escape it at the beach. So we savour the morning sun on the beach 8 till 10, when the mayhem then starts!

Beware of 12 yr. old "Adults! "

On our third visit to Royal Cameron Club,Runaway Bay, we took our two grandchildren, ages 17 & 12. After arriving, the front staff informed us that the 12 yr. girl was considered an adult & we owed them $400.00 more for her! We contacted "Cheaptickets.com", & they indicated they would contact DeCameron to assist us. Long story short, we sat in the check in area for over 3 hours while the front desk staff helped other new customers. We were hot, tired, hungry and angry, before it was over. We met the manager, but all we got from him was a smile. We were not loud, or making any kind of scene. Finally, as the front desk completely ignored our family most of the afternoon, as well as the phone constantly ringing, we reluctently doled out $400.00 more for our 12 yr. old grand daughter for her 3 day "adult" stay. The food was good, with the various local fruits, desserts, & "goat stew"; the restaurant/ bar wait staff, especially Kermit, was excellent . There were plenty of daily water games etc. for the youngsters. as well as evening entertainment . Since we felt the 17 yr. old would be taking one of his last family trips with us, we filled our Jamaican visit with local sights. We visited the caves & local gardens & the Catholic Church in Ocho Rios. "Rocky" took us to the "glistening waters", as well as a most interesting historical home which turned out to be much older than Rose Hall. Rocky was very informative about the local Jamaican life and helped us "make lemonade" out of a truly lousy beginning day! A month later, after much consternation & help, Cheap tickets kindly refunded the $400.00!
