Sadly disappointed with the state of such a once top class luxury hotel. The exterior of the buildings are rotting away, some of the out buildings have holes in the roofs, the corner joinery of the once world renowned log building are decaying to the point we are not certain how they can be repaired. Birds were nesting in the logs around our window. It's such a sad sight for us as we've always admired the grounds and were once in awe of the magnificence of the main building. Although renovations have begun internally to some of the wings, the cost of a deluxe unrenovated room was highly overpriced. We realize we stayed during the pandemic and no restaurants were open inside the hotel, but the lack of a complimentary coffee/snack bar would have been the least the hotel could have done to help their guests and thank them for their stay. We did receive a complimentary water bottle, but overall highly lacked the experience of a luxury hotel. The in-room dining service was extremely over-priced and the only option within the hotel. Luckily being from the region, we were permitted to go to the few local restaurants that were open (gov't issued i.d. was required). The pool, hot tub & massages we all disappointing. The hotel seems to be overrun by families with young children running about, so much so that on a nice Saturday evening safely gathered around the stunning fireplace, all adults retreated to their rooms because the noise of rambunctious kids running about and parents who didn't seem to notice their behavior. On our many walks on their lovely trails, not once did we see another person, not even families with children itching to burn off steam. Although the Chateau Montebello was once a favourite, we are uncertain if we will return.

    Great stay.

Although some things were a bit dated, it was very comfortable and many activities for the family to do on site. Love the fireplace in the lobby and firepits outdoors at night. Curling clinic was a fun a different type of fun tHt we had never tried before.

Adapted very well to Covid19 reality

All our expectations were met, we felt safe and well-protected from contact with other guests. Thanks to management for providing the facilities for a brief family get-away while complying with all the required safety precautions.

Great service and excellent room, loved the rustic architecture. My primary gripe / point of contention was the lack of availability of a microwave during COVID. Due to COVID, we were not able to dine in at any restaurants and had to bring take-out back to our room. Naturally, the food would get a bit cold by the time we returned so we would've liked to heat it up before eating. I was disappointed that when asking the front desk, they insisted on a $25/day fee for a microwave to be included in the room! For perspective, to rent the microwave for my 4 night stay would've cost more than ordering a microwave from Amazon and having it delivered! I'm disappointed that the Fairmont would not be more accommodating, especially for someone on a longer term stay. Mini fridge was also tiny, too small to store much food/beverage. Outside of that, an excellent location

I always enjoy staying at Chateau Montebello. I love the look of the large log cabin and the giant fireplace in the lobby. There are plenty of free activities to do on the site as well as lovely walking trails; one of them leads you right into town. The staff is always super friendly. Highly recommended!!!
