    IHG/Crowne Plaza Not honoring their policy and processing refunds. Citing associates on lay-off.

    Of course my reservation for July was cancelled as the hotel was closed for the pandemic. I received my cancellation in late June. It's been over 4 months and still have not received the refund. The IHG cancellation policy states "If you cancel a rate which required a deposit or payment in advance, we will do everything we can to process your refund as quickly as possible. Refunds ... may take up to 90 days for hotels to process from the date of cancellation...." So far it's been 120 days and I received this reply recently. ". Unfortunately, the Hotel remains completely closed, with all of its associates on lay-off, awaiting an infusion of Capital from its lenders. There is still no firm timeline to provide as to when the Hotel will be able to continue processing refunds." Unacceptable. I know of no other chain that is holding customer's money hostage as is Crowne Plaza IHG.

    Had to cancel our trip in July, that was booked for August, due to COVID-19. At that time, I was told I’d have a refund in September. In September, I was told October. It’s now October, I’ve made several attempts to check status on my refund and I’ve not received any response or refund. Extremely disappointed in the customer service and communication. I’ve had to cancel several other trips since July, all of which I received my hotel refund in just a few days. I’ve been patient and understanding of the impact this has had, for four months, but now this is starting to feel like I’m getting the run around and I’ll never see my refund!

    Had booking for June, 2020 which was cancelled in april due to covid. Was told i would receive full refund in 90 days but never received it. After many calls and messages was told i would receive it by end of august. Again never received it. Contacted Crowne plaza again to be told i would receive it shortly. Still no word. I had other trips and flights cancelled by other companies and received full refunds no problem. Think it is shocking that still not received refund and when i call get passed about.

    I had to cancel my trip due to Covid-19 in April, promised a refund within 90 days and I’ve received nothing. I chased again and was told 1/9 to re-open and now I’ve been told 1/10 - As they are awaiting capital from there lenders. This is not good enough, considering everyone has been impacted by this and you have no right to retain my funds. Safe to say when I can visit one day, I won’t be staying here...

    Like other posters, I have not recieved a refund for a May trip that I cancelled in April. When I contacted IHG customer service, I was told I had to wait until the Crowne Plaza received a loan to cover the refunds. However, I made this reservation through IHG and cancelled through IHG. When I mentioned this, I was told that refunds are handled individually by the hotel. All my calls to the hotel are forwarded to IHG customer service. This experience has caused me to reconsider my association with IHG, through whom our family owns a timeshares and has used extensively in travel.
