Hotel was average Cons: buffet was decent but the restaurants were always full never had availability for our family (6) one of the restaurants doesn't allow kids, bought an excursion through the hotel and was never warned there was a max weight prior to purchasing. Bedroom sheets were stained Pros: Location was good, pool was decent and the room was spacious. Dinner buffets we’re good and staff was overall friendly

Kevin is the best fantastic team leader. host in the resort . He makes sure everyone is happy. He leads all the games and resort events with a positive mental attitude and a great smile. He is bilingual and makes sure everyone is happy and participating. Grand Park Royal Puerto Vallarta was a great experience and I'll be back.

The location is beautiful and the staff are all very friendly, but the beach is pretty rough (ie. you can’t just float and relax). The food wasn’t the best, especially at supper time (breakfast was generally ok) and they had weird timelines on when you could get things (like you couldn’t have the ice coffee until 2pm and couldn’t have gelato after 6:30pm). Overall it was a fine stay, but would have expected more for what we paid.

Room was great, WiFi was great... Food was not that good, and most of the pool, due to the location, did not receive sun until after 2pm... So you better like the beach earlier in the day, or you will be in the shade a lot. Staff / Service was excellent, however we did notice that most people do not tip, so maybe we were pampered a bit, as our group did tip.
Good and bad

Booked 3 months in advance for a suite with seperate area so after putting our children's to sleep we could have adult time. When we arrived we were told they didn't have that room available to us and tried to give us two rooms instead that weren't attached. We obviously didn't except as we can't leave two children under 4 by themselves in a room and were forced to stay in a down graded room with 4 of us sharing one bed. They didn't even want to refund the difference as they said they were offering us two rooms. Eventually after 3 conversations w/ "management" over two days they refunded the difference between the rooms for one day but no other incentives for the error or hassle of the the entire experience not to mention having to move our belongings ourselves the next day. Really poor front desk management. After being told by the desk supervisor "Desi" that our room we reserved would be ready the next day. The next day we go to the front desk at noon and are told that our reserved room still isn't ready, come back at 4. Meanwhile they tried to make us leave the downgraded room they gave us at noon as they said it needed to be cleaned for the next guest. We obviously refused which was another long discussion. At 4 we went to the front desk again and they knew nothing about our situation and we had to spend close to 45 minutes for them to "figure it out". A complete nightmare to start our stay here. When we finally were given our pre booked reserved suite we were met with a room that was dirty. Floors with beach sand and food particles. A TV set with only 75% of the screen working. A dead cock roach in the entry way. A couch with what looked like dried vomit from a previous guest. We had to track down a housekeeper and give her cash to have her come back and clean the room properly. This is not a 5 star resort. This is a 3 at best. The view is beautiful from the room I can't deny that but that's one of the few positives. Other positives are some of the staff are amazing like Orlando and Carlos in the buffet. As well as Maria and Jenny buffet hostesses. The night shows are actually really good. Unfortunately, they start at 930 and end at 1030 which isn't great for little ones as well as the noise from the music if you like to go to bed before 11. You're provided beach chairs and an umbrella if you give the lifeguard 10-20 USD( changed by the day) otherwise nothing is available even though it's supposed to be included. Pools are not heated. One is cloudy and disgusting by 11 am from some genius that decided to attach the kids pool to the swim up bar where people sit and drink while they pee all day in the pool. The only reason we didn't leave after one day was bc it was my mother in law's 70th bday and we just tried to make the best of the cards we were dealt. There were ten of us in total. I do not recommend this hotel. I would never return here. We made it through the week but 4 of the ten of us got stomach sick for a couple of days my mother in law included. Unfortunately, we stayed at the Westin for 8 days prior to our arrival which was amazing and the difference between a 4 star Westin and a so called 5 star Grand park was astonishing. It should be criminal to call this a 5 star resort. When we were emailed a survey by the resort after our stay and expressed out many negative experiences we were met with a reply that said a majority of people speak highly of the staff. We almost burst out laughing. Do you research and go elsewhere.
