To start off this review, I must say that the Outstanding food and top notch service is what is memorable about this Resort. I will get into that later. The property condition itself after a hurricane in March was in need of work. The property was evidently stunning, with a multitude of spectacular water/lighting features throughout. However, at least 90% of them were inoperable. The room was spacious and well appointed, but it was very musty smelling. We got used to it and it would not be a reason to not return, but it seems that the possible water damage to the beautiful wood flooring is evident in the aroma. The property overall was clean and the landscaping was being worked on daily, but some of the damage from the hurricane(s) was evident. The ownership will need to put money and effort into repairing much of the damage before this property will be considering 5 star again. Overall, it really is a beautiful property, but we couldn't help but think how much better it once was, or could be. With that being said, from the food and service, to the managers, waiters, bartenders, concierge, housekeeping crew etc.....They are the glue of this Resort by far. Everyone was friendly, accommodating and went out of their way to make us feel at home and like VIPs. Being a former Executive Chef, I quietly scrutinize food, because it is inbred in me. And the food was absolutely outstanding in both restaurants, Ambar and Aquamarina. Every plate was modern, tight and with clean and consistent presentation. Ambar, the fine dining establishment, was a beautiful room with really great service. We did 4 courses each night we dined and the menu and nightly features enabled us to eat there 4 times and we were able to have a great variety and try much of the Chefs cuisine without it being redundant at all. The cocktails and wine selections were fantastic. The wait staff and bartenders were spot on every night including some spectacular tableside drinks and desserts. For me the highlight of the property. We dined at the upscale casual Aquamarina for breakfast, some lunches and beach side food and 3 dinners. The food, themes and entertainment there was a pleasant surprise!!! The food was very much on par with Ambar (I assume the crews are interchangeable because of the excellent consistency of food and service). The dining and drink service at this resort was as good or better than any resort we have been to (which is several including Andaz in Costa Rica and The Lodge at Chaa Creek and Victoria House in Belize which are world class). The value at this property is the all inclusive. The food and beverage options , as well as overnight room service and snacks and beverages, including beer/alcohol in the room , makes the room night price a great value, regardless of the property only being at about 85% of what its physical condition could be. But to be honest, it really didn't bother us based on the outstanding services and amenities. The spa and gym could have been great, but it just wasn't 100% of what it could have been. The gym has plenty of modern equipment and space, but not all of the equipment was operable, and the beautiful teek flooring is coming up from past water damage. One day they put out a fruit bowl. But not the other 4 days I worked out. The lights weren't on and I couldn't find the switches or anyone to turn them on. It wasn't completely dark because it was daytime, and some residual light came in the windows, but it was pretty dark. We got massages and they were outstanding. In my top five for sure. Unfortunately, I do not remember the 2 young ladies names that we received massages from, but it was on Friday, 2/19. However, only the Men's side was open and it was difficult to get checked in being that the massage techs had to do that as well as get us locker keys and prepare for our massages. Someone at reception to show us around and get us keys/robes/slippers etc would have been nice. The prices were on par with any top spa in the US, so we expected the full monty. No sauna, steam room, jacuzzi, lemon water, juices, snacks, slippers, lunch service or direction as to what was available to us was afforded. Just the massages, which I reiterate, were Outstanding. We relaxed in one of the open areas with waters and our books, but it could/should have been better. The beach area and pool area services and accommodations were very good. Plenty of towels, lounge chairs and beds were available. Also, the bartenders from Aquamarina came to the beach several times to offer cocktails and lunch as well as always bringing waters on ice. Carlos was personable and over delivered to us each time we were on the beach along with one other guy (I forgot his name). Carlos really stood out. The staff: First and foremost I must mention Alonzo the Food and Beverage Director. He seemed to be ever present either to greet us, to check on us and to make us feel special. We ran into him all over the property also, not just in the dining rooms. He really is a special asset to BD and should be commended. He remembered our anniversary and produced us a special dinner on our last night, although every night in Ambar felt special!!! His sidekick, Martin was also a consistent presence and did tableside desserts and also made us feel special. You have a dynamic duo in Batman and Robin!!!! They have a very seasoned and well trained staff and Roman stood out on a few occasions for us, with his tableside Margaritas and bananas foster. He is a skilled tableside performer and our service with him along with Ernesto in Ambar was seamless and spot on each night we were there. Victor at the bar made nice cocktails and had some excellent wine suggestions. The Culinary staff is outstanding and deserves much praise (Chef Adrian, Isaura, Henry are a few names and probably many others). Every presentation was better than the last and the flavors and quality of the food wasn't just very good for an "all inclusive", but for any fine dining restaurant anywhere. BRAVO Chefs!!! Team Ambar should be proud of what they are producing on a consistent basis. Aquamarina was also outstanding. Excellent selection for breakfast, and not just boring egg dishes, but a nice mix of creative dishes from America and Mexico. Something for everyone. The lunch menu also had a decent variety, including decent sushi and very good tacos. My only suggestion would be to add more indigenous dishes to the menu. Do what you do best. Tortas, Gorditas, Chuletas etc. Americans love authentic Mexican cuisine. Dagoberto really stood out here as well as Carlos the Bartender. The whole staff was always very friendly and accomodating. The poolside shows were an unexpected surprise and really quite good. Nice vibe by the pool here at night. Overall, we had a wonderful experience and the staff made our stay memorable. If the property is fully operable and the necessary repairs are made to this beautiful resort, we wouldn't hesitate to stay there again, as well as suggest it to our friends/family.

Our 1st Trip out of the country since 2019, I must say best decision we made. The Blue Diamond is the perfect place for couples looking for some good quality R&R. The beach is Private and quiet. The Pool is beautiful & views even better. The food was amazing, the staff wonderful & the service was excellent. There were so many great things about this all inclusive resort, which can be rare for all inclusive stays. My husband & I had a couples massage, again nothing short of Amazing. There were a few minor things that could've been better: 1 There wasn’t any hot water for the outdoor tubs. & The boardwalk as shown in pictures is ruined due to maybe a storm that ripped it away. The Hotel needs a little bit of maintenance/upgrading. But over all the Resort grounds are beautiful, really an island/jungle paradise and it was awesome to ride our bikes to and from Breakfast and the beach from our room. I would recommend this hotel as the hospitality was great and the food was delicious. My husband & I cant wait to go back.

The beach and the views are stunning and the grounds are heavenly, but the real gem of this resort is the Service, the Employees and the Food!! All Inclusive resorts can be hit or miss - but this one is definitely a HIT! The transfer from the Airport to the hotel was seamless with BD Experience and upon arriving (although several hours early) our room was ready. Additionally, before and during our stay the Concierge (Adela & Carmen?) were extremely helpful - we ended up having to change flights / arrival days which meant changing the entire reservation, changing our Covid test date, etc. and the Concierge handled all of the issues for us without a hitch. RESTAURANTS/FOOD/SERVICE Our first night we dined at Ambar (more upscale) where every course was beautifully plated, the presentations were exceptional, and the flavors of each each dish were delicious. On 3 separate evenings at Ambar we had tableside service of different items, oak charred wood smoke captured in a cocktail glass with tequila and Cointreau - a variation on Bananas Foster - and another dessert involving brandy and ice cream!! I mean, when was the last time you had tableside service? A bit of a lost art. Every evening we were presented with new dining options and our on our final night Lobster, Delicious! Specifically, I have to give praise to Alonzo / Martin / Ramon / Ernesto and the Kitchen Staff - their efforts to present a beautiful Dinner experience each night are what make this resort stand out. Alonzo made certain every time he saw us, whether in the restaurant or in the Lobby to ask us how we were , if there was anything we needed... he is truly a Great Manager, present and attentive. When not dining at Ambar we were at the more casual beach side Aquamarina Restaurant where there was nightly local entertainment along with great food and never ending mixed drinks/aperitifs to accompany dinner and dessert. Aquamarina is also where breakfast/lunch is served daily with many different options for each meal. Dagoberto was our waiter the majority of the time and was excellent, remembering our preferences, presenting options and providing overall attentive service. Each time we spent the day at the beach it was a great day - our Bartender Carlos was Awesome!! Carlos and his staff kept the drinks flowing - but also brought bottles of water with each new round, offered food and snacks throughout the day and made sure we were taken care of. This is a private/swimmable beach with some erosion control measures that help to keep the water a little more calm and easy to swim - thoroughly enjoyable. Also, due to the limited travel there was no problem getting beach chairs, towels or cabanas. SPA Both of the massage technicians that we had were amazing - and I don't say this lightly. My husband and I had a 'couples 80 minute deep tissue massage' and we are happy to report that these 2 ladies are EXCELLENT at what they do. GROUNDS The Resort grounds are beautiful, well kept and really an island paradise when it comes to the landscaping and it was great fun to ride our bikes to and from Breakfast and the beach or back and forth to the Gym or Spa in such beautiful surroundings. BUILDINGS/MAINTENANCE Our room was great - very spacious - with a separate bathroom / sitting area / sleeping area - large sliders to the exterior patio - really very nice. My only real critique of the Hotel is the state of disrepair that many of the buildings are in. In touring the property over a span of a week it was evident that about 90% of the water features are not functioning, from large infinity pools to small water features in the lobby of the Spa, to the individual art/landscape installations at each patio...there are a lot of areas that need to be addressed. The SPA and GYM were probably the biggest disappointment in that the disrepair combined with limited staff meant that the SPA facilities were for the most part shut down. With the Massage Techs having to run the front desk, clean the facilities, greet guests and provide massages all at the same time, it made for a somewhat funky experience with regard to the SPA in general (but not the massage, the ladies were great). There are other areas that need help as well, non functioning lighting, large Bermuda shutters/doors at the Spa lobby broken, disconnected water lines at sinks, missing umbrella fixtures over the bar, missing lighting fixtures in the lobby, ripped cabana covers...... I hate to go on and on about the physical state of the Hotel - but I feel that the owners are at a crossroads concerning this beautiful property - either commit to sinking some money into it or be prepared to lower your prices and no longer be considered a luxury hotel (which would be sad considering the food and service are top notch). Yikes, sorry I know that sounds harsh, but this Resort is just so beautiful I would hate for it to not be restored to it's full potential. Overall - definitely worth staying here, highly recommended!!

Can’t say enough good things about our stay at the Blue Diamond. This was my wife and I’s first trip to the Cancun area, and we couldn’t have picked a better place. The staff, starting with General Manager, Alonzo, was incredible. Upon arrival, we were being greeted by name and treated with the utmost courtesy. This level of care was on display from everyone from the GM, to the bartender, to the bus boys. We, admittedly, we’re not the easiest guests (requesting multiple room changes), but Alonzo and the staff were incredibly accommodating, and did everything they could to make our stay memorable. Things I loved about the hotel were the setting (like walking through a jungle the whole time), the privacy, the beach (also very private and relaxing), and the room. We stayed in the Cenote Jr. Suite which had amazing views of the lagoon. Things that could’ve been better: There wasn’t any hot water for the outdoor tubs, which effectively rendered it not usable. The pool is somewhat small and shallow... not really made for swimming as much as relaxing. Overall I thought the property could use a little TLC (all minor things). Things to consider: With only two restaurants, the dining selection was limited. That said, the food itself was delicious. Would recommend the lobster at Ambar, and the tuna for lunch at Aquamarine. The mojitos also may have been the best drink I’ve ever had. Also, room service has a charge of $20 per request. The charge is for the service, with all food included (restaurants have no fee). Pro Tip: We took a tour of the Palafitos Suites and definitely liked the Cenote Jr. Suite much more, although technically it’s a step below. The main room is bigger, bathroom is bigger, and we liked the view more. The Palafitos is closer to the beach and has a rooftop terrace, which could explain why it’s a step up, but we definitely felt like the Cenote Jr. Suite was the better room. All in all, would highly recommend. Thank you again to Alonzo, Juan, Fernando, Carlos, Giovani, Margarita, Dagoberto and all the rest for making our first trip to Cancun so memorable. Hope to be back soon!

This was my first time traveling out of the country and I can't think of a better stay. The staff were very accommodating when my itinerary had to change due to the winter storm. All of the staff were pleasant, the dining was delicious and the beach access was private and relaxing. Alonzo Avila, the manager of the hotel, and other staff were very responsive. This would be the perfect solo or couples trip.
