A good time was had!

DOUG H on Apr 08, 2024

We had a great time and the thing that made it wasn't the resort but the people. The workers were very friendly and catered to your every need/want. The bartenders at the lobby bar (I wish I could remember their names) asked our name the day we got there and remembered them and our drinks the rest of the week. Jonathan was our pool server and he was great. Easy to talk too and was always around when we needed something. Marisol was also excellent on the entertainment side. She was all smiles and fun to talk with as well. As for the resort itself, the buffet was probably the biggest downside. The omelettes at breakfast were excellent but that was about it. The preferred beach area was no different than any other since you didn't have bands or anyway to distinguish. Anyone could get drinks at the preferred beach bar. With that said, the preferred lounge had the best drinks when it comes to the drink actually tasting like it had alcohol in them. The lobby bar would be a close second. Those guys were extremely good and made very hectic moments look effortless. We didn't get to try to the French or Italian but the mexican was very good. Imho, the lunches were better at Seaside Grill and Oceana than the dinners. Japanese was good but not great. The gym was good enough to accomplish what we needed to do. The weddings didn't really bother us even though our room faced directly into the music. Since they have to shut down by 11pm it wasn't an issue for us. The large wedding parties did make it difficult to get chairs by any of the pools though. You would have to get down there by 6:30 if you wanted 4 chairs together. The rented cabanas at the infinity pool kept you from being able to see the ocean and I don't know why they would put them all the way across the front row. The rooms were very nice and our maid took good care of us on restocking drinks and turndown service. Overall all I would say a 4 out of 5, again because of the people more than anything.

Absolutely Perfect!!

520oliviap on Apr 07, 2024

We had our wedding at Dreams Riviera Cancun at the end of March, and we cannot believe how perfect our weekend turned out. Our wedding coordinator, Samuel Ramirez, was so friendly and organized, and he went above and beyond to ensure that everything was flawless for us and our guests. Our wedding looked exactly like the Pinterest photos we sent to Samuel, and everything that we asked for was provided and made even better than we expected. The food for both our welcome bonfire and our wedding itself was absolutely phenomenal (and there was SO MUCH FOOD!), and they also provided some amazing vegan options for the bride and guests who were vegan. We were able to really relax and soak in our wedding day rather than stressing about all of the details because Samuel and his team had everything so well-planned. We would also like to give a special mention to our DJ, Carlos, who played everything we wanted and had our guests dancing all night. We asked him for an emo "power hour", and he absolutely nailed it!! We also couldn't believe how attentive the staff were during our whole wedding - guests were never left with an empty drink, and everyone was so impressed with the service. Hugo and his team from Adventure Photos also did an incredible job with our photos and captured all of our favorite moments from the day. We cannot think of a single thing we would change about our wedding day - it was absolutely perfect. If you're thinking about getting married here - DO IT!! You will love it, I promise! As for the resort itself, we had the best time and couldn't believe how beautiful it is. We stayed in the honeymoon suite and had a fantastic view of the ocean and beach. We ordered room service a few times, and it arrived quickly and with a friendly face to deliver it. The beach itself is super nice and they do a really good job sweeping the seaweed, which can be heavy during March. The resort always had some sort of activity going on, and there was so much to do for us and our guests. We really enjoyed the food and the drinks - make sure to ask for a Mexican candy shot! We also loved the lobby bar, and especially Clever the bartender, who made us feel so welcome. We also loved that the resort has an infinity pool and swim-up bar. We also had the chance to dine at Himitsu for the teppanyaki, and it was awesome. They even made a special appetizer, entree, and dessert for the vegan bride and it was incredible. Thank you so much to everyone who made our wedding the best day of our lives!! We are so grateful we chose Dreams Riviera, and will definitely return many times!

Focusing on Weddings rather than other travellers

alinozzer (Biddulph, United Kingdom) on Apr 05, 2024

This is the first hotel I can’t wait to leave . The hotel is clearly focusing on weddings & therefore other travellers aren’t looked after. Some points: - the main restaurant food is poor by any standards let alone 5 star - don’t expect to get into any of the speciality restaurants without queuing & then you may be given a buzzer to wait for up to an hour simple because restaurants have a small number of seats - after being served the crab cakes in the Ocean restaurant (see photo’s) which I couldn’t eat I asked if there was anything that wasn’t delivered pre-packed for heating up - he said only the salad ! - weddings is what this hotel caters for - I was moved twice in one day to make room for weddings - there’s not enough sun loungers & umbrella’s to go round & then if there’s a wedding they are taking more away - see photo’s - I complained about being moved multiple times due to weddings & even when I asked why no response never got a response to my dissatisfaction.

Overpriced family hotel - very good on weddings

papettersen on Apr 01, 2024

The hotel can arrange weddings very well and may be a good place for families. The queues to the special restaurants are much too long. The hotel is understaffed, but the staff very good. The restaurant s are average but the Mexican restaurant was excellent. We participated in a wonderful wedding ceremony arranged by the hotel. We had a very good time but will not recommend this hotel for couples. Too few sun beds on a very nice beach.
