We were looking for a quick 5 day get away to escape the cold/snowy weather at home and relax. While researching we discovered there are some very good deals out there for trips to Mexico. We assumed to get people down there during the Covid scare. Our review is below. Pros: 1. The property is beautiful! This resort is built around a natural jungle so there are lots of different animals around. We saw coatis (mexican racoons), agoutis, monkeys (an entire family with a baby!), turtles, tucans, peacocks and more. There are a few things that could be repaired on the property but overall it was very nice. We were impressed they are keeping things so nice with not much business to support it. 2. The staff here are all very nice and helpful. Everyone smiles and says hello. They all seem eager to help. The only issues we had were with the front desk. 3. The breakfasts in the buffet were very good. This was our favorite meal of the day. They had a great selection and there was enough variety that we didn't bored with it. 4. The pool was great. A little chilly at first but once you get used to it the temp is refreshing. Especially on the hot days. It was also very clean for the most part. 5. The beach is beautiful here. Clean and well groomed. The bottom is a bit rocky in the water so you have to watch where you walk but overall very nice. 6. Our room was great. We had a main floor oceanfront room. Our terrace opened up right on the beach. We were also very close to the pool, snack bar, pool bar and more. 7. It was very convenient to be able to schedule a Covid test for right there at the resort. We were required to have one in order to return to the US. Cons: 1. We always forget between trips to Mexico how slow the pace is there. No one seems to be in a hurry to do anything! We heard several times "just have a drink and wait an hour or two". When we have a short trip the last thing we want to do is wait on someone else. Check in took a long time as did anything we needed from the front desk. They could definitely improve their concierge and front desk service! We wasted way too much time waiting. 2. The covid testing process was a bit of a joke. They scheduled 20+ people for the same time rather than spreading them all out. Then they had no way to decide the order to call people in for their test. It was chaotic for sure. 3. I assume it was because of Covid but there was very limited availability of the ala carte restaurants. We arrived on Thursday and were told then that we couldn't get into a restaurant until SUNDAY! After we "discussed" this for a while they decided they could get us in on Friday at 6:30 but they didn't know which restaurant yet. They would drop the reservation form off in our room on Friday morning. That did not happen, we had to call to track down the info. No follow through from the front desk at all. 4. Other than breakfast the food was just ok. The one nice dinner we had was the Mexican restaurant. Personally we did not care for the food here. That could be a taste issue. We were not able to eat any of the other restaurants so we can't comment on them. The buffet for lunch and dinner was ok. It was pretty much the same thing every day/night so that did get old. But we did think they did a good job considering there weren't many people at the hotel. 5. The A/C and hot water in the room weren't consistent. Although it was cool enough in the evenings that we slept well. I think the A/C shuts off when you aren't in the room (motion sensor). Having said all this we would consider going back. Overall we liked the resort very much.

My husband booked this resort and trip for our first anniversary. I’ve been to one other all inclusive resort and have been on many cruises. The pros: 1. The staff was amazing. They went out of their way to make us feel special and were so kind. Liz at the front desk was great!! 2. The location and grounds were spectacular. I loved the jungle feel along with the beach. It was also fun to experience all the animals. 3. The pools were beautiful and the ice cream bar near the pool was awesome! 4. The entertainers were so talented and I especially enjoyed the guitar/singer in the lounge. He was only there one night during the week but I would have loved to hear him a lot more. 5. The golf cart rides to the lobby, etc., was a great service, and they were Johnny on the spot! 6. The breakfast buffet was so good, especially the omelets and the pastries! I don’t want to see the scale when I get home. 7. The room was lovely and the ocean balcony view was like in a dream! The maids were exceptional. The room was cleaned to perfection every day with cute towel animals on the bed. 8. The spa experience was lovely and the gal that worked on me was the best! 9. The Pier 27 gift shop was nice. I would have liked to have seen a couple more in this type of resort. The not so pros: 1. I was disappointed in the food overall. I enjoyed the breakfast buffet, but the lunch buffet and the lack of restaurant choices was disappointing. It was difficult to get a reservation in the specialty places, and when we did, the food was similar to what was being served on the buffet. There was also lack of decor which makes this kind of experience special. A lot of the food choices were hit and miss. Some items were delicious but there was a lot that could have been better. The Mexican restaurant menu was my favorite. 2. As I had mentioned, the entertainers were so talented, but the sets and staging was very high school. 3. The room could have used more hangers and more pillows were needed on the king bed. 4. There was a lack of English speaking TV stations. 5. We chose to accept the invitation to hear about the club membership. The staff was very nice, but it ended up taking a lot more time than promised. 6. Pina Coladas are my favorite drink, and these were really a miss here. However, the rum punch and mojitos were good. Overall, the week was very special, and the folks at Iberostar made it even more so.

The beach is amazing and very well maintain. The staff was great, can’t say enough about the level of service from housekeeping to wait staff! Jamie with the prestige club was very helpful and friendly! The resort did a very good job with COVID protocols testing on site to get us back to the USA. The fire show on the beach was amazing...don’t miss that. The hibachi grill was a favorite along with the steak house and Italian restaurants. Wildlife was observed on our deck including Howler monkeys and peacocks. There was a dinner for club guests the featured an amazing dessert designed and made at our table. The only issue that arose was with our group of four, all, at one time during our stay developed some type of stomach issue..we were unable to determine the cause.

Wow! Its the people who make this place great. Jorge went beyond any expectation to make it perfect. Thank you. Janire literally ran to get a golf cart to get us a ride. Liz at the front was always so sweet and attentive. Jose was such a considerate waiter. We could go on if we simply remembered every name because every person who works there was perfect. Always kind, helpful, cheerful, energetic and smiling. Ok, the beds are a bit firm but with just enough of a mattress topper cushion we got a good sleep. The rooms were impeccably clean. Almost a problem. They recently touched up the paint on a shelf and some got onto a few of our clothes. They could not have been more apologetic. They cleaned them and all was well. We had an ocean view. This is the room to have. Its a hike to the restaurants but they can't pick you up in a golf cart quick enough. With covid, the occupancy is still low so not all restaurants are open all the time. We were able to get ala carte all but one night. Food could be better. Some things are great, some things are just OK. The alcohol is better than most all inclusive a bit. House wine is pretty decent and that is hard to say in the Caribbean. The grounds are not manicured perfection. I love the natural look. Don't worry, you won't step on any stickers when you step on the grass. Its not a golf course look but its not a scary jungle. Its a beautiful mix of nature meets the beach. The entertainment has a high school prom feel, but its fun and has its high points. Our honeymoon was in Rio at carnival. This was a romantic and comfortable time for us to refresh and renew our vows. We did this beside the sea. On site photographer, Christopher, did such a great job. The excursion folks on-site took good care to make up for a weather related cancelation. The ladies at the spa made my bride feel like she was in a trance all day and the one who worked on me took care of a knot in my calf that nobody else has ever done. This is not a high end or expensive resort but we had a fine experience.

The hotel staff was really nice, as soon as we arrived they had our luggage sanitize and hand sanitizer available, temperature checked, they offered drinks, we met with our concierge, our check in was fast (15minutes) and then we went straight to the buffet area to eat lunch, after lunch a golf cart transferred us to our rooms ( AC on ) clean, fresh smelling linens, we had a balcony pretty close to the pool, short walk to the beach and to the main restaurants, the hotel makes you feel you are in the middle of the jungle, peacocks ?? small friendly animals ( forgot their names) Tucán, Flamingos ?? giant tortoise ?? holler monkeys ?? roaming freely, my toddler was amazed, we really enjoyed nature, activities were nice, basketball ?? volleyball at the beach, kayaking, kids activities (daycare) the kids pool area was closed at this time, but my baby had fun playing at the beach or at the pool with us, food was available all the time ( snack bar or buffet area) food was good, will recommend an international theme every night at the buffet because it was hard to make reservations for the other restaurants, we only ate at one restaurant previous reservations made ( Mexican restaurant) it was really good, portion size and presentation, staff was really nice and attentive at all times. I wish I had made reservations for the Mediterranean, Japanese, Italian or steak house but they were all full ?? buffet was good ?? They had shows at the theater every night it was really fun, performers were great and entertaining. Cocktails ?? were good and free ?? this is all inclusive hotel. We had clean towels everyday, room service was great, cold drinks in the mini fridge, every time I called for a golf cart ride they were within 5 minutes at the door. beach wasn’t crowded, always found empty lounge chairs to rest by the beach ?? there was no people so we had plenty social distance, pool is big and has an area were kids can play the rest is 5’ deep well maintained, no mosquitos in this season is a plus. Also not many people at the pool ( they are only at 50% capacity right now, but seemed like there was less people than that) hotel is huge. Front desk staff was nice, covid test is included for all USA visitors ( USA requires it to re-enter the country) we had the test (nasal swab) done at 6pm results were ready at 8pm Check out was fast ( 2 minutes) our suitcases were waiting on the front lobby and we had time to go eat lunch at the buffet after checking out. We had an amazing time at the hotel, definitely will recommend to friends and family.
