A trip for the books.

The hotel is good, the service is awesome! The food could have been a bit better for the price of the establishment, but none the less it was still good. The restaurants that I liked the most where the stake house and the seafood restaurant. For the stake house you will want to arrive early, around opening to guarantee a seat if you are not a member. A lot to do and see on the resort. A couple members Jack and Tzir deserve high praise when it comes to top notch service and making you feel like family when you arrive and all throughout your stay. They know the ins and outs of the business and will help you with everything they have. If you make it to this hotel go look for Jack and Tzir with anything you need! For me they made the trip exceptional! “It’s not what you know, it’s who you know”

Love this resort! The staff were so friendly and accommodating. This jungle like property has deer, monkeys, iguanas, peacocks, etc... Love the traditional decor. Has a nice variety of restaurants. The Italian and Seafood restaurants were my favorite. Also, absolutely loved their tacos and pizza!!!

The service was mediocre the food was terrible and the only reason I would ever come back there is because of the location we had a party of nine and we all feel the same. Really need improvement on the food quality and alcohol selection. Buyer beware there are no restaurants nearby the resort.
Low budget boring 3-star hotel...

One of the worst hotel we've visited. When we comparing to other Cancun area hotels for price/value I got the following score: Room - 2 out of 5. Service - 1 out of 5. Food - 1 out of 5. Beach/Pool - 1 out of 5. Cleanliness - 2 out of 5. Entertainment - 1 out of 5. When you entering the resort, it's pretty beautiful, but we were so disappointed with the experience we got at Occidental Xcaret. The positive is a keyless wristband room access, walk along the river and not a bad room as for a 3-star hotel and that's probably it... Check in was fine, but our stay started with not working room lock. Then we went to the pool, but no towels were available at 4pm - first time ever experience! Later we found out that it is normal for Occidental Xcaret not having towels or being closed during the day. By the way, there is not a single umbrella available, only for members at members only pools. The chairs are old cheap worn plastic. Had issues with wifi connection. The hotel is short staffed. Some areas are not cleaned. Very boring, no activities, only DJ every night. Poor low quality food. Breakfast and Lunch served at the buffet. The good is an oceanview and acceptable variety of fruits. The rest of the food is just the cheapest options available. Not even an apple juice available. And a special request needed for a french fries, which was brought cold most of the times. The restaurants are the same buffet quality food. Here are some examples: In Italian restaurant the Arugula Salad has not a single arugula leave! Caprese salad made without mozzarella! At stake house Greek Salad has no feta! Very poor covid precautions. When entering the restaurants no one sprays sanitizer on your hands. Pants are required to dine in, very inconvenient when you are on vacation, especially for such low quality restaurants... There is no Coffe Shop with espresso/cakes like most of the other resorts have, but you can PURCHASE Nespresso starting from $3 at the All-inclusive resort, really? 3 people from our family are drinking coffee 3 times/day, so for double espresso we have to spend $35/day! Beach? - It's a tiny puddle. The Occidental Xcaret has potential, but right now is a terrible option. At this price level you can stay at way better places such Fiesta America or Hard Rock.

Our trip was fabulous. We loved the flora and fauna and the sense of living in the jungle. Everything was 5 star except the rooms which were dated, particularly the bathrooms. We were in the Royal Club with a 1 bedroom unit on the 3rd floor. If you are capable of walking steps, request the 3rd floor which had 2 unobstructed views to the ocean. Magnificent!!
