My wife and I stayed at the Valentin from Feb 18-Feb 22, and couldn't have been more pleased. We've been married for almost 14 years, have traveled all over the world, and this was, hands down, the best resort experience we've had yet. From the start... Check in was smooth and painless. It seems a little arduous when you just want to get to the pool, but they are very meticulous in their process. Lobby was very comfortable, and the drinks never stopped. Very smooth process. We were slightly concerned about the size of the resort (and the need for golf carts) but we found it extremely walkable. From the lobby and plaza to building 6 was less then a 5 minute walk. Very enjoyable. The rooms were well appointed and comfortable. We stayed in a Golden Jr. Swimout. Amazing. Bed was comfortable, nice size room with two television sets, nice sitting area, and a well-appointed resort caliber bathroom. The patio area (adjacent to the pool) was clean and comfortable. It was swept off/cleaned daily, and the lounge covers were changed every-other day. There is also a thrice-daily housekeeping service. Absolutely impeccable. The Golden Pool area is a real gem. It is quiet, and a great way to spend the day relaxing with new friends (we made lots). Poolside service was phenomenal. You never waited for a drink. The main pool (went over there one day) was a great time as well. One end is much more of a "party vibe" with live music, a DJ, and lots of great activities. The other end, where we were, was quite and relaxing. Just a great overall atmosphere for whatever you were feeling that day. The food was some of the very best we've had. All the restaurants served wonderful meals. I can honestly say I didn't have a bad one the entire time. The food quality and service rivaled, in my opinion, other places we frequent such as Ruth's Chris, McCormick & Schmick, Morton's ect. Absolute 5 star experience. Evening entertainment on the Plaza was a wonderful time. Live bands, DJ during the breaks and afterwards, and a wait staff THAT LITERALLY RUNS to get you more drinks. If you want to dance, yup, it's your scene. Want to just chat quietly and enjoy the weather? Yup, that too. Cigars? It's your jam. Which brings me to the last point... The staff. I literally can't say enough about the staff. They are what make this place so special. They work hard, and seem to genuinely enjoy their jobs. Everyone, right down to the groundskeepers, smile and say hello. We tipped generously, and I would encourage you to do the same. I just can't say enough how wonderful they all were. Final analysis: We are in our late 30's to 40. We met a ton of other couples the same age, made friends quickly, and had a wonderful time with them. If you are looking for a Panama City foam party, this might not be your scene. But if you want to leave the kids at home, go lay in the sun, make a few friends of similar ages and interests, and still tie one on with Don Julio shots, this is your place. We are already planning our return. Would rate 6 out of 5 stars if possible.

This was my 8th visit in 6 years. My girlfriend and I are "essential employees" so during the Epidemic, we worked our butts off, and just needed to get away. The resort went over and above to make everyone safe, without sacrificing the comforts we love. That being said, I really missed the lunch buffet. There were a few people that really stood out this trip. Luis and Naomi at Le Marche. Luis was super nice, and joking around (which we love). Naomi was one of the managers. She stopped by and asked if she could speak to us about how we thought they were doing with everything going on, she recognized me from my multiple stays. You can tell when talking to her, she loves her job, and her employer, she is always a delight! Mar Tierra houses two of my favorite waiters, Darvelio, and Samuel. Our drinks never went empty, and the smiles never left our faces. No trip is complete without seeing my favorite bartender, Veronica. If you have never been, ask where she is, and go have a few drinks with her. Tell her to surprise you with a drink, you won't be disappointed! We are returning two more times in 2021, so I will add new reviews if things have changed. If you have never been to the Valentin, take the gamble. It's the perfect resort. If you want to just be lazy, and enjoy the quiet, there are spots for that. If you want to party it up a little more, head over to main pool and you can usually find a group to join in some festivities. Nightlife is the same way. There are spots to relax and just enjoy your company, or hit the dance floor with DJ Jerry and tear it up. Never be shy here. Talk to everyone! I have made so many friends from all over the US that I still stay in touch with, just from stopping and asking what drink they were drinking cause it looked good!

This was the best vacation my wife and I have been on! The grounds are meticulously manicured and incredibly gorgeous. The food is spectacular and the restaurants are spotless. The attention to detail regards to sanitization and cleanliness is apparent. The pool area is clean and well maintained. The staff is genuine and friendly, which in our opinion is the reason this resort is so enjoyable. Our room was clean, updated and comfortable. We had our Covid test 3 days prior to departure and it went seamlessly. The technician was friendly and well prepared. When you visit make sure you have Manuel Angel make you a crepe at the morning buffet, he is the best! Luis at the French restaurant is another star when it comes to service amongst the staff. Lastly we need to mention Vero at the pool bar. Vero is such a hard worker and was so friendly to my wife and I, we will miss seeing Vero's happy face every day now that we are home in the cold Wisconsin weather. Please do not hesitate to book a trip at the Valentin Imperial Riviera Maya, it is a once in a lifetime trip!

We stayed here January 17-22, 2021. The check-in process was comfortable and accommodating in regards to upgrading our room and having rooms next to our friends. Alfredo greeted us every time we entered the resort. He is a wonderful source of information and services. He arranged for a taxi to take us to the local mall to purchase long pants for my husband and to have the pants hemmed to my husband's height at the resort. Our room was in building 8, on the 3rd floor. We had a beautiful view of the private pool for buildings 7 and 8, the forrest, (both from our balcony) and the ocean (from the walkway to the entrance of our room). The location of our room was central to the main pool, the beach, and restaurants/lobby. There were plenty of golf carts moving about the resort to transport you to wherever you wanted to go. All you had to do is wait in front of your building or start walking in the direction of your destination. All of the drivers were knowledgeable of the resort, very friendly, and extremely accommodating. We enjoyed dinner and breakfast twice at Mar y Tierra. Arturo remembered us and our food allergies. He served us thin sliced octopus, diced tuna, grilled provelta cheese, coconut shrimp, swordfish, filet mignon, chocolate brownie, caramelized apple, warm chocolate coolant, and cheesecake with strawberries for dinner. We recommend all of these dishes. Teresa, Darvelio, and Omar served us breakfast where we enjoyed waffles, fruit plates, and huevos rancheros. The night we went to La Hacienda for dinner Miguel was our server and we enjoyed chaya & spinach salad, huitacoche & corn cream soup, and chipotle shrimp with huitacoche rice for my entree. The private pool by our room had a wonderful sever named Magdalay. She was regular with her rounds providing delicious frozen drinks and a menu for lunch. We enjoyed the ceviche (shrimp, scallop & octopus), grilled chicken and smoked salmon salads, plus nachos! The night we went to L'Olivio we had Luis and Victoriano as our servers. We devoured the minestrone soup, Cesar salads, pizza quarto fromaggi, chicken breast stuffed with mascarpone cheese, tiramisu, and chocolate mouse. The night we dined at L'Alsace our server was Jesus. I savored the lobster & shrimp bisque soup, crusted salmon filet, and the creme brûlée. There are several bars throughout the resort that we patronized. Our favorite bartenders were Hugo at the main pool bar and Diego at the Sports Bar (great service and conversation). They took excellent care of the guys in our group. They never waited long for a fresh beer.

A wonderful, adult only resort nestled in the Riviera Maya, the Valentine was an incredible experience with service that rivals any I've had traveling abroad. From private concierge services to personal cabana's on the beach, we experience a full level of pampering that made me forget I had a normal life to return to. One thing I was worried about was that we were still amid the COVID pandemic when it was time to travel down so I was concerned by the quality of experience I would have due to precautionary restrictions that may be in place. Happy to say that despite the restrictions, the resort still exceeded my expectations. They were only operating at a 25% guest occupancy but surprisingly I felt like it made for a more enjoyable experience. There were moments I felt like I was at an abandoned resort but when it came to the pool, beach, and restaurants, it was nice not to be shoulder to shoulder with a thousand people everywhere I went. All facilities were still open except for the gastro pub and buffet but the restaurant rotation was fantastic and they still grilled lunch and snack alongside the pool throughout the afternoon. The only downside if there was one was not being able to have immediate access to food anytime I was hungry. That was something I really enjoy about resorts and cruises. The service was bar none and the attentiveness of the staff was amazing. "It's my pleasure sir" is something you'll get used to hearing down there as every request you make is prompt. Bring plenty of money to tip because they earn every dollar of it! The restaurant food was of exceptional quality though I found the lunch and breakfast to be even better. There is one restaurant, however, that I will advise people to avoid and that's Ginger the Japanese Restaurant. All the food they make is just drenched in thick teriyaki sauce and does not resemble anything of true Asian cuisine. The Mexican and French restaurants were by far the best with the Italian one right behind them. There were a lot of fun activities to do while on the resort including guacamole lessons and tequila tastings. "GO!", the activity company that hosts all the entertainment on the resort does a fantastic job and their employees are fun, engaging, and bring the resort experience to another level. The Imperial Band that plays on Fridays and Saturdays is AMAZING and definitely worth catching while you're there. So I've been praising this resort up and down, you're probably wondering why I didn't leave a full 5 star review and that's for a couple reasons. 1. The lobster there is awful. We had the privilege package which allows us to each have a free lobster tail (normally a $50USD charge) at dinner at any specialty restaurant. We ordered Lobster 5 times while we were there and only once was it cooked well. Every other time it was so overcooked it was almost inedible. I let it go as it came in my package but if I paid $50 for that I would've been very upset. 2. We spent over $300 on a couples massage. My wife had a wonderful experience and couldn't praise it enough, however, my experience was absolutely horrible. They literally rubbed oil on my and that was it. No pressure whatsoever and I actually left with a headache and feeling worse than when it started. So just know the massage can be very hit or miss. All and all this resort is worth every penny and you won't be disappointed staying here. Highly recommend and can't wait to come back post COVID to see what the resort fully has to offer.
