    Expectations Met - Lovely Vacation

My husband and I spent an excellent week at Serenity the first week in March. We did a lot of research before booking and had high expectations given the other reviews and the money we spent. Expectations met! One of the best parts about this resort is its location - we had a 10 minute ride from the airport. We splurged on the Grande Villa - a pool, gazebo, living room, and more than enough space for the two of us. Our Butler Anais was lovely and friendly - he gave us our privacy but was always responsive. The bar is so much fun - we got to know Lee, Donna, and others. All of the servers are friendly and drinks were fantastic. The pool area is wonderful - nice cabanas, in pool lounge chairs, and great music at the right level. The food at Serenity is wonderful. Each meal we had was fresh, delicious, and with lovely presentation. One of the risks I feared in staying at an "all inclusive" is getting tired with the food. This never happened over the course of a week. I really feel like we got our money's worth with the food, drinks and accommodations. The only downside for me the entire week was getting bit by a bunch of bugs (flies, mosquitoes, who knows). These left welts all over my arms and chest. BUY AND USE DEET while you are at this resort if you are someone like me who seems to attract bites. The "botanical" spray I packed in my luggage did not do the trick. You need the heavy, military grade Deet for the bugs on St. Lucia.

five star all inclusive adults only resort five minutes from the airport, we stayed in a grand butler suite which has all the amenities you would expect at this level of comfort, staff excellent, location idyllic, quiet and peaceful most of the time, occasional live music in the evening which can be loud if you are eating outside, menu sufficiently varied for a weeks stay but does not have all the ingredients I would have expected, local food night was disappointing, ox-tail, lamb curry and jerk chicken not really what I bought into as there was no other choice and table wine not the best. You can eat at the attached Coconut Bay resort if you want to but it is more mass market, to be scrupulously fair we have been to a few all inclusive five star Caribbean resorts and Serenity is top of the list on nearly all counts so don't be put off by my little niggles. Serenity also has a room package which has local trips, massage, special nights for couples all organised by your Butler which worked very well. Couple of big pluses, airport to hotel only five minutes, and after last day check out you have use of all the amenities, food and drink plus a dedicated impressive shower changing facility and bag storage which makes a huge difference to your comfort before heading for the airport.

We visited Serenity as two couples for ten days at the end of Febuary, 2019. Transfer This has got to be one of the shortest and most convenient transfers from the airport to resort in the Caribbean. Don't let the proximity of the runway put you off. The departing aircraft are very few and far between and even become familiar punctuation marks in you day. You really don't hear or see arrivals. Beach The beach is on the Atlantic Coast and the next stop east is Africa, so the waves have some power and the trade winds blow all day. At present the resort is coping with a lot of seaweed that is carried in by the waves and wind from far out at sea. This means that in the early morning you will find seaweed piled up at the high water mark. Very quickly a team from the hotel with large machinery appear and start to remove it. It is piled up away from the beach and given to local farmers to use as fertiliser. The team keep at it all day and the beach is left pretty clean, with some tyre marks that are soon washed away. The water is safe and comfortable to swim in but is not good for snorkelling unless it has been very calm for several days. In the time we were at the resort it was not possible to use the Standup Paddle Boards or Kayaks due to the wind, but the Kite Surfers had a lot of fun. We took our own snorkelling gear and arranged 2 trips to reefs (near Sugar Beach and Anse Chastenet). Mystic Man Tours picked us up at Laborie (15 mins taxi drive) and Thomas and Jonathan provided a truly amazing day. Book a Cabana on the beach, get there early and you will have a lovely time relaxing. The beach bar is close by and your Butler will bring a cooler of drinks and lunch when you want it. We loved our day at the beach. Special mention to Gina, a beach security guard, who finding me waiting at the beach bar for service ( the bartender away refilling stocks) explained the delay and then stepped in to find our drinks for us. Rooms We had one of the smaller plunge suites but this was really luxurious and although the pool is cool (it is not heated) it's a great way to freshen up during the heat of the day. The room was very comfortable and well equipped with A/C, a ceiling fan, shower and deep bath. The bath is in the main room whilst the shower is in glass enclosure. There is no shower head in the bath. This will be to protect the rest of the room from water, but means that washing your hair is best done in the shower. The bed is very comfortable and has plenty of pillows and cushions. Outside you have a bar area with well stocked outside fridge and table and two chairs, two sun loungers and a large hammock. The area is totally private and food/drink can be delivered via a privacy hatch to allow you complete peace and quiet. Thank you to Rosey, Marcia and Chewem who looked after our suites with cleaning and turn down service. Grounds The grounds are tidy and well maintained with good pathways from the suites to the main parts of the hotel. The pool is shallow and has loungers in the water either side. It is narrow but as most people only use it to cool down rather than to swim lengths it is rarely crowded. There are plenty of sun loungers beneath umbrellas and we always found one to use. There are also six cabanas by the pool with a fan, large day bed and table; depending on location they either get the sun in the early morning or later afternoon. In the ten days that we stayed at Serenity the only way to be sure to have a cabana was to get up early, very early in some cases as they cannot be reserved and are strictly first come first served. At 5am you will have your choice, by 6am you may find one free by 7am you should stay in bed: you are too late! There is music playing from speakers in the trees around the pool, sometimes this clashes with the different music played outside on the restaurant balcony and can be a little discordant. Bar Near the pool is the bar with four large TVs playing a mixture of sports and music videos. The bar staff Lee (The Maestro), Ray and Daisy will make your drinks and are very happy to tailor them to your personal tastes using good quality spirits. Various other members of the waiting team patrol to pool area and will bring you drinks on request. Food The food is excellent and Chef Roy will find you during your stay to ask if there is any special request or dietary need. As many others posts have mentioned the menu is the same every day, with two daily changing specials in the evening. Breakfast is both table or self service with no problem in making changes or variations to what you would like. Shrimp Cake Benedict was my favourite. The lunch menu was varied and the dishes are smaller and lighter. Try the Poached shrimp to start and then Piton Beer Battered fish and chips. In the evening my recommendation would be to have one of the specials of the day, especially if it is a fish dish as these are cooked perfectly and sourced locally. But there is plenty on the menu if the special does not appeal. If you have dietary requirements or don't eat certain foods then I suggest talking to the resort ahead of your visit. (One suggestion for improvement would be to include a further option for other courses). Desserts are perhaps the weakest area of the menu, this could be due to the climate. The are ok but not to the same high standard as the rest of the menu. During a ten day visit our party of four enjoyed every meal at the Great House and although we knew we could eat in the nearby Coconut Bay restaurants the quality of the food meant we stayed at Serenity. The other thing that made all these meals so enjoyable was the wonderful staff: Titi, Levi, Tyler, Hannah, Cathy, Claire, Genil, Merista, Chard, Linus, Alana, Natoya, Vianna they all had a great attitude and made you feel so welcome. Butlers The butlers are a little more relaxed than in other resorts, and I think this is a good thing, it does not detract from their role but puts the guests more at ease. They are able to arrange most things for you, all of the elements to the Grand Romance Package, excursions, special birthday meals and flowers, surprise flower filled baths on your return from a day trip. Many thanks to Arshan, Des, Yannick, Gregg, Arden and Angus who looked after our party. The butlers work in teams of three, depending on your schedule you may only see two of them, but the other will be working in the background or on leave. Grand Romance Package. If this is available to you then take it. It adds some valuable extras to your stay: Island tour to Mudbaths, Botanical Gardens,Waterfall Swimming and the Old lighthouse. Push hard to get Amos as your guide - he was exceptional. Mudbaths. This is a once in a lifetime experience and the best way to enjoy it is to jump right in and don't worry about looking foolish. Make sure you are wearing older clothing so you won't worry about it. Go with your partner, or a friend and have fun getting muddy. Waterfall swimming. A short sharp cold dip under a waterfall, great fun for a few minutes and a great way to remove any mud you missed earlier in the tour. There are changing rooms so you can travel back to the hotel dry. Botanical Garden. A worthwhile visit even if you are not a plant nut, but gardeners and plant lovers will find it very interesting. Amos had a great knowledge of the plants but if your driver is not as knowledgable you can hire independent guides at the gate. Lighthouse. The lighthouse is a ruin and sits alongside a modern radar site, but the views over the airport, resort and far away up to the Pitons make it an interesting detour on the way out or way back to the hotel. Beach Cabana as mentioned above - these are great for a day at the beach and the water is safe to swim in. Drinks are provided and lunch will be delivered. There is no hectoring by vendors and the view across the water and small island is lovely. Evening Dining in Pool Cabana Dinner served in the cabana whilst lying on the day bed, lots of flowers and ceremony accompanies the meal served by one of your butler team. Top tip ditch the day bed and ask them to set in a proper table if you don't like eating lying down. Massage in room. Book early in your trip as the Spa staff can get booked up well in advance. Overall Impression. This is an excellent hotel that has friendly, helpful staff who do everything they can to make your holiday enjoyable. The rooms are superb and you can be as private as you like. The food is great quality but expect the menu to stay the same, just go for the specials every night. You will see Michael Smith the manager throughout your visit, he is always visible and interested in the guests experiences. We all really enjoyed our stay at Serenity and on St Lucia (David, Heather, Jane & Erik). Recommendation. Be aware of the situation with the beach before you travel, but with that in mind this small hotel is definitely worth a visit.

Just returned from a 10 day trip to Serenity at Coconut Bay with my husband and sister. From the moment we stepped off the plane the Serenity experience was amazing. Nothing was too much trouble. The rooms are fantastic, spacious and each one different. The staff were exceptional and that goes from the management to the gardeners and maids who went out of their way to please you. The gardeners would bring you fresh coconuts and the maids would leave little messages on your towels which were designed into animals on our bed every evening. The food and drinks are exceptional. They do not change the menu but do have 2 daily specials every day. You can also use the facilities at Coconut Bay across the road and we had great meals at Silk and Seaside. Thanks to Felicia at Silk and Verna in Seaside. Coconut Bay is a hotel with children so the ambience is quite different but it was sometimes nice to have a bit of a change. We had a day trip out and Marvin our taxi driver was amazing. At Serenity Bay, Michael the manager runs a fantastic hotel and it was lovely to meet his wife Amy whilst we were there. Special thanks at Serenity goes to Daisy, Lee, Delon, Kay and Donna in the bar. In the restaurant amazing service from Linus, Titi (who made us laugh every day), Hannah, Kathy (who greeted us every day), Sadie, Tyler, Ginel, Chard (Eddie Murphy lookalike) and Tessy. To our butlers who went over and above their duties every day, Anaise, Angus and Nerissa. To the chefs Roy and Tracy especially Roy who arranged for us to have a chateaubriand on my birthday . To Akim the gardener and the maids, Rosie, Marcia, Maryann and Voniah. Everyone has a smile on their face here, would love to go back again soon.

If silence is golden, serenity is worth millions. Everything about Serenity was perfect, and I wouldn't hesitate to go again in a second. For comparison, I also looked exceptionally closely at Jade Mountain, Rendezvous, and the Sandals properties. Serenity won out for location (10mins from airport vs hour), atlantic side of the island (yes, it's windy, but that also means its not hot and steamy), and overall condition (it's 18ish months old). It starts with arrival... it's exactly as billed: serene, happy, and private. Spent the money on a grand plunge pool room. Having the private plunge pool is a MIUST. The extra money for the soaking tub and the TV that comes up from the foot of the bed was worth it. The butler amenity is amazing. If you get Yannic, you will be thrilled. I've done a few all-inclusive before and always walked away disappointed with the food. Drinks are easy, and anyone can do them. Serenity does them great. But the food set them above. Travelers I talked to from other resorts were disappointed in their food. The sweetie and I were not. Lap pool is wonderful. The entire staff is warm and friendly and helpful. If it isn't right, they will work to get it there. Bottom line, if you're considering a Caribbean all-inclusive and have decided on St Lucia, BOOK SERENITY NOW. To Michael S and the Staff, and especially Yannic, THANK YOU so much for so very much in making our vacation / holiday / honeymoon PERFECT. And for defining what Serenity is.
