Clive J. Beddoe

WestJet board of directors member Clive Beddoe

Clive Beddoe is a founding shareholder and Chairman of the Board of Directors of WestJet. In September 2007, Clive was appointed WestJet Chairman having previously held the roles of President and Chief Executive Officer. Clive has been instrumental in making WestJet one of the most successful airlines in recent aviation history.

Clive's keen business acumen has shaped the development of WestJet's corporate culture, executive team and strategy. A true entrepreneur, Clive's strong background in financial planning and strategic management was gained through several successful real estate and plastics enterprises.

In 2000, Clive and his fellow WestJet founders received the Worldwide Award for Teamwork at the World Entrepreneur of the Year celebrations. In 2001, he received the Pinnacle Award, and in that same year, WestJet was awarded the "Business Ethics" award from the Better Business Bureau of Southern Alberta. In 2002 and 2003, WestJet was named one of Canada's most respected companies, and in 2003, WestJet received the Most Respected Corporation title for Innovative Practices from Alberta Venture Magazine. In 2004, Clive received the prestigious Canadian Business Leader Award from the University of Alberta Faculty of Business and the Business Advisory Council.

Clive has been the recipient of honorary degrees from the University of Calgary and Wilfrid Laurier University and was appointed the 2010/2011 Jarislowsky Resident Fellow in Business Management at the Haskayne School of Business at the University of Calgary.

Clive is a resident of Calgary, having immigrated to Canada from England in 1970. Married with two children, Clive is a private pilot licensed to fly numerous types of aircraft. It was through this keen interest in aviation that spurred the formation of WestJet.

Hugh Bolton
Edmonton (Alberta)

Mr. Bolton is a Chartered Accountant and Fellow of the Alberta Institute of Chartered Accountants, and the former Chairman, CEO and partner in Coopers & Lybrand Canada, Chartered Accountants.

Mr. Bolton is currently the non-executive Chair of EPCOR Utilities Inc. and is also a former board member of the Canadian National Railway Company, Teck Resources Limited., TD Bank Financial Group, and Capital Power Corporation.

Mr. Bolton received his Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the University of Alberta. In 2006, he was made a fellow of the Institute of Corporate Directors (Canada).

Mr. Bolton joined WestJet's Board of Directors in August 2005.

Ron Brenneman
Calgary (Alberta)

WestJet board of directors member Ron Brenneman

Mr. Brenneman is the former President and Chief Executive Officer of Petro-Canada. Prior to joining Petro-Canada in 2000, he spent more than 30 years with Imperial Oil Ltd. and its parent company Exxon Corporation. Until February 15, 2010, he served as the Executive Vice-Chairman of Suncor Energy Inc.

Ron has a Bachelor of Applied Science degree in chemical engineering from the University of Toronto and a Master of Science in control systems from the University of Manchester. Ron currently serves on the boards of Scotiabank and BCE Inc.

Mr. Brenneman joined WestJet's Board of Directors in September 2009.

Christopher Burley
Calgary (Alberta)

WestJet board of directors member Christopher Burley

Christopher Burley is a Director of Potash Corporation of Saskatchewan where he is Chair of the Audit Committee and is the former Non-Executive Chairman of Parallel Energy Inc., a publicly traded oil and gas mutual fund trust. He spent over two decades in the investment banking industry and was Managing Director and Vice Chairman, Energy at Merrill Lynch before his retirement in 2008.

Mr. Burley has a Bachelor of Science degree with a certificate of Honours Standing (Geophysics) and a Masters of Business Administration degree from the University of Western Ontario. He is a graduate of the Institute of Corporate Directors Education Program and holds the ICD.D designation.

Mr. Burley joined WestJet's Board of Directors in September 2015.

Antonio Faiola
Calgary (Alberta)

WestJet board of directors member Antonio Faiola

Antonio Faiola joined WestJet in April 2002 as a flight attendant.

He has been an active member of WestJet's Pro-Active Communications Team (PACT), WestJet's employee representation, through the Flight Attendant Association Board since 2003. In 2008, Antonio moved into the role of FAAB Vice-Chair before being elected as FAAB Chair in 2009. Antonio was elected PACT Chairman in November 2011 and joined the Board of Directors shortly after as WestJet’s PACT representative.

Originally from Ville LaSalle, Quebec, Antonio is a graduate of Concordia University, holding a Bachelor of Commerce and Masters in Sports Administration. Antonio is actively involved in speed skating, providing event management and communications support in the last two winter Olympic games.

Brett Godfrey
Brisbane (Australia)

WestJet board of directors member Brett Godfrey

Mr. Godfrey is the co-founder and former CEO of Virgin Blue Airlines in Australia. In the early ‘90s, Mr. Godfrey began his Virgin career as Finance Manager for Virgin Atlantic. He was Financial Controller for Sherrard/National Jet in Melbourne, and worked as a Chartered Accountant with Touche Ross in the firm's Canadian office.

Brett is a board member of the Auckland International Airport, Tourism Australia and Australia’s national tourism marketing agency. Mr. Godfrey holds a business degree from Victoria University in Melbourne, Australia and is an award winning leader.

Mr. Godfrey joined WestJet's Board of Directors in August 2006.

Allan Jackson

WestJet board of directors member Allan Jackson

Mr. Jackson is currently the President and Chief Executive Officer of Arci Ltd., a real estate investment company, and President and Chief Executive Officer of Jackson Enterprises Inc., a holding and consulting company.

Mr. Jackson's extensive business experience is a welcome addition to WestJet's Board of Directors. Mr. Jackson is the former Chair of the Board of Directors for Canadian Western Bank and previously served as director of Princeton Developments Ltd., a private real estate development and management company.

Mr. Jackson joined WestJet's Board of Directors in July 2003.

Barry Jackson
Calgary (Alberta)

WestJet board of directors member Barry Jackson

Barry Jackson is the retired Chair of Resolute Energy Inc. and Deer Creek Energy Limited. He was formerly President, CEO and a director of Crestar Energy Inc. He has worked in the oil and gas industry since 1974.

Mr. Jackson has a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering from the University of Calgary and is a member of the Association of Professional Engineers, Geologists and Geophysicists of Alberta. He has served on the boards of several public companies and was made a fellow of the Institute of Corporate Directors in 2010.

Barry is Chair of TransCanada Corporation and TransCanada PipeLines Limited, a director of Laricina Energy Ltd., and a former director of Nexen Inc.

Mr. Jackson joined WestJet's Board of Directors in February 2009.

L. Jacques Ménard C.C., O.Q.

WestJet board of directors member Jacques Ménard

Jacques Ménard is Chairman of BMO Nesbitt Burns and President of BMO Financial Group, Quebec. Recently named as the Chancellor of Concordia University, he currently sits on various boards including Stingray Digital Group Inc., Claridge Inc. and the Montreal Alouettes. A former Chairman of Hydro-Quebec, Jacques has also been involved with the Canadian Public Accountability Board and the Investment Dealers Association of Canada.

A graduate of Collège Sainte-Marie, Jacques holds a Bachelor of Commerce from Loyola College and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Western Ontario. He has also received honorary doctorates from Concordia University, York University, the Université de Montréal and the Université de Sherbrooke.

Distinguished as an Officer of the Order of Canada and of the Order of Quebec, Jacques Ménard joined WestJet's Board of Directors in August 2011.

Janice Rennie
Edmonton (Alberta)

Janice Rennie brings a wealth of financial expertise and corporate directorship experience to WestJet's Board of Directors and she currently sits on the board of Major Drilling Group Inc., Methanex Corp. and West Fraser Timber Co. Ltd.

Janice has held senior management positions with a number of companies including, most recently, EPCOR Utilities where she served as Senior Vice-President of Human Resources and Organizational Effectiveness. She holds a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Alberta and is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Alberta.

WestJet welcomed Janice to its Board of Directors in August 2011.

Gregg Saretsky
President and Chief Executive Officer

Gregg Saretsky became WestJet President and Chief Executive Officer in April 2010. As President and CEO, Gregg is responsible for both the strategic direction of the company and the day-to-day operations of the airline. Gregg was named Alberta’s Business Person of the Year for 2012 by Alberta Venture magazine, an award he accepted on behalf of all 12,000 WestJetters who work hard each and every day to deliver a remarkable guest experience. In 2013, Gregg was also named Top New CEO of the Year by Canadian Business Magazine, an award bestowed on a CEO who has transformed his company within the first five years of his appointment. In addition, Gregg received an Honorary Doctor of Laws from Concordia University in 2014 and was the recipient of the David Foster Foundation Visionary Award as Canada’s National Business Leader of the Year in 2015.

Gregg joined WestJet in June 2009 as Vice-President, WestJet Vacations, before being named Executive Vice-President, Operations, in October 2009. In this capacity, Gregg was responsible for flight operations, inflight service, airport guest services, WestJet’s operations control centre, and technical operations (maintenance).

Gregg began his career in aviation with Canadian Airlines in 1985 and rose through the ranks to the position of Vice-President, Airports, and Vice-President, Marketing, before joining Alaska Airlines in 1998 as Senior Vice-President, Marketing & Planning, and then Executive Vice-President of Flight Operations and Marketing, responsible for the airline’s flight crews, operations, and consumer programs and activities. Gregg led the development of Alaska Airlines’ alliance strategy and was instrumental in building new airline and tour operator partnerships. Gregg is currently a board member of alumni UBC and the Conference Board of Canada.

Born and raised in Montreal, Gregg grew up in Quebec and British Columbia, graduating from UBC with a Bachelor of Science degree in Microbiology and a Master’s Degree in Business Administration. An avid globe-trotter, Gregg has visited more than 255 cities in 36 countries and is still working to master French and Spanish language skills! Gregg and his wife, Debb, enjoy skiing and travelling with their children Mark, Jennifer and Bobby.

Karen Sheriff

Karen Sheriff

Karen Sheriff is the current President and Chief Executive Officer of Q9 Networks Inc. having joined the company in January 2015. Prior to her role at Q9, she was President and CEO of Bell Alliant from 2008 to 2014, following more than 9 years in senior leadership positions at BCE Inc. Ms. Sheriff is also a director of the Canada Pension Plan Investment Board. Early on in her career, Ms. Sheriff spent over 10 years at United Airlines, in the areas of Marketing and Strategy.

Ms. Sheriff holds a master's degree in business administration, with concentrations in Marketing and Finance, from the University of Chicago. She was named one of the Canada's top 25 Women of Influence for both 2013 and 2014 by Women of Influence Inc. In 2012, she was named Woman of the Year by the Canadian Women in Communications and has been recognized as one of Atlantic Canada's Top 50 CEOs by Atlantic Business Magazine and one of Canada's Top 100 Most Powerful Women on multiple occasions.

Ms. Sheriff joined WestJet’s Board of Directors in January 2016.
