Boys and Girls Clubs of Canada
How we support
Since 2007, WestJet and Boys and Girls Clubs of Canada have partnered together to transform the experiences of young people and staff from Boys and Girls Clubs across the country. Through the donation of the gift of flight, Boys and Girls Clubs of Canada and its member Clubs have been able to...
- offer opportunities for youth and staff to travel to training, activities and events.
- fundraise to support enriching programs and essential services that benefit young people, their families, and their communities.
WestJet is a proud sponsor of the national fundraising event Capital One® Race For Kids™, where grown-ups play and kids win! Race For Kids™ is an urban adventure race offering a chance to return to the best adventures of childhood, while raising funds for kids to receive the support they need to realize their true potential. In 2016, teams of four in 31 communities across Canada competed in a series of 10 checkpoint challenges designed to focus the mind and challenge the body.
Whether planning a holiday party, helping out with fundraising events or spending time with Club youth, WestJetters across Canada volunteer their time, energy and creativity with local Boys and Girls Clubs to help improve the lives of young people across the country.
In November 2015, WestJet Cares for Kids surprised 16 Club youth from across North America with the adventure of a lifetime! Eight youth from Boys and Girls Clubs of Calgary travelled to Orlando to meet up with eight youth from Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Florida. They visited Walt Disney World, toured the Kissimmee Club and participated in community volunteering. Just when they thought the trip was over, WestJet surprised the youth with a trip back to Calgary! They visited Lake Louise in Banff National Park and spent time in the Calgary Clubs and community.
About Boys and Girls Clubs of Canada
Boys and Girls Clubs of Canada is dedicated to supporting and encouraging children and youth as they discover, develop and achieve great futures. We are a national charity serving 96 member Clubs that provide services to 200,000 young people in 625 locations across Canada. Our trained staff and volunteers listen to the opinions and ideas of children and youth, applaud their accomplishments, lend support during their struggles and provide ways for them to explore their interests and talents. With this encouragement, young people develop the confidence and sense of belonging that helps them overcome barriers, form positive relationships and mature into responsible, caring adults. For 116 years, we have welcomed children, youth and their families into Clubs that reflect the diversity of Canada in small and large cities, and rural and Aboriginal communities.
