For the salt of the sea, join the locals at The Old Fisherman, where the Pimienta family serves up home-style Aruban cooking. What started as a takeout 12 years ago has grown into a bustling restaurant.

The simple but cosy white-and-blue marine-themed eatery focuses on fresh fish and seafood; conch, shrimp, lobster tail, swordfish, fish cakes, grilled catch of the day and combo platters. If you're more in the mood for carne, steak and chicken are also on the menu.

Wash it all down with an Aruba Frosti (coco lopez, ponche creme, pineapple juice, rum, Bailey's and grenadine) or Fisherman Martini (vodka, Cointreau, blue Curacao), both invented by a Pimienta uncle who was Aruba's top bartender.
