Archer's Bay is to the north of the island in the parish of St. Lucy, and it is definitely not a place for swimming. It is a favorite picnic spot for Barbadians. Families pack a lunch and head here on the weekend to enjoy a day out. The picnic area is on the top of a cliff with a magnificent view of the deep Atlantic Ocean. For most people, this is as close to the sea as they will be able to get at this location, since the depth of the water in this area makes it unsuitable for bathing. However, there is a path from the cliff to the cove, and the more adventurous souls may wish to venture there. -Marsilyn Browne
