  3. Gilbert Nature Reserve

Since acquiring these 2.02 hectares (five acres) of untouched woodland in 1973, the Bermuda National Trust has maintained the lush Gilbert Nature Reserve. The reserve takes its name from the family the owned the property from the 18th century onward, and the area provides a sanctuary for an array of vibrant flora and fauna. There are prime bird-watching opportunities for visitors to the Gilbert Nature Reserve, as well as areas for picnicking. An excellent natural attraction, the reserve lies a mere eight kilometers (five miles) from downtown Hamilton near the geographic center of the island.
