The Che Guevara Mausoleum in central Santa Clara is without a doubt the city's biggest attraction. Visitors flock to the massive bronze statue to immerse themselves in history. The mausoleum was inaugurated on the 17th of October 1997 and preserves Che's remains along with the 29 guerillas who were assassinated during the Bolivian armed uprising of 1967. The majestic statue of the Argentine revolutionary stands 22 feet tall (6.70 meters), towering over Reparto Raul Sancho scenic environs. Adjacent to the monument is a small museum that displays historical artifacts and photographs that shed light on Che Guevara's role in the Cuban revolution.
