Parque Leoncio Vidal is among the most important parks in the heart of the city. It is also a designated National Monument as it features several monuments from various eras such as the Glorieta gazebo, Leoncio Vidal's bust, The Boy with the Leaking Boot (el niño de la bota) and Marta Abreu's bronze figure. The park was earlier called Plaza Mayor and Plaza Central. You will also find many historical buildings such as the Teatro La Caridad, Hotel Santa Clara Libre and Martí Library. The park is used for public concerts and often you will find local craftsmen selling their wares in and around the park.
