Museums & Galleries

The unmistakably burnt orange color of this 19th-century edifice cannot be missed from far off when in Glasgow Green. But that is not its claim to fame. The former cultural center for the East Enders, People's Palace showcases the story of Glasgow and Glaswegians from the 17th Century through the 20th Century. Pictorials, audio-visuals, artifacts and stories bring life to the chronicles. The impressive ceramic fountain, Doulton Fountain, is set in the front of this building. Billy Connolly's Banana Boots is among the most famous displays of this repository. The adjacent Victorian glasshouse - Winter Gardens with its exotic plants and light fare is a refreshing place to relax.
